Thanks for the comment and question Wade... I'm sure you have noticed how unbelievable the politics and negativity can be in the sport - especially among Dealers. We sell more gear than any other domestic Manufacturer, so unfortunately we have to deal with our share of competitors who have forgotten that "it's all about the flying." We've had other motors in our shop and thought about making a comparison video, but it would just fuel the fire with other brands or Pilots assuming we are "bashing them." It's unfortunate that there are politics like this in such an amazing life-changing sport, but when people are on commission & selling high-dollar items, things can get muddy. We pride ourselves on just staying out of all of that. There have been some people on UA-cam who have made comparison videos where the feedback in the comments was not helpful for anyone in the sport. We try to focus on what makes BlackHawk shine and let people decide for themselves what they think is best for them. Hope that helps and makes sense =)

There is a massive PPG Community called the "Paramotor Group" on Facebook. There are over 20,000 members there. Why don't you join and just ask the Community what they think of "Captain Kirk." After all, if you are going to invest $10,000, it's responsible to do your research right? Talking to a salesman on commission isn't doing "research." Talk to the actual Pilots... The customers who have already purchased to see what their experience was like. Best of luck man. Seriously.

I hope that all this technology trickles down to a motor light enough for foot-launch. I'm a big fan of four-stroke motors in general. I had two-stroke dirt bikes back in the seventies and eighties, but once I got a four-stroke I never looked back.

Efi would be very nice!!!!!!! I love the 4-stroke motors !!!!!! I have a old Honda 80cc dirt bike I’ve had for 30yrs and it still runs like new!!!! All I’ve had to do is regular maintenance to keep it running great!!! Have also owned many many 2-strokes and they are great on days they run right and need a rebuild often and tons of upkeep!!!!!!

People have asked that before and we have motors that can handle a 600+ lb payload. It would take some modifications to do something like that, and I'd suggest checking with our office to see what the legalities would be with that. It least the flying machine would be a business write-off ;)

Not this motor... It's a very solid 4-stroke engine with EFI. It's designed for taking up a massive payload (like Tandem flight or larger Pilots). We have many more motors that are Foot-Launch specific if that's what you are interested in. Remember that "less is more" in this weight-sensitive sport... You don't need the most expensive, most powerful motor to maximize performance (although Dealers on commission might not tell you that lol). It comes down to the perfect balance of "power-to-weight" ratio to find the perfect motor for YOU. I hope this helps and we're always here if you have any questions =)

Very nice. I've been wanting to pursue this sport for a while, Im a big guy 280lbs, will this paramotor put out enough thrust for someone of my size, also what size canopy would you suggest? As far as the glider size goes, it can depend on the elevation where you live, which motor you choose, if you are doing Foot-Launch or Quad / Trike, and the type of flying you will personally do. Revolver has more power, but it is 2-stroke engine ... Intruder, -less power, but it is 4-stroke... Can you guys, make a comparison video between these two options, - pros / cons / considerations? Fantastic questions Victor. As far as motor selection goes, remember that "less is more" in this sport. Many of the Dealers out there will want you to buy the most powerful (therefore expensive) motor they sell... Or something trendy, or "pretty looking." Just use caution and research the heck out of everything. It's all about finding a balance between "power-to-weight" ratio. Can you give our office a quick call? Hi Justin! This is Robert Whittaker with Team BlackHawk. I've worked for multiple Manufacturers over the years, and one important thing I've learned is this... If a Dealer or Manufacturer is talking down about another product, that usually means they are not secure or confident with their own products. They should focus on the amazing aspects of their own product - not anything else. The "politics" in this sport are unreal compared to anything like it. All it took was a couple of Manufacturers to start muddying the water, and soon EVERYONE was doing it to "protect themselves" from the "bad things" others are saying about them. We just don't run our business like that. It's a lot different here - especially compared to where I've worked in the PPG Industry... I can't believe some of the statements I hear competitors make just to sell something, but when you are dealing with high $ items and Dealers are trying to pay their bills, the profit often comes before integrity. We've been around for longer than most Manufacturers, and we stay so busy that we don't need to resort to sales tactics like that. All we want is for YOU to be happy with what you purchase and realize your dream of flying... That's it! Even if it's with another brand. I'd STRONGLY suggest listening to what actual customers say over anyone trying to sell something. People also often get "brand biased" like with "Ford" and "Chevy." Do as much research as you possibly can, and it really comes down to "relationship sales" or who you feel confident investing with. Give us a call sometime so you can see the BlackHawk difference. There's many reasons why I chose to work with BlackHawk (Specifically) after working for other Manufacturers. My first experience with flight was taking a ride in an Ultralight. When I saw what I would have to do to own one, it was completely out of my financial ability. With Paramotors, there's no license, insurance, annual inspections, hanger fees, and I literally put my Foot-Launch unit in the trunk of my car! It goes everywhere with me in case I want to fly. When you have time, give our office a call so we can answer any questions you have, recommend gear, and get you in contact with the closest Training Center. It might help to see the equipment in person. I'll include a link below to one of our latest videos. I believe we took an INTRUDER 250 with a Quad on this trip (if I remember correctly). Oh absolutely!!! You can pull the glider right out of the package, lay it out, do a basic pre-flight inspection, and go flying! It's as easy as it gets. I am training in Michigan with a trainer that deals in BlackHawk equipment. I am 65 year old and while reverse kiting in fairly strong winds I hurt myself been 2 weeks and still hurting in my leg.
Was wanting to foot launch bad but! may have to consider a quad will see. This is a nice alterative will have to price it.

