They are replacing it with the cheap and cost effective F-35 that will be used very often and wont cause any logitical issue because Italy makes 0% of its parts.
It's nice to have a nation with such a wide variety of jets from other nations in game. The fact you can get the F16, Mig 29 and gripen in one tree is just chef's kiss.

What kills the mig 29 for me is the fact ALL the mig29's in the game used the r73 as its main armament. Remove the R27ER for the 12.0's and give them r73's, then make them 12.3. Also, it feels like a brick compared to DCS's mig29, which is weird because the warthunder f16 feels like a UFO compared to the DCS counterpart due to no G-limiter, yet it doesn't spin out when pulling hard without it. All in sim ofc, but my balance suggestion for the mig29 still stands.

I never end up surviving a single game in the Mig 29 either I dodge myself into the ground because of the Fox-3s and Aim-54s which you somehow didn’t engage once, or simply die because my radar locks too late or doing shit.. Even though I have researched the Mig-29 G (German) I still try to handle the Mig 29 before.
You’d think having an extra nuke for an engine would you make faster at sea level but for some reason the 5F is able to push to mid 1400kmh on the deck while for some reason the 4000 with an extra engine can’t reach anywhere close to,
I have almost spaded the HuAF MiG-29 right now, and the feedback is overall positive. The radar is frustrating, but BVR against even the flankers is most of the time doable. However the avionic is abbysmal.
I do it almost everyday with my f104 asa. Not too bad, I pulled off a 6 kill game yesterday against f15's and mirages. I take aspide missiles and adjust radar settings and catch em by surprise
my main confliction with top tier is there are so many missiles and players you cant take time to fly around and use tactics against 2-3 players not the entire enemy team it gets boring and repetitive

Depends on what Era you want to play. For the propeller aircrafts Britain and Germany have really good fighters (spitfires and bf109s), early, subsonic jets are essentially unplayable, for the early supersonisc most major nations have good ones (though soviet mig19/21 are really tough to master). us have the best pre-top fighter lineup with late phantoms, tomcats and early f16s (and 11.3-12.0 bracket is really enjoyable, you get a good missile combat but without extremely powerful r73/aim9m meta). For the top tier, all gripens are the easiest jets to be effective at, but they are a one-trick ponies. Us gets nice overall good f15 and f16c, while su27 is another extreme example of a one-tricker (basically it's a huge bus loaded with dozen of really good missile). I'd recommend Germany/Britain for the best experience at ww2 aircrafts or us for jets (although us ww2 planes are quite specific and aren't as easy to use at their full potential as spitfires/bf109s)
As a Hungarian Im just saying they could just add the Mig 23, and the BF109 and 110 to Italian tree easily. Thats why I am sad. Low level Hungary is just Russian stuff :(

the real hungarian ones used r-73s at some point, Photos of it exists but gaijin didnt add them sadly.
I think all MiG29 used R73s as their main battle missile, but due to balance purposes they aren’t used in all variants in the game
