A scene where Casita "appears" i missed in this video: During "We don't talk about bruno" in the first Dolores part, Casita rises and opens a drawer chest so Dolores could stand on it, you know, that part where Dolores looks down at Mirabel saying "Do you understand?" ua-cam.com/video/nsuo5UoUXGU/v-deo.html
I actually noticed this as I was watching the music video, It was pretty cool how the animators made the drawer build up even though the animation could barely be seen. Nice attention to detail lol
I like how the first time casita tuned the stairs into a slide was to prevent the children from going up the stairs, but then the 2nd time, it understood they found it fun and made it more exciting for them
One of the film's artists posted early artwork on Instagram of Casita being a "bad house". Doing things that could severely hurt Mirabel to stop her from learning secrets. I got the impression Casita may have been malevolent at one point (or at least, an antagonist), but the filmmakers changed it because they wanted the house to be a safe haven.
I love Casita's playful side. Like when the kids try to climb the stairs. At first it's a warning that they're not allowed upstairs, but then they thought it was fun and Casita clearly played into it. "Alright, you chiquitos want a slide? How about this! >3"
The cutest and best thing is that Mirabel is always talking to Casita like they're a person even though everyone else just treats them like a magical house.
i mean given how much the rest of them ignore her, id say she spent a lot of time "hanging out" with it as a child, so she has more of a connection to it.
I find it interesting how in the movie, mirabel is the one character who is most shown interacting with the house, i think this has something to do with the fact that mirabel is the one to "substitute" abuela's role in the family This gets a bit more obvious when mirabel opens the rebuilt house and it gains it's life again, just like how it happened to abuela. I think that scene was meant to show how mirabel is following the cicle (and that her gift is actually connected to taking care of her family and the house.)
I strongly agree with this theory but something I thought of is why didnt she get a door then? If shes supposed to be the head of the house, shouldnt she have a room and door? I think its because Abuela is still the head of the house, and when she goes, Mirabel will get Abuela’s room.
I love 1:55 cause instead of getting annoyed at the kids, casita immediately recognizes the kids want to play on the stairs and slide them around more the second time. It's such a nice detail
To think that Casita's main priority was to save everyone even if it was breaking in on itself is heartbreaking. It's falling down but it still didn't forget about its family.

