    Love the clay scrubber from the rag company. Had to get my hands on it as soon as it came out. I find it to be very useful for stuck on bugs and debris along the front of a car when I pair it with p&s bugoff before a wash with p&s pearl auto, which gives a ton of lubricity so theres never really any marring at all. Great video!

    Excellent video! I've not used a traditional clay bar in awhile unless you have heavy contamination and then you need to polish its abrasive.
    The ultra clay and the DIY Detail clay towel are synthetic like you say. The DIY Detail for sure I know contains no abrasives but you need ample lubrication like Josh has. I personally am primarily rinseless that gives me a little of an edge and then I add the iron remover and clay in one step.
    Depending on how heavy your decontamination is, and what media you use. With ample lubrication you do not always have to polish.
    I really like this video! That Porsche is going to look fantastic

    Just wanted to give a tip when using a clay mitt or towel. I'll wash my whole car with my regular wash mitt and get it all rinsed off
    Then I'll get new/fresh soapy water in my bucket, and just dip my clay mitt into the wash bucket amd clay the car. The soap water has plenty of lubricity for the clay mitt.

  • @MyGuyKirby
    @MyGuyKirby Рік тому

    I too have been using the TRC synthetic clay mitt and these were done to help my ceramic spray waxes bond to the surface I never did any polish afterwards as the car were light colors and the owners were not paying for the service. Most customers want a clean and shiny vehicle and cannot detect a swirl or any micro marring.

    I've noticed recently on the videos your pressure washer hose is a dark color - not the bright blue of Uberflex or bright green of Flexzilla. Are you using a different brand now?
    What polish do you recommend after claying before a ceramic coat?

  • @RD-io6sm
    @RD-io6sm 5 місяців тому

    Yes synthetic clay can scratch but if used correctly there's very small risk for marring. Proper lubrication and zero pressure on the clay is pretty safe. Clay and seal packages wouldn't exist if it weren't reasonably possible.

    As a rule, I generally use the Mother's Synthetic pad for my primary claybarring. The one very important aspect of my process is that I keep a well dampened Terry cloth hand towel folded lengthwise over my shoulder. 2 virtues are because the towel is damp it tends to stay on my shoulder [I generally wear a t-shirt] and after several passes with the synthetic claypad I wipe it clean while the towel is still draped over my shoulder. It is quick and efficient- MOST IMPORTANTLY - it keeps the pad clear of contaminants! It is amazing how much crud [depending in the vehicle] can be seen in the towel. It certainly keeps any potential marring to a minimum.
    As Josh mentioned about the mitts - keep them clean. It makes the difference!

    Is there need to clay a few months old 7 year Ceramic (H9) coated paint? Guess the best thing to do is look at & feel the paint after washing it. If I need to clay & use the proper amount of lube & pressure, would the clay holding any contamination scratch the paint to the point I'd need to polish, once again I'd need to look afterwards.
    So at last comes the questions I need your help with & let you answer, what would I use to polish a H9 coating?
    And would I need to reapply the coating again afterwards? I'm guess no, I should just put down a coating of something to protect & to fill the holes the removed contamination left behind. Or am I wrong?
    But would "holes" in the H9 coat be compromising its structure after everything I needed to do to keep the H9 coat from "falling apart" ... could moisture get under it a lift it off the paint?
    Guessing I need to learn more about its atomic structure & how it bonds to the paint & are Ceramic coatings are self repairing.
    And if a car has a problem with paint chipping easily from driving in traffic, would a Ceramic coating stop it from chipping?
    My daily car is a Mazda CX-5 with the notorious Soul Red Crystal Metallic, it is very well known to have a problem with chippy to the point owners on Mazda fansite forums are trying to get a class action lawsuit started.
