@@danielashman1753 I'm guessing their club wanted highly experienced players that love the game as much as they do and wasn't exactly a place where much weaker players could just casually stroll in to learn a few moves and chess theory
I LOVE playing the Grob! About 50/50 with it. It's different, crazy and every game or two... my opponent (1200-1400 generally) loses a rook early!! Great for recreational games with friends.
Fun fact: in russian language the word "grob"(гроб) means "casket" or "coffin". So basically for them it sounds like "casket opening" and a person who plays it is like some kind of undertaker who buries his opponent alive.
Instructions unclear, played grob, opponent responded with grob, I responded with grob, they responded with grob, I am trapped in the grob cycle there is only one step and it is grob.
I'm 1500 rapid on cc and Game review often estimates my opponent below 1000 elo😂 I only get crushed, when my opponent plays the Caro Kann against my Grob. I don't know how to deal with closed positions.
I just binge watched all of your content and it's just too good. You should make more videos. Who goes to Ben finegold anymore for snarky chess related humour anymore lol. Waiting for the next video
Is it cool that I developed my own grob without even knowing it was an actual thing? I just figured people aren’t ready to pay attention to their rooks that early and they don’t defend properly. Problem is, it’s really easy to lose your own rook too if you don’t set it up properly. Yeah, this opening is disgusting, but it’s amazingly disgusting.
Started playing chess first time 6 months ago and the Grob is the only opening I've played ever since. I have 70% win rate with it on cc and am currently 1438 elo rapid. I just struggle with closed positions, when my opponent declines my Grob gambit with a modern defense.
I just had someone play this in a 10 minute rapid and was so confused i mirrored him on the other side of the board, think I confused him more than he confused me.
I won more games with the Grob Gambit Accepted than any other opening. Yet, people who were most likely crushed by it, are hell-bent on a campaign to refute it. It's hilarious!
It was my main opening for a few days, but I find to advance a3 and h3 in the first 2 moves much superior now, or the same mirrored when I play black, then follow by b4 or g4 or maybe the knights. It is even more fun than the grob nobody knows what that is by turn 5 you are already in a position that is not in the lichess player databases. I think it is called global opening or something, and the idea is simple don't move your center just attack the wings with pawns. I think the computer rates the global opening as better than the grob, and nobody knows what it is so games become a mess I've had much more success at around the 900-1000 rating than with grob.
in my ratings theres not more slow thinkers, sadly, everytime i see weird openings like this, i laugh and win, but i'll teach this one to my wife and see her crush noobs
I Love It! Its exploiting game theory! If used properly, you will be dangerous. Read the art of war, think about it, watch videos about it, then read it again.....now, watch a Ted talks or something equally easy for most (kids) to follow about 'game theory'.....then read the art of war again. ....if you still don't get why this opening works, then you probably don't understand when to use it or why....so, at this point: just ask someone to explain it to you. .....also, if this post was hard to follow...you're more than welcome to play poker with me any day. 👍 what does poker have to do with this? ....exactly! see you on poker Thursday 😉
Instructions unclear. Played this opening vs a 2350 in a classical time control and was kicked out of my chess club. ={
lmao seriously? why were you kicked out?

@@AAA99953very weird, Micheal Basman and Henri Grob were IM's that explored these unconventional openings and had fun.

Eh close enough, pretty sure that’s what he was asking of you

Could it mean that the person using the grob is digging their own grave?

I'm about an 1800 player with the GROB, a 1,000 player with black making me a solid 1400 player. The GROB is incredible.

I literally won with pawn checkmate with the grub/bongcloud hybird opening
Brooo, you are the biggest competitor of gotham chess😂😂
I used to use a variation of the grob as my main opening. I would play: G4, H3, bG2, and then D4. It was terrible and almost always worked.
You should do a video on the Alekhine's defence.
I have just got the Grob Opening in 10 minute rapid game.
I Checkmated him in like 40 moves after I obliterated his whole back rank.
I subbed when I saw Simple Jack.
ok