Okay watching this sends it home for me that Casita is infused with Pedro’s spirit. The first is that right after Pedro perishes, the house comes to life by the candle, a candle that has butterflies on it. Butterflies are symbolic of many things, one being a passing of a loved one, ie Pedro. Second is how Maribel says goodmorning to Pedro’s painting/picture. When my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, he moved in with me and my mom. I was never too close to him before, but when he moved in we developed a connection like Maribel and Casita have. Saying good morning, helping each other out where we can, wishing we could help the other where we couldnt, being there for him in his last moments and trying my best to keep him around. Maribel trying to save casita at the end made me think of how hard to tried to keep my grandfather living for another day. Helping my mom give him his meds, cleaning his at home hospital bed and sheets, making sure he ate and drank even tho he could barely move, trying to save the miracle of life that I wished he could keep longer, but couldn’t, because he was breaking. His body was breaking, just like casita broke and Mirabel tried so hard to keep it from doing so. I know it’s a stretch and I know it’s kinda dark and sad to connect it to my own story but the symbolism I found in these scenes between Casita and Mirabel felt too close to home to not be proof. And rereading this makes this seem messy but ah well. Also, Mirabel and miracle have the same letter except for the b and c and almost are in the same order. Interesting
That's so beautiful! Seems like through the miracle, Pedro, in a way, got the life that he was denied back; just inside a house- he'd do anything for Alma, and nothing was too good for his family. Notice also that the look of the house demarcates the Madrigals as a rich family, if you look at historical & cultural context. Perhaps this was something that Pedro promised Alma in life, to build her such a house; through the miracle he got his wish.
@@timy.9512 omg!!! These theories are the exact reasons we need a tv show spinoff or a second movie about Maribel stepping up the ladder later in life as the “candle holder” when she’s a mom herself
I do love that at the end casita is like "NO!! You are not taking a perfect picture! We _just_ established nothing has to be perfect for you to love it, for it to be a miracle."
This ain't even the first time I've been heartbroken over a house, Encanto and Howl's Moving Castle really know how to make someone cry over inanimate objects. 😔
@@zyrevelvrein2388 i was thinking that it's affected by both abuela and mirabel, as the house reacts to both of them. The cracks started happening way back bc of abuela, but it became more prominent after mirabel got older and couldn't contain her negative feelings anymore (with the house starting to visibly crack literally after mirabel sung Waiting on a Miracle, this was also when mirabel started realizing how flawed the family really was i think). Casita recognized abuela and mirabel as the current and future "ilaw ng tahanan" so while i think the house responds to each family memeber, it responds to those two the most ("ilaw ng tahanan" is a filipino term, not colombian, but basically translates to "light of the house", and it's a term mostly applied to the mother of the house, the one who provides the light and warmth to the family, the one who holds the family together through love and care. Mirabel isn't a mother but she's essentially filling the role of caregiver to the family's well-being, which is also abuela's original role in the family)
im pretty sure the writers(?) said that Alma's emotions were shown in casita, but it was cut out? like in that one scene where casita's floors started breaking when she and Mirabel were fighting, was an example of abuela's emotion, since she was upset. pretty sure the animators did not want to cut out that part of Alma's "powers" or relation entirely from the plot?
the madrigals sounds like an entire pantheon of gods. like they have almost all the archetypes abuela: the mother goddess/founder/primordial (not saying she has powers but that's just what she represents to me) peppa: weather goddess dollores: messenger/observer goddess (since she can literally monitor everything) camillo: shapeshifter god/mischief god(much like loki) antonio: patron/protector god of beasts bruno: seer/destiny god julieta: healer/stove goddess luisa: warrior goddess (since most warrior gods/goddesses are associated with strength) isabella: beauty/fertility/flower goddess mirabel: demigoddess hero felix and agustin and later on mariano: mortals loved by the goddesses
2:40 I swear casita says “and how are you going to do that?” I wonder if the photo at the end when all the family was pushed together was casita’s way of smiling.
Only them are seen communicating with her because it's to show their similarities, I do think the rest of the family could. Like ofc their children selves would've played with the house
Just one hole: this clip 1:24 just pokes a hole in the 'Pedro is Casita' theory, if he was, why would he do this. Mirabel said "the house isn't gonna decorate itself" and the house, frowned? idk, but would pedro agree, since he was the house, not the house itself?

What really made me love Casita is that despite the fact it was being torn down it still protect the family and Mirabel until the very end. That house truly loves the Madrigal Family. Casita was the MVP in Encanto, in my opinion.
I never thought that a Disney movie will make me cry at the ripe age of 20 for a scentient house, using it's last drop of life to save its inhabitants, but here we go. 😭😭😭
Lowkey thought the title said "most expensive character." I mean, a house that could change its interior/architecture and can be a butler at the same time, I wouldn't be shocked if casita would be the most expensive house in the world. Btw, loved the vid so much! Casita is definitely the best character of the movie :))
The scene of Casita falling apart broke my heart. Seeing it make sure the family was safe and okay was one of my fav scenes in the film, so beautiful ❤
@@Biirdex for me I believe that Mirabels gift from Casita was being able to understand and communicate with Casita since she’s the only one in the family who can fully understand and obviously Casita loves everyone in the family but you can see the bond Mirabel and casita have with each other

