    I have had my 2020 Ego Mower for about a month now and I must say so far so good. It does a great job mowing and the fact it will fold up so it does not take up a lot of room in my shed.

    I don't know if it's possible to love a lawnmower, but I LOVE this lawnmower and I've owned dozens of lawnmowers over 50 years. I already have a few EGO tools, so I'm already invested in the batteries (which are great). I mowed my 1/4 acre property with a huge smile on my face - the EGO is ridiculously quiet. The sound in this video is not realistic. Outside, people will think you're vacuuming your yard. The multi-speed self-propelled system is great - fast or slow, but the EGO is so light, you may not need it.

      Ego has a zero turn mower coming soon so you may want a new toy/tool to add to your Ego enjoyment for that lawn.

    This mower is light, simple to useand I can mow my entire 1/3 acre lawn on one charge. It folds up when not in use, and can stand on end or hang on a wall to save space. I haven't used the bagger yet because it mulches very well. As a special bonus, the batteries are interchangeable between mower and chainsaw.

    Currently waiting to get mine in the mail. Bought a Craftsman gas mower about 2 years ago and it is already dead. I got so sick of trying to fix it all the time and having to deal with gas, oil, and exhaust fumes. I have an E-GO string trimmer and I've had zero problems with it.

  • @philipwilliams2951

    This is one of the best profiles on this mower I have seen. I would agree that the word “actually” is used far too much, but that is just the way he talks and that should not be held against him. I bought this mower to augment my 72” Xmark zero turn. There are just some places a 6 foot mower deck will not go.
    Again grate presentations and good review.

    These mowers are worth the money.7.5 amp battery will run an hour or more with the push model the self propelled model will run up close to an hour
    Of course if your grass is dry and it's not stupid high you will get the best run times.it does cut great and if you set it to its highest setting you can cut in kinda rough areas without too much of a chance of hitting your blade.they do have great power and will rev up in really thick grass and buzz through it but of course it will eat up the battery more..no way would I go back to gas

    Nice video. Good pace, well organized and informative. How light and easy is it to carry - with and without the battery installed? Everyone says it's light but no demo or comparisons. I need something I can lug up and down 8 steps and I'm getting up in years. 😀

    Bought an EGO 21” mower. I was not satisfied with the performance of this machine. The blade is only 20”. Therefore, the 21” label is misleading. The mower did not cut the grass evenly (leaving clumps not cut) and unless I overlapped by 3” or 4” it would leave a strip of uncut grass with each pass. After five cuttings I returned the mower. I have since bought a Stihl 21” battery mower. It has a metal deck and makes a nice even cut. It appears to be a keeper. Both mowers are easy to star and use.

I assume the new models with the 7.5Ah battery will cover 1/2 acre without running out. If it does run out for you, you should have multiple other batteries from other Ego tools that can be used in the mower to finish up the yard.

    Okay, I’ll,give you some down-sides from someone who has had ego tools for a couple,of years now; 1. The batteries don’t last very long. Just a year after having a battery, it’s capacity is down to 75% of original. By two years, it’s about 50% at best. 2. Customer service is not good. I’ve called about the battery degradation, and they would not support it, at all. I had a a motor issue on a power head, and they would not cover it. Then they wanted to charge me to ship it back to me, after I had to pay to ship it to them. I had to file a dispute with my credit card to get my money back. Most better brands: DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc, will pay for,shipping and/or provide local support: not EGO. Now, when they are brand new, they are good, but that battery degrades so fast, and with poor support, it’s not quite as attractive as you might think. They are pretty cutting edge, but as they outsource support, that is a concern. Take a look at Ryobi. It’s not as advanced, but TTI which carries it, also sold and HD, has very good customer support. You will,find a TTI rep in the HD most of the time, who will handle your issues. It’s a shame, since EGO has a nice product....until you have an issue. Just a FYI; I complained online about my EGO issues, and eventually an EGO rep contacted me to help, presumably to remove my reviews, but that isn’t how good support works.

    • @DIYReid
      @DIYReid  4 роки тому

      Thanks for this. I’ve never had good luck with Ryobi when it comes to constant use. Hopefully ego gets better.

    • @DIYReid

      This is also much better than just saying they are junk.

    • @davidwho8215
      @davidwho8215 4 роки тому

      DIY Reid - of course Ryobi is not as well made as EGO, but they will replace parts and pay for the shipping, I’ve not had great battery life with Ryobi tools either. The difference with Ryobi is that they are a product of TTI, which is the same company as Milwaukee tools, and it shows in their customer support. If you call Ryobi support with a battery issue, they get the serial number or purchase date, and if you say it’s bad, they replace it, without any issue. Same withe team yellow, except you can also go to a service center, and they will fix or replace.

      I'm thinking along these lines too. I've reached an age where mowing during the heat of day during our ever-hotter summer months is risky. Mowing early mornings would somewhat negate that and hopefully not disturb neighbors. Only possible drawback...does this mower handle damp/wet grass well?

      That mower is ok at best. It is also NiCad. I've read and seen several videos about people having multiple issues with it after just a few uses.
      Ego just teased their upcoming zero turn riding mower. It looks to use at least 4 of their 10Ah batteries (vs Ryobi's battery that can't be removed). After that, they should have a range of normal (non zero turn) riding mowers available.

    at 1:35. I dont believe 7.5 amperes means more torque. just more time.

    • @clintondewitt286
      @clintondewitt286 4 роки тому

      Correct. The voltage is your torque (pressure).

      @@clintondewitt286, no voltage is not torque. torque is angular force. volts is electrical force. sort of similar, but very different. with electricity, the 'power' (volts x amps) is what really matters. that is measured in watts. the watt-hours (or joules) is how much battery capacity that matters.

    Tried this mower, will not pickup grass to cut, leaves many lengths. Will not handle really thick grass unless you cut it several times a week.

    That's a 7.5 amp hour battery, not a 7.5 amp battery. "Amp hour" is a measure of capacity, not current delivery. That mower will run fine (and with the same performance) on a 2.5 Amp Hour battery, but only for 1/3 of the time before the battery is empty.
