- I love Encanto with my whole heart so you know I had make a fansong about it It all started with the first fanart in the video I saw it on twitter and knew I wanted to play with the idea of it a bit more. I'm really proud with how this came out. I used the idea of having a song right after Mirabel's gift ceremony and how nervous and scared everything is about it. (Mirabel for not having a gift, Abuela for the fear of loosing the magic and the rest of the family for having to deal with being perfect for approval)
The main parts though are Abuela and young Mirabel to show the current head of the family and the future head show their emotions.

Labeling a child as gifted can be toxic because the gifted children may have to raise up to impossible heights that they never asked for, and the non gifted children feel like their worthless as a result compared to the gifted ones.
This reminds me of Free! “When you’re 10, they call you prodigy. When you’re 15, they call you genius. Once you hit 20, you’re an ordinary person.” It also doesn’t help that with the school system being focused on helping the slower students, the quicker ones don’t get pushed to expand their knowledge (I was able to get through secondary school with little to no studying and I wasn’t even one of the ‘special’ kids as my attention span was nihil in elementary school)

@@MultiClassGeekyeah, for some reason i got little to no studying from anything on how not only how the TOUGHER PART OF REALITY is, but also the hell what irl outside of school is for everyone, i was never challenged, just because im autistic doesnt mean i cant be challenged.z-z (hell even crossword puzzles got easy for me, CROSSWORD PUZZLES, AKA THE VERY THING IM HORRIBLE AT.z-z)

Abuela Bruno and Mirabel all deserve a hug
Abuela had to witness her husband's death.
Bruno was forgotten and hated by the family.
And everyone took their anger out on Mirabel.
Abuela deserves nothing ngl
she witnessed her husbands death then mentally abused all her grandchildren and technically one of her children (Bruno), this is partially tainted because my good friend HATES her
Maribal only thinks like this BECAUSE of Abuela, the entire movie until the last 10mins, she yells at Maribal for just trying to help her family
If Encanto ever hits Broadway, they have to do a song like this

This makes me want cry even more for Mirabel. She deserved a gift so much.
Its really interesting how easy it is to see Mirabel, Dolores and Bruno becoming villains due to the circunstances around them.

If he doesnt have some serious imposter syndrome I will eat my hat. And Antonio can talk to animals! Wild, carnivorous animals that eat each other for survival...and he is six. If that isn't gonna be traumatic. I don't know what will. In canon, things dont get that bad for either of them, but if Mirabel and Alma didn't have that heart to heart...yikes

This really sounds like something Abuela has drilled into her whole family, they have to be strong for the town- like in the movie, Abuela constantly telling the townspeople that everything is fine because 'We are the Madrigals!''
It also reminds me of the song from Rescuers if you ever saw that, you know:

I feel very bad for Mirabel. Since I already know context and watched the movie myself, I really feel this.
This movie is really good, I've watched every weekend since it came out and listen to the songs often. This is a really good song, it really portrays the emotion in the movie.
“Afraid of change but won’t stop changing” is honestly such a powerful name. Every time a child comes of age they get a new ability, they’re changing, given more responsibility and expectations. Yet their afraid when someone doesn’t change. They aren’t use to that type of change. That concept is genuinely so cool yet add to the song so much ndjwjwhdb

WOW Ashley H! This was very beautiful and I loved it. You are very talented. The first part when young Mirabel’s singing, that really hit me very hard in the heart for I always felt like an outcast in my family. They love me, but I feel that I’m a burden and that I’m very different to them. None of them understands me completely, I always hide my emotions and act like nothing is happening when I’m with them. I’ve hurted them very bad when I tried to commit suicide twice and I’m scared that they will reject me nor that they won’t accept me for who I am. I am used to being just a shadow, invisible, very lonely, to live in/with this pain. I always felt that they will/would be better off without me in their lives. So I identified a lot with young Mirabel’s part. So thank you for this marvelous song. Poor Abuela and Mirabel (but let’s don’t forget about Bruno too). I need a miracle too, is it too much to ask?

I’ll be honest, I cried. I have so much empathy for all of those characters, especially Mirabel, I see myself in her, a lot. The feeling of never being good enough. That just makes me wanna give her a hug, give one to all of them.

This song almost made me cry. My life had been full of high expectations, and when I fail to meet them, I blame myself. I tell myself I’m a disappointment. I’m hard on myself for the smallest of things. My brother is a great athlete, most loved member of ffa etc, etc. he has colleges looking to give him a scholarship as a sophomore.