See, I don't think Casita gives the children their gifts, I think the actual miracle itself (in the form of the candle) gives gifts, and is also what gave Casita life. The miracle dying out/not working for Mirabel isn't something Casita might have anticipated, so I'm sure it was just as shocked when she didn't get a gift. Casita seems alive, while the miracle does not.
@@glitterfish2 i agree ! It’s actualy imply that the first casita was build and did not appear out of thin air like the first scene show. Beautiful little ( Casita ) has such wonderful personality ......... I almost cried seeing it protacting and helping the ( Madrigal ) family to the very last moment
3:55 I really love how when Mirabel remained in the house while it's collapsing, Casita was just there to protect and gather stuff to be her shield while it's falling on to her even though Casita is already dying. Big Respect 👌
I'd like to think that Abuelo Pedro's spirit is directly responsible for Casita's sentience. Like the cupboard unloading the plates is him helping Mirabel set the table, Casita responding to Mirabel waving goodbye is him seeing his family off to work, Casita smacking Camilo at breakfast is him playfully reprimanding him for impersonating his sister to get more food, etc. Imagine what his spirit would look like doing those things with his beloved family 🥲
just one hole: this clip 1:24 just pokes a hole in the 'Pedro is Casita' theory, if he was, why would he do this. Mirabel said "the house isn't gonna decorate itself" and the house, frowned? idk, but would pedro agree, since he was the house, not the house itself?
@@AnEffingPinkCatThatBreathes maybe it's because Abuela has never really gotten over Pedro's death so maybe Mirabel has taken to referring to Casita as 'the house' instead of 'Abuelo' because bringing him up or talking about him within earshot of her is a touchy subject, like how Bruno is to Pepa and the rest of the family. Plus, I can't imagine Abuela would take it well if she sees her least favourite grandchild being closer to her husband than she is if she interprets the house as an embodiment of his spirit so maybe Casita never revealed that it's Pedro to be polite and not stir up trouble, similar to how the family tends to prefer to keep quiet about sensitive issues instead of addressing them.
Mirabel's interactions with Casita just cements the theory for me that she was given a gift, embodying the magic of the candle, since she talked to the house and seemed to really GET it. IDK, might just be me
I love Mirabell's relationship with Casita. She's close with Casita in a way that nobody else is. She talks to it, understands it perfectly, and it helps her every single step of the way. During the scene where it's falling apart, it actively helps her reach the candle while pushing everyone else to safety, and it's last act is saving her life.
Casita was windows/hand down my favorite character. Casita had your BACK. Also SPOILER but the house breaking scene broke my heart, i was so glad when it came back
You know what I realized, that the moment where Mirbel saw that Casita was what sees to be in pain, they shiver. As if scared, or trying to hold back. Maybe, it was holding back the cracks, and when everyone was coming out it was healing its self, or hiding its self.
Casita is Abuelo. That's my theory. In the flashback, we don't actually see him dying but we know he did. And the miracle was given almost immediately after. I think he 'stayed' behind and became the miracle or the house to watch and protect his family even though he was still gone. Why else would the house have such an expressive personality if it wasn't inspired by someone. Even when we see him and Abuela together when she lets him know they are having triplets, he is so animated in his reaction. Also, I think that he's a part of the reason the house was cracking and the miracle was dying. He was seeing how his family had grown to be in just 2 generations and didn't want that. He couldn't bare for the family to lose sight of their gifts just for the sake of being someone perfect that Abuela had in mind. I think he was disappointed in her and when Mirabel came along, he saw no need to give her gift. Like it was stated, she already was the gift and he needed her to change the family, not the community and encanto, for the better.
I just realized something If Mirabel had a magical room like everyone else, she wouldn't be able to comunicate with Casita when inside, unlike what we see at 0:25, when casita help her get ready and all I thinks that's the reason why Mirabel is the closer family member to casita
I love casita but I genuinely don’t know how anyone would be able to be intimate in a living fk house I’d just be embarrassed. The real miracle is the fact that there were actually more generations in the first place
I love how the grandmother tried to pin the magic dying on mirabela. The magic was dying before she went on her “quest”. In my opinion Mirabelas powers is making people sing which is mixed with reality warping abilities and a ton of other cool powers.