I started out with Foot-Launch but I LOVE how easy it is to fly Quad. It's very comfortable as well. hello +blackHawkParamotor , not to be a douche, just pointing out to help avoid future problems.
I'm almost sure that it is illegal to void a warranty because of the oil brand chosen, you can certainly void it because of not performing scheduled maintenance and/or by not using an specified oil spec (example: API S/N), but can not void it because the choice of oil brand.
Please let me know if I am mistaken, it might be different state to state.

No worries at all! Thanks for the comment. We have had a very hard time finding another oil that matches the exact specs of the oil we are using. There are a few things that we always recommend to keep things consistent and prevent any future issues. Using premium gas (ethanol free is possible), using the same oil the motor comes with, not using aftermarket or used parts, etc. If you find an oil that you would prefer instead, just check with our Maintenance Department or Owner to just make sure it won't cause any issues with the motor or warranty. We just want to make sure we emphasize the importance of using consistent, approved, and recommended parts =) You would be amazed what some people try just to fly. We've seen it all lol

I get it, and its great to know you care for your customer and their equipment.
However, one thing is to recommend and whole different thing is to say that IT VOIDS the warranty not using X brand, instead, use other approach, stating clearly what oil specs is required not to void the warranty, detailed full list of specs and certifications.
Even better to suggest which brands out there do meet that criteria, and once all options has been pointed, add that you strongly recommend X brand because it meets and exceeds such requirements. That would encourage future customers and show unbiased requirements, but a true concern on equipment and customer, otherwise, looks almost like an infomercial.

Hi Robert! We have motors that can handle a 600+ lb payload! It's amazing what these gliders can do with how efficient they are. You probably don't need a motor that powerful though. "Less is more" in this sport. It all comes down to finding the perfect "power-to-weight-ratio." Our AirMax 220 can handle well over a 300 lb payload and the entire package for everything needed to fly is around $8300. If you like Quads or Trikes, those start at around $10k for everything needed to fly. Our most powerful 4-stroke engine with EFI (Intruder 250) is about $15k for the package. The most common part that beginner Pilots will damage is the prop. If you are an advanced Pilot, Carbon Fiber is great. We don't want people getting into the sport to have to spend more than they have to (contrary to many other Manufacturers.) Less is more sometimes and not everyone can afford a new prop every month if they are having a longer learning curve. $300 is a lot of money for some people and we care about that. Hope that makes sense from an Industry perspective =)

