Best tappet vid I’ve seen, great job. I’d like to add that if you don’t remove the head to make sure you have the piston is up after the intake closes look into the valve recess pocket vertical back wall, my engine has a 1/8 hole where I can see the piston moving up and down. Remove the spark plug rotate crank clockwise and after intake closes watch the piston rise look through hole in flywheel housing to align to TDC mark. Watch a vid about point gapping to see info on timing marks.

Thanks for the comments. Yes if you don't pull the head you can also pull the spark plug to find TDC if you can't find it on fly wheel. Thanks for watching and comments its appreciated.

Awesome great job I’m a big fan of case tractors I’ve unfortunately never been able to own one I’m looking to buy one but I’m in pa and usually if I can find one they sell for an insane price or they have an engine fail or transmission failure I messaged you on Facebook earlier but I subscribed to your channel

Are there valve stem seals in there?

Great. So on my Kohler KT 17S there are no adjustment nuts on the valve stems. Does that mean they have to be pulled and ground if necessary for the correct gap?

If for soe reason you have no adjustment then yes a valve job is needed and stem grinding.

what do you reccomend on a kohler k181 where the valves are non adjustable. my muffler is getting red hot and blowing flames. im gonna try cleaning under head but gonna check timing first

I would also remove heat tins an make sure its clean behind them and engine I'd clean the put them back on. Make sure nothing built a nest in the muffler, or something inside muffler is blocking. Adjust carb to not be lean and check timing. May need a valve job too? Run high test gas and if possible ethanol free.

The adjustment is to remove the head, pull out the valve, and grind a few thousandths off the post of the valve, checking with feelers as you go. Flames shooting out of the exhaust definitely sounds like no valve clearance on the exhaust. If you leave it like that for long, it will burn the valve and seat.