Thanks for sharing your story.
@@timy.9512 omg!!! These theories are the exact reasons we need a tv show spinoff or a second movie about Maribel stepping up the ladder later in life as the “candle holder” when she’s a mom herself
Imagine if casita could talk.
I mean we dont need them to talk since the movements express enough emotion to know what they want to say

Not me crying over a house
Ur not the only one 😭
Not going to be my first time 😔
This ain't even the first time I've been heartbroken over a house, Encanto and Howl's Moving Castle really know how to make someone cry over inanimate objects. 😔

@@IWontFindU8888 I forgot about that one. D':
"Worth a shot"
Casita: Go sit down BOY!
This is debetable but I think the casita’s health is directly affected by the family’s bond.
It is! Some people theorize that Mirabel emotional state affects the house more heavily, as if the two are intimately connected.
@@zyrevelvrein2388 some people also say that she is meant to be the next matriarch thus her gift for the family is being the support/Pilar they need.
Casita recognized abuela and mirabel as the current and future "ilaw ng tahanan" so while i think the house responds to each family memeber, it responds to those two the most
("ilaw ng tahanan" is a filipino term, not colombian, but basically translates to "light of the house", and it's a term mostly applied to the mother of the house, the one who provides the light and warmth to the family, the one who holds the family together through love and care. Mirabel isn't a mother but she's essentially filling the role of caregiver to the family's well-being, which is also abuela's original role in the family)
Yes! That's why in Bruno's vision it needed for Mirabel and Isabela to fix their bond
im pretty sure the writers(?) said that Alma's emotions were shown in casita, but it was cut out?
like in that one scene where casita's floors started breaking when she and Mirabel were fighting, was an example of abuela's emotion, since she was upset. pretty sure the animators did not want to cut out that part of Alma's "powers" or relation entirely from the plot?
the madrigals sounds like an entire pantheon of gods. like they have almost all the archetypes
abuela: the mother goddess/founder/primordial (not saying she has powers but that's just what she represents to me)
peppa: weather goddess
dollores: messenger/observer goddess (since she can literally monitor everything)
camillo: shapeshifter god/mischief god(much like loki)
antonio: patron/protector god of beasts
bruno: seer/destiny god
julieta: healer/stove goddess
luisa: warrior goddess (since most warrior gods/goddesses are associated with strength)
isabella: beauty/fertility/flower goddess
mirabel: demigoddess hero
felix and agustin and later on mariano: mortals loved by the goddesses
you're onto something
Well is a good point

The fact mirabel understood she said that
Only Abuela and Mirabel can actually communicate with Casita
Thats why the theory that mirabel is the next candle holder make sense
Only them are seen communicating with her because it's to show their similarities, I do think the rest of the family could. Like ofc their children selves would've played with the house

What if casita is the spirit of their abuelo who built and posessed the house because it was the next best way to protect them.
That'd be really sweet and interesting, like abuelo pedro's spirit's thinking "Ok so i died before i could give my family a proper and safe home" so he decides to be the spirit of the house to both be with his family and to care/protect them

What really made me love Casita is that despite the fact it was being torn down it still protect the family and Mirabel until the very end. That house truly loves the Madrigal Family. Casita was the MVP in Encanto, in my opinion.
The last wave before the doors stopped being magic 🥺
Casita has to be the best character. Supportive till it’s last ‘breath’
Casita had more emotion than The Lion King remake.

