I have had my 2020 Ego Mower for about a month now and I must say so far so good. It does a great job mowing and the fact it will fold up so it does not take up a lot of room in my shed.
I don't know if it's possible to love a lawnmower, but I LOVE this lawnmower and I've owned dozens of lawnmowers over 50 years. I already have a few EGO tools, so I'm already invested in the batteries (which are great). I mowed my 1/4 acre property with a huge smile on my face - the EGO is ridiculously quiet. The sound in this video is not realistic. Outside, people will think you're vacuuming your yard. The multi-speed self-propelled system is great - fast or slow, but the EGO is so light, you may not need it.
This mower is light, simple to useand I can mow my entire 1/3 acre lawn on one charge. It folds up when not in use, and can stand on end or hang on a wall to save space. I haven't used the bagger yet because it mulches very well. As a special bonus, the batteries are interchangeable between mower and chainsaw.
If you live in hot areas, chances are you start your yard work very early in the morning to beat the heat. You can feel better that you're not disturbing your neighbors with this lawnmower.
Currently waiting to get mine in the mail. Bought a Craftsman gas mower about 2 years ago and it is already dead. I got so sick of trying to fix it all the time and having to deal with gas, oil, and exhaust fumes. I have an E-GO string trimmer and I've had zero problems with it.
This is one of the best profiles on this mower I have seen. I would agree that the word “actually” is used far too much, but that is just the way he talks and that should not be held against him. I bought this mower to augment my 72” Xmark zero turn. There are just some places a 6 foot mower deck will not go. Again grate presentations and good review.
These mowers are worth the money.7.5 amp battery will run an hour or more with the push model the self propelled model will run up close to an hour Of course if your grass is dry and it's not stupid high you will get the best run times.it does cut great and if you set it to its highest setting you can cut in kinda rough areas without too much of a chance of hitting your blade.they do have great power and will rev up in really thick grass and buzz through it but of course it will eat up the battery more..no way would I go back to gas
Nice video. Good pace, well organized and informative. How light and easy is it to carry - with and without the battery installed? Everyone says it's light but no demo or comparisons. I need something I can lug up and down 8 steps and I'm getting up in years. 😀
Nice review. I bought this same model a couple months ago. I like it a lot except I have one issue with the rear wheels locking up when I use the self-propel feature. Have you had that issue or know any way to prevent it?
I don't think the LED lights on the previous generation stay on, because there's an on/off button for them on it... but this one is better placed. I was liking the previous version and it's less expensive, but in the end, for me at least, this one did enough to earn the extra expenditure
How long does the mower run on a full charge ,, how long does it take to charge the battery ,, thats kind of important info ,, other than that ,, great video ,,
Well to start it pushes grass down with wheel so you end up with thin strips of grass you have to recut when it does stand up,don't use water to remove grass stuck to lower side of deck ,power drive may not work after wards even after letting it sit for a week to dry off ,if drive axle gets wet the next t time you use it the power drive may not work ,if this happens turn drive axle by hand with pliers that's what I have experienced
I like these but I’m on 3/4 of an acre. How often would I have to stop and charge the battery? If I go this route, I’m sure buying a couple batteries is the way to go, yeah?
Just got one to replace an old gas Briggs and Stratton. It served me well for the last 25 yrs. However love the Battery power. Smooth and quiet and very efficient. One thing I like when I’m finished I don’t smell like a mix of exhaust fumes and grass. Very clean mower.
Thanks for the thorough review. What’s the depth when folded & stored upright against a wall? I have a somewhat narrow garage and am curious what my clearance would be. TIA.
Bought an EGO 21” mower. I was not satisfied with the performance of this machine. The blade is only 20”. Therefore, the 21” label is misleading. The mower did not cut the grass evenly (leaving clumps not cut) and unless I overlapped by 3” or 4” it would leave a strip of uncut grass with each pass. After five cuttings I returned the mower. I have since bought a Stihl 21” battery mower. It has a metal deck and makes a nice even cut. It appears to be a keeper. Both mowers are easy to star and use.
I Have EGO battery mower, been using it 3 yrs but now it has gone dead. I don't know anything about electricity and if I take it to be repaired I am sure it will be very expensive. With a petrol mower, it's easier to diagnose the problem.
Was the drive on the front or the back? The operator lifted the front when he turned around, but did he let go of a drive button, or is it front driven ? Can it be pulled backwards with no issues ?
Yep rear wheel drive works great ..but when you release the drive handle before you try to pull it backwards you must push it forward an inch or so before pulling it backwards or rear wheels will scoot instead of roll
The only questions people want to know are never answered. How long does it mow before it dies? How easily does it bog down in higher grass? I didn't see a single piece of grass thrown on the sidewalk when you mowed??
With the batter it has it lasts about an hour. It does a decent job with tall grass. If the grass is tall and wet then it struggles a little. It was mulching when the video was taken by the side walk.
My yard is about 1/3 acre. I've had it for 6 years now with the 5Ah battery. It still lasts for the whole yard no matter the condition. I assume the new models with the 7.5Ah battery will cover 1/2 acre without running out. If it does run out for you, you should have multiple other batteries from other Ego tools that can be used in the mower to finish up the yard.
I just have reservations on all the plastic on the EGO. The handle clamps that lock the handle extension seem like they are going to wear out within a year or two.
Just got it, and while only time can tell, I seriously doubt it on this new one. I think they were a little weak on earlier versions, but these lock up nice and solid.
Nice review. Be good if you cut some grass though. Wayyyy to high for me. I take it cause it struggles any lower. I couldn’t handle it being that long always.
Okay, I’ll,give you some down-sides from someone who has had ego tools for a couple,of years now; 1. The batteries don’t last very long. Just a year after having a battery, it’s capacity is down to 75% of original. By two years, it’s about 50% at best. 2. Customer service is not good. I’ve called about the battery degradation, and they would not support it, at all. I had a a motor issue on a power head, and they would not cover it. Then they wanted to charge me to ship it back to me, after I had to pay to ship it to them. I had to file a dispute with my credit card to get my money back. DIY Reid - of course Ryobi is not as well made as EGO, but they will replace parts and pay for the shipping, I’ve not had great battery life with Ryobi tools either. The difference with Ryobi is that they are a product of TTI, which is the same company as Milwaukee tools, and it shows in their customer support. If you call Ryobi support with a battery issue, they get the serial number or purchase date, and if you say it’s bad, they replace it, without any issue. Same withe team yellow, except you can also go to a service center, and they will fix or replace.

Thats crazy!!! I didnt know you could cut your lawn with a Prius. Noiceeeee
They terk our jerbs.
800 bucks for a mower is hard to justify
I loved my ego till it broke out of warranty. And no one will fix it. My only option is to buy a new mower. Going back to gas.
That sucks. I’m assuming motor issues?
Call Ace Hardware!
They repair EGO Products!
Looks like they still haven't added screw holes to attach a lawn striper...….
Make your own. 😀
FYI...I have a checkmate striper attached to my ego mower other mowers come with holes in them so ego needs to have them in there's for customer who cant figure out how to attach a striper.
Step one, drill hole in metal/frame on rear of mower. Step 2, attach Toro lawn striper with two knuts&bolts. Done
That’ll work
Remember when thieves used to steal lawn mowers and edgers ? Nobody pinches a petrol mower anymore lol..
I think these new EGO products will ignite another blackmarket for new generation of thieves because they are an exciting product. and I would definitely keep it locked up properly.
I am glad I don’t have to do anything in the US... ft and inch’s, inches of Mercury and bushels 🤦♂️🤪