Average speed with a beginner Paraglider is about 18-25 MPH (or more if you are flying with the wind). With smaller or "advanced" Paragliders, speeds of 50MPH + have been reached. This sport is all about "low and slow" flight... The faster you go, the more the risk-factor increases. Why does that Sanchez character try so hard to scare newcomers like myself to the sport with his overtly graphic depiction of the safety of the gear used by the paramotoring community ? It's so difficult to know who to trust on such an important issue when you don't know anyone personally who participates that can steer you right. His claim's are terrifying to say the least and I'm sure he's put off many many potential newcomer's from taking the leap and getting into the sport in the correct way. I've been saving up for the last year and am almost in the position of affording the loot required for a training programme and my first wing and motor. I'm from Scotland so weather wise I'm probably best waiting till the start of spring next year but I'd like to have it all organised before the end of the year. Are you guys associated with any training programmes in Scotland or maybe even the North of England ? Thanks for the inspiration, it has been the paramotoring community on UA-cam that has fuelled my dreams of flying for the last 18 months after previously having no knowledge of the sport at all besides maybe seeing something similar in an older James bond movie some years ago lol. EXCELLENT question... There are a couple of "characters" in this sport that make things "not so fun" for the Pilots and Manufacturers. It's not hard to figure out who they are. My name is Rob Whittaker, and here's the thing... I used to be Dell's Marketing Director for two years. I simply couldn't handle exactly what you described and moved on to a different company. He lost a tremendous amount of sales when I left - due to him not hiring someone else to help with Marketing. I spent most of my time with him basically "cleaning up his messes" like when he would get arrested for doing things that draw negative attention to the sport. Needless to say, he dislikes BlackHawk more than others because of my choice to leave his company for a competitor. I'd suggest listening to what customers have to say over ANYONE trying to sell you something in this sport. When you are dealing with high-value items and Dealers who are on commission, things get messy. We are the direct Manufacturer and don't need to take attention away from our own products by spending most of the conversation talking bad about other brands. If you've called Dell, you know exactly what I'm talking about... If you call our office, you will have a completely different experience. We would NEVER use "fear" as a way to push products. That's horrible and doesn't belong in this life-changing sport. We want people to enjoy the SAFEST, most affordible, most AMAZING form of flight there is. Weather you go with us or another brand, listen to your instincts when talking to "Dealers" and question EVERYTHING you hear. Where in the world are you getting your information? Can you please send me an exact link to where you are getting your information, or from whom? I worked for another Manufacturer as their Marketing Director for years before I came to BlackHawk... They had to have a full-time mechanic at their training location - just to fix all the ongoing issues. I thought that was the norm with 2-strokes made by mom-and-pop companies until I started working for a different Manufacturer (BlackHawk). It would be nice if Honda or Suzuki jumped into the game, but ALL Manufacturers are using smaller engine companies, and ALL experience issues - some way more than others by my very personal experience. With the thousands of units we sell, the amount of warranty issues or complaints are extremely small. Unfortunately, this sport has nasty politics... Every Dealer you call will tell you that their stuff is the best and everything else sucks, or falls apart, or is made in China, or will kill you. It's horrible and people lose sight of the fact that it should be all about the flying. Please keep an open mind and listen to customers over what someone who is trying to make a buck will tell you. Don't take it personally, I didn't mean to bash the company. I am only mentioning what I see when I google search something you guys sell to see more about it, and there are text blocks and videos explaining that the parts seem to fail much earlier than expected. I in no way am claiming anything from experience since I never used any product from anyone. Just mentioning what comes up on a search. Most commonly I see complaints about the exhaust system and complaints about the carburetor. In your defense many of these complaints are from 2016 or earlier.

No worries at all man! As fast as we produce content, there are a few companies / Dealers that spend equal time putting misinformation out there. I used to work for one of those Paramotor companies, and couldn't handle always doing damage control or posting dishonest things when my reputation took the heat. It's the very reason why I moved on to another company (BlackHawk). I've never seen anything like this before and I've done marketing for many large industries. Wherever there is money to be made, people do the craziest things - and with something as special as this is (flying) for us, it's hard to see this self-destructive behavior. It only hurts the sport as a whole. If you see anything negative - about ANY company out there, try and qualify the source. If you do a little digging like I have many times, you'll see a bunch of fake accounts, or trace it back to people who are a Dealer. Try to make sure it isn't a Dealer or someone affiliated with the business side of the sport. One of the things I like best about BlackHawk is that we call it "the land of NO ppg politics." So refreshing! Question everything, and always listen to those who have no motivation to "get something" out of what they are telling you. As long as you are happy with what you buy - BlackHawk or not - all we care about is that people are happy and can experience this life-changing sport! Hi, Rob. Check out Tucker Gott if you haven't already. Currently the most famous ppg u tuber who started off with your product. He's unbiased and obviously isn't trying to make money slamming your brand but suggests to go another way ((spending about 3gs more) maybe he has a deal w/scout i don't know about). He claims you guys use cheap parts to keep cost down, video footage to back it up. Just sayin. On the brighter side he does say your costumer service is excellent :)

He is working with other Dealers and Manufacturers to promote their equipment. It's great that he is promoting the sport for all of us involved. Anyone working to help get this sport to those who haven't seen it helps all of us, so that being said, we like what Tucker is doing with his channel. He's bounced around like many Dealers have... The "best equipment" is whatever they are flying at the time lol. If you called him now, and then a year from now, it will probably change - just like in the past.
We are one of the very few domestic Manufacturers who make everything in house. We even have our own Glider company. This lowers costs beyond what any importer can compete with and needless to say, Dealers who are struggling to sell some European / foreign motor that costs thousands more don't like it very much lol. I've heard just about every claim you can imagine - usually from people who heard it from someone, who hear it from someone, who got their info from someone trying to make a buck. Our equipment is NOT made in China and we don't cut corners on quality because it turns into customer service issues. With the hundreds of motors we sell each year, it's important that people have as few issues as possible so we can focus on coming out with new motors, rather than fixing old ones ;)