Lol true
And the new Cinderella
and the Aladin
Basically Casita has more emotion than ALL the remakes combined
And that's why you create original characters folks!
The casita really brought the movie to life! It was great.
I never thought that a Disney movie will make me cry at the ripe age of 20 for a scentient house, using it's last drop of life to save its inhabitants, but here we go. 😭😭😭
casita was so badass saving literally everyone and protecting mirabel!!! that scene AWESOME
At 4:01 , this is one of my most favorite scenes because Casita will literally use every part of itself to protect its family
The casita is totally Abuela's husband! That's why it's so supportive to the family!
Lowkey thought the title said "most expensive character." I mean, a house that could change its interior/architecture and can be a butler at the same time, I wouldn't be shocked if casita would be the most expensive house in the world. Btw, loved the vid so much! Casita is definitely the best character of the movie :))
Even if the family stopped being magical, you bet property prices in the area would be high just from the heritage and stories.
The scene of Casita falling apart broke my heart. Seeing it make sure the family was safe and okay was one of my fav scenes in the film, so beautiful ❤
When Casita was scrambling for letover furniture to protect Mirabel I was sobbing
I love how casita really really loves this family so much especially, mirabel
Did you guys noticed Disney made one of the best characters and it is a freaking house? (Casita is the best)
I started crying when Casita gave it's last wave goodbye after saving Mirabel 🙂😭😭
4:24 best part of all the movie. Casita looks so happy to come back, and the rythm is soooo contagious! I love it!
i love casita but it went along with everything as if mirabel was going to get a gift and then DIDNT GIVE HER ONE LMAO😂😂😂😂
@@Biirdex for me I believe that Mirabels gift from Casita was being able to understand and communicate with Casita since she’s the only one in the family who can fully understand and obviously Casita loves everyone in the family but you can see the bond Mirabel and casita have with each other
@@luigi7487 also casita can't enter the other's room (maybe exepte for alma) maribelle being in the "child" room, would be the most in contact with and eventualy develop a stronger bond with
See, I don't think Casita gives the children their gifts, I think the actual miracle itself (in the form of the candle) gives gifts, and is also what gave Casita life.
In the flashback the candle actualy just grow the mountain and push the attacker out but it’s not shown creating casita. @Wolfy damn magic be weak as hell
Casita is basically in par with the Ocean but more playful. And I love it.
casita is soo adorable, easly my fav character
Even why she was slowly (then very quickly) falling apart she still tried her damndest to make sure her family stayed safe and unhurt. Truly a great and loving character that just so happens to be a house
Never thought I'd think that a house is the best character in a film

How does Disney bring an Ocean, a pair of legs and a house to life every time.

4:07: goodbye Mirabel
4:19: hello Mirabel

The wave was invented in 1981, but encanto takes place bewteen the 1950's or early 1960's so, casita invented the wave.
Casita wasnt just keeping the family safe, shes apart of the family.
Mirabel's interactions with Casita just cements the theory for me that she was given a gift, embodying the magic of the candle, since she talked to the house and seemed to really GET it. IDK, might just be me
i have a feeling casita only let mirabel specifically get the candle herself
I love Mirabell's relationship with Casita. She's close with Casita in a way that nobody else is. She talks to it, understands it perfectly, and it helps her every single step of the way. During the scene where it's falling apart, it actively helps her reach the candle while pushing everyone else to safety, and it's last act is saving her life.
Casita's first priority was to keep the family safe even when dying itself I can't help feel so emotional!!
Casita was windows/hand down my favorite character. Casita had your BACK.
Also SPOILER but the house breaking scene broke my heart, i was so glad when it came back
I love how if you look at how it acts it can’t control objects, just the floor UNDER the objects. Smart move Disney
You know what I realized, that the moment where Mirbel saw that Casita was what sees to be in pain, they shiver. As if scared, or trying to hold back. Maybe, it was holding back the cracks, and when everyone was coming out it was healing its self, or hiding its self.
Casita is a real one. Loved when it saved everyone
I almost cried when Casita was breaking down 😭
I love Casita sooo much 💕💕
to be fair casita put a wodden thing in dolores part of we dont talk about bruno, even tho it still feel complete
Casita also becomes a treadmill for Luisa in the family Madrigal.
I still think Casita holds Abuelo’s spirit 🥺
Every single time Casita do something is the best character
I just realized something
If Mirabel had a magical room like everyone else, she wouldn't be able to comunicate with Casita when inside, unlike what we see at 0:25, when casita help her get ready and all
I thinks that's the reason why Mirabel is the closer family member to casita
I love casita but I genuinely don’t know how anyone would be able to be intimate in a living fk house I’d just be embarrassed.
The real miracle is the fact that there were actually more generations in the first place
I love how the grandmother tried to pin the magic dying on mirabela. The magic was dying before she went on her “quest”. In my opinion Mirabelas powers is making people sing which is mixed with reality warping abilities and a ton of other cool powers.
Her name is Mirabel , but yeah. I agree
Casita is a delight and we love her.
