This is a complete game changer for XC Pilots, bigger guys, or Acro Pilots who want to get up to altitude fast - without the heat concerns of older-generation motors. If your interest is TANDEM PPG FLIGHT, this is a premium Tandem Machine! The new Talon 190 was designed with longer cooling fins that are tapered (thicker at the bottom near the engine, and thinner at the tips) for optimal cooling efficiency. The design and specific placement of the fins draws heat away from the hottest part of the engine (the combustion chamber). In addition, the Talon’s cylinder head configuration also allows the engine to cool down at a much faster rate after a hard climb-out. The cylinder is also ported for optimal RPM management and a top end that produces more power than any engine of its size.
This new motor is belt-driven WITH a centrifugal clutch, and features BlackHawk’s newly-designed “Easy Pull-Start” mechanism. We’ve also added a new double-jointed exhaust to ease vibration and eliminate cracking!
The new Talon 190 was designed to exacting standards by Industry experts, specifically to be the most durable & powerful motor in its class. This is the byproduct of over a decade of research, design, and feedback from some of the best Pilots in the Sport. Like all BlackHawk engines (with exception of the cylinder), the Talon 190 is CNC’d from solid billet aluminum - making it 6X stronger than standard “cast” motors. I love watching these videos and I love seeing that you reply to almost every person who leaves a comment on your channel. Your good customer service has been pointed out by other pilots who I watch on UA-cam and that's very important to someone who is new to this. I want to know who will be there if something goes wrong with my kite or motor. Good job with the editing and I like the graphics. (Also a video editing guy)
I'm saving up my money right now because I've already decided I want a paramotor. I've looked at a lot of options and I keep coming back to BlackHawk. I love the way you educate the new pilots and always encourage people to just call. I like that it's not a huge push to sell motors to guys or gals who maybe can't afford them yet.
I really like seeing the research and development you're putting into your new motors. That's a huge selling point for me is a company that is putting their own time in making the motors here and being very hands on with the products that are coming out instead of outsourcing this to the lowest bidder.

We are so excited in watching this video. We are soon going to buy our Black Hawk Power Paragliders. We need to make an appointment and to camping while we learn this new skill. I'm 70. Been flying ultralight aircraft for 50 years & now the Paramotors. I agree that the No. 1 problem with two cycle motors is heat dissipation. From scalded cylinders to complete freeze ups, heat & carbon deposits are killers. I wish Blackhawk luck with this one.

I so cant wait to do this. The one thing you guys left out was the price. I relies this kind of paraglider is top of the line and therefor expensive, but just how expensive would be nice to know. I have watched just about everything on you tube related to paragliding. And will one day achieve the goal. And of all the gear I have seen, your stuff is in a league of its own. I hope I can afford it. lol how much is one of these bad boys again.

We have many options with Paragliders, upgrades, different props, etc. We have a standard Package Deal Price, but we plan on this motor being in our lineup for many years to come. Cheers for the fast reply. The 190 is a lot less expensive than I thought it would be. In Australia I can get the training and a complete package for 14k give or take. Only other thing I really want is a bat wing. lol. Have you ever seen anyone with a batman style wing. so when people look up and point they will say THERES THE BATMAN.....
Lolol! There was a guy at the Salton Sea Fly-In some years back that had a custom "bat" wing. It actually had a bat face on it and everything. Here is a link to a pic of it I found on Google. Such a cool glider:

Did you anodize the aluminum parts of the engine? (for those who don't know, Anodizing increases strength as well as resistance to corrosion and wear, and helps to keep the aluminum looking new by helping to prevent the aluminum oxide layer from forming, which tends to make bare aluminum parts look dull and old) or did you use powder coating?

I asked the shop and they said the case and pulleys are anodized, as well as a few other parts. The majority of the parts are tempered and powder coated. Consider adding a copper base plate underneath those aluminum fins, it will pull the heat away from the cylinder more efficiently

Adding a knurled or diamond pattern to the surfaces of the fins also improves heat dissipation. Small eddies of air will circulate faster and pull out more heat (you stop an air blanket from forming). Not sure if knurls are feasible but just having simple "v" scores vertically would help as it breaks laminar airflow. www.advantageengineering.com/fyi/156/advantageFYI156.php

2 questions: I noticed in the video that a second person was there to start the motor, is there and electric start option? What is the 'all-up' dry weight?
Hi there! You never "need" a second person to start the motor. It's easy to reach over your shoulder and pull-start the motor yourself... It's just a "Pilot courtesy" to help start someone's motor like that sometimes. The Talon is one of the few motors that doesn't have the E-start option at the moment... Our AirMax 220 is very similar to the Talon (as far as Pilot weight and payload), so if E-start is a deal-breaker, you might consider the AirMax instead.
When you have time, give our office a call. We'd be happy to put together a customized Package Deal with gear that suits your needs. Keep researching the heck out of the sport and remember this - "less is more" in this sport. It's all about finding the perfect "power-to-weight ratio" for YOU to achieve optimum performance.

With the potential for an engine failure in flight, has there been consideration to have the pullcord for re-starting the engine accessible to the operator while wearing the glider?

No worries! That's a great and common question. The pull start is located right behind your shoulder. It's really easy to climb up to a few thousand feet, shut the motor off, and just glide... One of my FAVORITE things to do =)
We also have units with electric start - making it even easier. At the moment, the Talon 190 doesn't have E-start capability, but we have many that do. Thanks for interacting with our channel and feel free to give us a call anytime if you have questions or would like more info on a specific motor.