Try your best to get your info from average-Joe Pilots who have no interest in promoting a brand or selling you something... There's just too many people who let $ get in the way of what is most important... The flying =)

Why would this engine require oil changes so often, I have many small four stroke engines and other than changing out break in oil, I only change oil and Filter Once a Year--I have NEVER had any problems with engines using this method--Paramotor four stroke engines should be no different....

Thanks for the great question Randy! This engine is more sophisticated than normal 4-strokes. It makes more HP for the number of CC's, and it runs in excess of 6,000 RPM all the time. Please let us know if you have any more questions about the sport. We're always here to help =)

Dell Schanze told me 4-strokes are junk but growing up on a farm and racing dirt bikes I found the he’s full of shit!!!!!!!! I still have my 35 yr old Honda 4-wheeler that still runs like new!!!!

Oh that's too funny and doesn't surprise us at all. Isn't Dell a character? My Wife and I worked for him for a couple of years and that was all we could handle. He would say his own child was "junk" if he could make a buck off it. There are only a couple of "characters" in this sport that people stay away from. It's not hard to figure out who they are by just one phone call. If you really want to get a good perspective, go to the "Paramotor Group" on Facebook where there are over 20,000 members / pilots... Ask the Paramotor Community what they think of Dell. Grab some popcorn for that one lol. If you want to use that group to ask about 4-strokes, you will get a lot of good feedback. 4-strokes are extremely reliable, quieter, fuel efficient, and feature a lot more newer technology like Electronic Fuel Injection, Water Cooling, and much more. I can't imagine what business would be like if we were still selling 10+ year old technology like a Flat Top. We always reinvest in the development of better / newer Paramotors. sounds great....I should have waited.....I purchased a green eagle (2016)........it is the best ppg on the market....now with that being said I did not get what I ordered.....I paid for foot steering, tundra tires, and a john deere wing....as this is a tribute to john deere.......when I arrived to pick up my eagle I was told "" live with it.....I don't think you need it"" ......you pay $14,700 for a museum quality ppg.......and I got a useless machine........try flying this unit without the foot steering when you have only one arm....disabled veteran is not possible......the company took advantage of my disability, a combat disabled veteran, AND MADE SEVERAL ANTI-SEMETIC REMARKS....AND THIS FROM A FORMER ARMY SF RANGER............and he is refusing to complete the order or give me a refund.......AVOID GREEN EAGLE........you'll be glad you did.......

THAT'S A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! You would be amazed how many people have told us the exact same story. There are a lot of "used car salesmen" in this sport who are experts at getting someone's credit card. So sorry you had a bad experience with Green Eagle. You are not alone. Please don't let this ruin your desire to fly. I worked for another Manufacturer before I came to BlackHawk... I had to pay for my lessons twice and sold the first motor I bought before I even flew it because of similar reasons. It's really sad that things like this happen in such an amazing and life-changing sport, but where there is money, people lose sight of what is most important - THE FLYING =)

So sorry Nathaniel. We don't deal in used gear for many reasons - safety being the main one. There is a group on Facebook called the "Paramotor" group... It has thousands of members and would be a great place to tell your story, and see if anyone is interested. Hope that helps. There is also another group called "Paramotor things for sale." The online groups would be your best bet. Again, so sorry you had to deal with such a nasty experience with that other company.

I personally can't believe some of these companies are still in business, but there are so many new people discovering the sport all the time, and not much information as far as "consumer reviews," so these people unfortunately still get phone calls. As the sport grows, you will see less and less companies getting away with dishonesty, poor customer service, or outdated equipment. Competition is good! Hang in there you guys!

Am scratching Green Eagle off my list.
No BBB reports on BlackHawk but one report on Rippoff Report dot com about a warranty dispute after a hard landing. Seems like a non issue after reading the BlackHawk Waranty.

would you happen to have any distributors/trainers in Canada? located in Vancouver, not sure how the border would react to something like a PPG. and the only paragliding club around here sells their preffered brand

We have an AMAZING couple in Canada - Wayne and Susie Mitchler. They are some of the most knowledgeable in the sport when it comes to engines. Wayne used to do seminars at Fly-Ins where many people would just sit in a room and watch him talk about the motors. Really a great couple to connect with.
