Here not long after drew retired. Can’t see a reality where a QB ever finishes with such legendary accuracy. Blows my mind he’s top 10-5 all time and still underrated. Happy retirement, drew.
I just saw this. It's 2018. Drew broke Peyton Manning's all-time passing yardage record just last night, and he looks as fundamentally perfect now as he does right here. Better, even. Long live the football days of Drew Brees!!!!
Throwing a football or throwing a perfect spiral is something you can't learn from a demonstration. These quarterbacks didn't get lessons to throw the ball, they kept throwing and found how to throw the ball their way. Just like in basketball, how each player has a different shot and there is no "true way" to shoot. Same thing goes for football.
Quarterbacks also have to use their arm more than archers. Archers do have great skill in aiming, but compare pulling a string back and holding the arch with both hands, with have one arm not used and the throwing arm in a motion that has to control the trajectory and power of the ball
Well peyton manning holds the NFL record for the best completion record in one month. He also a much more veteran quarterback, He has the record for the most career games of 70% or higher. He has the record for the most perfect passer ratings. The list goes on and on.
The gyroscopic torque is caused by the air drag overturning moment, not gravity as you suggest. The centre of air pressure is toward the front of the ball, and the direction of air drag changes from the initial ball pointing direction as the ball proceeds along its trajectory, causing an overturning moment. Gravity acts on the middle of the ball so cannot cause an overturning moment. The gyroscopic torque produced does indeed cause the ball to align with its trajectory as you show however.
To make this testing correct, make him throw from 70 yards away, since that is the distance olympic archers shoot from. I bet that every single olympic archer would hit the yellow zone from 20 yards.
How about we have the archers go out on the football field with receivers running routes while carrying the targets and five 270+lb linemen running straight for him. Let's see if the archers hits his targets with any accuracy at all. Drew Brees > Robin Hood. Sorry bro.
Yeah but the arrows travel wayy faster than any football throw, and in a nearly straight line; you can't put the QB 70 yards away and expect accurate comparisons.
5:10 They claim it is throw #10. When it hits the target it bounces off to Brees' left. RIGHT AFTER they play (at full speed) another throw which CAN'T be #10 because it bounces off to his right. Was that supposed to be throw #11 or did someone just replay another throw from before?

dang. I've never thought Drew Brees was soo accurate. He probably couldn't throw that accurate during the season probably because he was being pressured but if you see the real side of Drew Brees, there you go.
i like when they use past experiments like the lugnuts spinning from the pit crew episode and compare it to the spin on the ball, good perspective that we have visual conformation of, love this show
***STATISTICALLY SPEAKING*** Prime Peyton Manning/Prime Drew Brees>>Prime Tom Brady I don't care who won the most games or Super Bowls. Football is a team effort. Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are first and second in nearly every notable quarterback statistic. Passing yards (season and career), passing touchdowns (career), 4,000+ yard seasons, etc. I know Tom Brady has come up clutch multiple times and really helped his team but he still can't statistically compete. Tom Brady is one year younger that Peyton Manning and he would have to play about five or six more outstanding seasons to catch Peyton Manning. Drew Bree's and Tom Brady are the same age and Drew is still statistically better.
Mark Sanchez wouldn't have hit the board in the first place. Even worse, Michael Vick would probably run up to it and touch it. The only other qb that could do it at least 5 times is Tom Brady who would probably do 9 and Aaron Rodgers would do it about 8.
Quarter Backs shouldn't even be compared to Olympic Archers. It's two completely different sports. Archery uses a device to shoot, so yea they are going to be more accurate (so stop saying its bullshit). They are just proving Drew Brees' dominance in the NFL as QB
@three333 It's true to a certain extent I'll give you that. But Manning never once had a run game and only until this season did he have a pretty decent defense. Off the top of your head besides Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney, can you name anyone on the Colt's D that stands out? Bob Sanders doesn't count, he's only reliable for 2 games. The Saints always had a decent run game and decent special teams as well. I still give it to Manning for taking the entire team by himself to the super bowl.
@Dophinillie If your going to do a comparative test to see who is more accurate then you can only change 1 variable, ie the sport being tested. The distance must stay the same or the test is pointless. Your not trying to make the difficulty of hitting the target the same, if throwing an american football is harder then sucks to be the football player. Who can jump higher, me or an olympic high jumper, me because we made the distance i had to jump smaller.
@thefouq stats can be misleading, if you have two lbs one has 150+ tackles and the other has around 100 tackles, does that make the one with 150 better? too many factors. what if the team got ran on more because dline blew, or the defense couldnt stop anyone on 3rd down and stayed on the field. dont be fooled by stats.
watching drew brees throw in slow motion is pure poetry. god damn that was incredible to watch.

Rock N Roll, Black and Gold, Super Bowl!!! Thanks Drew for a great year! You made this life long Saints fan come true.
WOW that was amazing i just gained even more respect for the talent and accuracy that elite quarterbacks\ possess in the NFL Drew brees is a beast
U still alive ?
3:18 josh McCown only hit 50% of the targets, yeah cause he's the worst QB in the league. Cmon sports science, you can do better
Actually Hoyer is, not him.
no ots his brother, Luke
And he's the Bears back up....as if they could get any worse.
lol i thought the same thing.
Whats your Pro QB percentage ?
I dont watch American Football but wow is this amazing. 5 stars.
Give this man an offensive line like the Patriots or the Bengals and I swear he'll pass for 5k yards every season
Or the dallas line
He has experience, but he kinda lost his accuracy over the years
+Eugene Ayos He hasn't lost his accuracy, he's lost more of his power. He still has a tight pass, but it's not as quick as it used to be
You want the Patriots line, I think they would gladly trade
easy
He has the greatest pocket footwork I've ever seen
Drew Brees is a class act as well.
it's not fake...the ball bounces off the target in different directions, though it seems to be edited poorly.
6:38 I know I know this vid is 10 years old but the fact they turn a simple throw into somthing some people dont understand is lit.
Kinesiology major! Just about spooged in my pants when he started talking about the kinetic chain.
10 years later and drew brees still hasn’t played in another super bowl... crazy
Drew Brees is amazing.
he was 18 metres from the target, olympic archers have to shoot from 70 metres. Id like to see him throw that far and hit anything.
Crazy drew brees went to my coaches highschool westlake highschool, crazy to think that I live very near Drew Brees' highschool
It’s not that crazy.

Henry Chaisritha I myself do archery and all gold at 100m with a compound bow isn't uncommon
Damn.. thats pretty nuts!
Difference is drew is using his arm, while archery uses an instrument used for accuracy.
Olympic archers shoot from 70 meters; this is no comparison.
The USB is missing from the football that Drew is throwing. I guess they just guessed on the data.
Black and gold to the superbowl
We will remember u drew u were tha man
dont you think that archers stand farther than 20 yards? the argument is completely invalid
Agreed
Actually they do stand at 20 yards
yeah they do stand at 20
recurve archers shoot at 70m. compound shoot at a 60 cm target at 50m
Drew uses his arm, and not an instrument used for accuracy
Mad skills and photography. 5 stars.
