An automotive claybar is an engineered resin mixture used to remove contaminants from the surface of your car’s paint, glass, fiberglass and metal.
Claybars are clay-like, meaning they have a putty-like consistency and they are elastic. They can be easily molded and stretched, and also contour easily to the surface.
Claying can remove contamination, paint overspray, brake dust & rail dust, industrial fallout, tree sap, and more. A clay bar should only be used when necessary. This means that it should not be used during every car wash.

Hello Pan and subscribers. Thanks for the usual very thorough tutorial. I often use synthetic claybar - Mother's 2.0 handheld primarily. I keep a dampened old dish towel draped over my shoulder and gently wipe the claybar off after each pass with an occasional hose rise. It is amazing how much dirt/contaminate that is removed with each wipe. I find this procedure keeps the synthetic clean for the next pass and keeps any scratching/marring to a minimum. I hope you may find that useful. Merci!

Part of me wants to jump right in but I drive a Panamera that’s a few years old and I’d hate to create a huge scratch or create something that would cost me. What does it typically cost for a clay bar/ polish for a professional detailer? Thanks again and love the channel.

    Encore merci !

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  2 роки тому +2

Merci Marc!

Love your detailing videos. So much information you are providing. The first time I used a clay bar was on a year old Jeep back in 2015. Knew very little at the time. I remember being absolutely amazed at how much crap came off of what I thought was a clean car. The level of gloss and smoothness achieved with so little effort was so pleasing. For days afterward I loved just wiping my hands across the surface every time I got in the car.

Pan, great video. You said exactly what I tell others all the time! I love the synthetic clay sponge from Griot's Garages it fits nicely in my hand. It works well for my cars since I keep the paint in good condition. I do use a clay bar that Griot's Garage sells for glass, I was surprised that you didn't mention glass clay bars to point out the difference. I've never tried a clay towel but I can see how that would be nice too. My biggest plus is that if I drop it I can just rinse it off. I was recommended the Griot's Garage Speed Shine decades ago by some members of high end car groups like Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari. I figured if they loved it that my Toyotas would too. It seems to work very well.

You can wash all your microfiber towels and wash mitts and microfiber drying towels together if you really want to (except the super greasy ones like those for engine bays or wheels). But ideally, you do separate loads for categories: glass towels, all purpose general cleaning towels, towel to remove polishes, etc.

Decontaminating a car with a clay media is one of my most favorite part of the process in detailing because it feels relieving when you are removing embedded contaminates from your pride and joy. When I began this journey of detailing over 20 years ago I started with Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clay and Quick Detailer and thought these products were great. Then I tried out the Brilliant Finish Synthetic clay with Speed Shine from Griot's and enjoyed the difference. Fast forward a bit, the user experience with The Ultra Clay towel from The Rag Company and Koch Chemie Clay Spray is quite wonderful and now my preferred product combo!

I appreciate and enjoyed this video! Thank you pan!! In the future You should talk about microfiber towels, the different kinds, the different blends like 70/30 75/25 or 80/20 etc etc. What’s safe for the towel to use on.
whats the difference between drying towels glass towels, wheel drying towels, polish towels coating towels, and regular interior taddy towels etc etc. Why some towels can’t work on this type of job. Glass towels aren’t meant for buffing off for example. There’s just so many towels and different variants to go through it would be nice to have a fully dedicated video dispelling myths and point the true facts so that way consumers make informed purchases.

Thanks! You're in luck. I did an entire 6 part series on demystifying everything about microfiber towels, with experts from The Rag Company. It's an awesome series, and you'll become a microfiber expert yourself after watching it. Here's part 1: ua-cam.com/video/6dy5PbjT1Cw/v-deo.html

Thank you for a great tutorial. I'm still using Turtle Wax liquid clay bar. It's easy to use and leaves a smooth surface.

Thanks again for a great video Pan like you it’s winter down here in New York & I’m waiting for it to worm up so I can get my 2012 Toyota Camry ready to ceramic coat. I have everything ready with my Decontaminate spray iron remover & clay bar & towel just waiting for your next polishing video which scares me never having used a electric polisher. I have a Makita polisher. So I’ll wait for your next video & hopefully when all is set & done & the weather warms up I’ll be ready to give it a shot.
I also have the Avolon king ceramic coating you recommended.
    Thanks for all your help.
