So I’ve confirmed that the door panel will not go back on flush after the speaker upgrade on older models before the 2016 refresh. I have a 2013 and l needed to remove the plastic ring that goes around the speaker in the door panel. I was able to cut it out with some tin snips. The speakers sound great in the front. I did plug one into the rear and it didn’t sound good so l won’t upgrade the rear speakers. Thanks for the awesome video and speaker recommendation. It was very helpful.

Thank you for the guide of both the front and back doors. Just did both today with these speakers on my 2015 P85DL. The fronts required no modifications. For others, the backs I used a cut out tool to remove the speaker channels and everything went well. Also added some KILMAT 80 mil sound deadener to all doors while at it since the dang road noise is so loud on the highway! Took about 5 hours total with soldering and cutting due to the sound deadener and 40* high Colorado weather. Speakers sound better than stock. Clearer bass but still not a subwoofer. That will be the next addition!
hi would you say these Infinity Happy 62ix mid base speakers would fit my model S 2020 LR? or any better speakers you would recommend as direct replacement?
do you see more sound from the built-in tweeters of the Infinity Kappa 62ix? if so do you see that those built-in tweeters can replace the sound from the Tesla tweeters built into the pillars? thanks
I repalced the 4 door speakers with Infinity Kappa 62ix. Strange thing is my 2 front new speakers in the doors now only produce bass, no voice or vocal or mids at all. I forgot to check my 2 front door factory speaker sound before I replaced. Mine is 2020 LR Plus. Is that because there are 5 speakers on dash and pillars thats why no need for mid and high from two front speakers? They have crossed over mid and high from the 2 front speakers door speakers?

@@andrerink6888 thanks so much Andre! may I ask you one more question... any direct replacement amp you would recommend or Light Harmonic is the only option of Amp? also what about tweeters since I would like to replace them as well but I don know how to remove the pillars... 😞

About to tackle all 4 door speakers today. It would have been helpful if you'd have shown exactly what it was that was cut from the door panel. A before of the panel (like you showed) and an after showing exactly what you used the dremel to cut. I'll figure it out in a few hours I guess! Lol
I just replaced the blown drivers door speaker. Everything went smoothly EXCEPT for the fact that I can't get the door card back on!!! It's fitting everywhere except for around the speaker???? I had to walk away for a minute. The front speakers were direct replacement correct? No trimming of the door card around the speaker to get it to fit right? It's as if it about 1/4 inch off!!!
@@andrerink6888 that explains it!!! Mine is a 2014 and I had to trim ALL 4 panels. I spent 2 hours on the front drivers side trying to force it before I realized it must be trimmed. Sounds MUCH cleaner and bit more punchy. Well worth the $200 I spent! Thanks for the videos AND the comments!
Just to clarify. You DID hear more bass sound when doing the back speakers? On my 2014 Model S, I faded to the back speakers only and the EQ was turned all the way up on the bass bands with very little bass coming out of the two rear door speakers. The speakers hardly even move when bass is hitting (even with DJ Magic Mike music playing). I am wondering if the MCU filters bass to those two speakers. This would alter my plan on changing those two speakers if they are being filtered by the MCU. Can you please advise? Thank you for your videos! They are a great help to my potential upcoming project of changing the 4 door speakers!
Yes it added more bass, I was skeptical also because of past reviews but since I had to replace my window switch, i thought I would change the rear speakers. I was pleasantly surprised, it sounds great! The EQ adjusts the front snd rears.
I installed them in all the foot wells, the LED lights stick under the front steering column and glove box, had to use clips under the rear seats, here is the product link: Car LED Strip Light,Uniwit 4 Pieces DC 12V Multicolor Car Interior Music Light LED Underdash Lighting Kit with Sound Active Function and Wireless Remote Control Including Car Charger a.co/d/h1WUtL9
I seen in other videos that replacing the back speakers don’t make to much of a difference. The sound is more in the front. What your thinking since you did them both?
@@andrerink6888 you don't know what you talking about dude. Rear speaker no bass because it's equalize by factory tesla amps to hit high note.. unlike the front is mid-bass.. you still missing the front mid in-dash speakers dude. Still sound garbage imo until rear and front speakers insync

I haven't heard of that one yet, check your speaker polarity, not sure if the newer vehicles have a low pass filter on the amplified output..
@@andrerink6888 i see if it has one then how can I remove?
Perhaps you should look into your eq settings@QuangLe-tj4ix
What trim did you take out. I don't see that part at all
At 3:02 in the video, you will see plastic trim along the circumference of the inside of the door panel speaker grill. You will need to remove it.

It should because tge doors haven't change from my 2016 refresh to the 2020. Best speakers I have found so far.

It's not easy to cut a straight circular line with a dremel, I would start by taping a line and then using a cutting disc - good luck!