Lolol. You are right! This is Rob Whittaker - the video editing guy. I thought about that also when I put Joe in that voice-over part of the video. Hopefully Joe doesn't notice lol!
As far as motors go, we don't offer a Moster engine for our units. We've stuck with HE motors out of Spain due to their unmatched reliability, durability, and modern construction (CNC'd). As a Manufacturer, we have to be extremely careful of which motor we use. Picking the wrong brand or engine can be a service nightmare for a PPG Manufacturer. We've tried them all - that's for sure. There are some descent motors out there, but HE Motors have been the least problematic and longest-lasting of the ones tested. Hope that helps! how is the felt vibration on the 190?

Just think, when Electric motors have decent battery endurance, then all combustion engines will be obsolete.
That will be so awesome! The technology is there, but the cost and flight time just aren't worth it for demand / Manufacturers at the moment. I'm sure they could have cars running on water by now if people cared about that kind of stuff. I'm all about GREEN. BlackHawk's entire Manufacturing facility and office are all run off-grid so I feel great about working here. We're doing our part until those E-motors are ready to go! They're a lot quieter too =)

So yes,as a newbie just researching all of these different wings, motors, manufactures, training etc. It is a total mind 🤯. Almost too overwhelming. The back and forth pissing matches and shit talking is almost just too much.
Oh totally! When I first saw this sport on UA-cam, I stayed up for 24 hours watching videos and calling Dealers. The very first one I called told me "I'd die if I bought any other brand than what he was selling." I almost fell out of my chair. That would be like a Honda Dealer telling people "they will die if the buy a Suzuki." It's really bizarre. There are soooo many good people in the sport though. We get along with many of the competing Dealers and Manufacturers. There are only a select few who cause 90% of the problems. If you connect with good people and stay away from the troublemakers, you will find a whole new life-changing world at your fingertips. Don't let some stranger take away your dream of flying! That almost happened to me =)

So what is the warranty?
Sorry for the late response T Huff... Here is the general warranty that basically covers all of our Paramotors. Let us know if you have any more questions about the sport. We're here to help!
WARRANTY INFO (per our website) - "Each and every item that makes up a BlackHawk Powered Paraglider is
fully Warranted 100% for two years to the original purchaser from the
date of original purchase of any factory defects (engine carries a
manufacture 6 month warranty). The following items are included in this
warranty: cage, couplers, rods, frame, gas tank, harness, carabineers,
throttle, motor mounts and motor mount plates. This warranty excludes
any and all items that are damaged by the Pilot in launching, landing,
flying or transporting or misuse of said BlackHawk Powered Paraglider.
The BlackHawk engines carry a 6 month Manufacturers warranty against
factory defects from the original date of purchase. All engines are
subject to the manufactures warranty and conditions Warranties are not
transferable to anyone other than the original purchaser. Please contact
BlackHawk for Manufacturers warranty conditions or claims. Not included
under our warranty are any type of engine seizures caused by improper

Says the motor is recommended for pilots who weigh under 375lbs. So this is not a good tandem motor? Have anything that can carry like 600lbs+ like the flat top?
I STRONGLY urge you to keep researching the sport a lot more. We have motors that EXCEED the 600 lb payload you are looking for, but why would you ever need a motor like that? Are you running a Tandem business overseas? In the US, you have to get a Sport Pilot Licence and get an "N" number or exemption to fly certain Tandem Paramotors. Foot-Launch Tandem can be used in Instructional settings, but both Pilots really need to know what they are doing to be safe. Quad or Trike Tandem is by far the safest.
More importantly, "less is more" in this sport. It's all about finding the perfect balance of "Power-to-weight" ratio for YOU personally. If you get a motor that is too much power, what are you going to do when you want to fly by yourself? Add sand bags to the passenger seat? Have you tried to kite a Tandem Paraglider? They are MASSIVE.
First figure out what you are going to use the sport for. Yes - we have motors that have more power than you would ever need - but why spend thousands more for something you don't need.
Lastly and most importantly, PLEASE research more. If there is a brand you are interested in, Google the name of the owner of the company, search on UA-cam for the brand AND the owner to make sure you are doing business with someone reputable... There are some people in this sport you should stay clear of. Another amazing resource is the "Paramotor Group" on Facebook. There are almost 10,000 members there. DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE SAY IF THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL YOU SOMETHING. (that might sound strange coming from a Manufacturer, but we are very confident in our reputation). LISTEN TO WHAT PILOTS SAY WHO DON'T HAVE $$$ AS A MOTIVE. Then you will get non-biased, real information. This sport is full of "charismatic used car salesmen" that will tell you anything to get that credit card number.
Just be careful. If you truly do your research, you will enjoy this sport to it's fullest. Hope you don't end up buying two Paramotors like I did when I first got into the sport. My first motor was a nightmare and I had huge buyers remorse. I hope you don't go through the same thing.

I've been checking out videos for a long time now. It was just a simple question. I asked because I'm 300lbs and is thinking about starting a tandem business. I plan on getting down to 250lbs. I was 330lbs. That's why i asked.

Probably a solid product but this industry rivalries are pretty thick. The rivalry shouldn't be a marketing method.
YES!!!!!! Thank you so much for noticing and saying that. I've been in this Industry for a decade now - working for two different Manufacturers. I've never seen any other industry like it... The ego, competition, throwing mud. It's really unfortunate. We're working as hard as we can to change that and don't take part in the rivalry. I remember when I first saw these on UA-cam and started calling around. I couldn't believe that a company owner would tell me "I'd die if I buy any other brand but theirs." Can you imagine if Honda said that about Suzuki? There are still more amazing/good people in this sport who aren't like that at all. It's not hard to figure out who the "characters" are in this sport. For us, it's all about the flying - regardless of brand. I hope you find that refreshing and consider learning more about BlackHawk =)
