Someone may have answered this already, but the sandwich looks like a leftover Thanksgiving recipe, which means the turkey would be shredded, not sliced. Hence the volume measure.
We slice the breast, but anything left over we pick off the bone (resulting in shred), plus we usually don't bother slicing the dark meat, just pull it off the bone.
Barbara Danley I think what they’re saying is : most peoples’ family eat MOST of the carved bird on the day of - in slices. It's pretty hilarious 😂
Kudos to Jamie and Barry for all those Friends references--they cracked me up so much!
This was one of your most entertaining vlogs to date. As a fan of the Friends tv series, your recipe versions were spot on. That Meat Trifle was a work of art. Your responses during the tasting of that delicacy were priceless. Brave men!
I love how the cover of How We Cook gives the illusion that Ben and James are the same height!!
Feeding Hannibal: a connoisseur's cookbook
Yes, this would be so interesting. Really curious what the chefs think about it.
Thank you, I’ve recommended this before because I think they’d enjoy the recipes
"I am the moist maker".
Yes indeed. Yes you are James.
I love seeing the chefs experiment and create new or strange dishes! Really hoping we get a bit more of this format!
LOVE the details on adding the laughing track!
I'd love to see the chefs recreating more meals from TV/film, separate from cookbooks
Go watch Binging With Babish then.
yeah, i really enjoyed all the references they made!
@@Khazandar Yeah I think thats his turfXD
James: "I am the moist maker"
Everyone: Obviously. He's the eye candy of the channel
We were all thinking it.
Everyone is thirsty for James, and here I am eyeing Ben...
I dunno - I think that Mike is the better eye candy.
I'm all over Ben as well.
#TeamBen as well. I prefer people with actual functioning brain :P sorryNOTsorry #teamPansexual as well :P
That friends-like transition at the start was great 😂
they seem to have so much fun together, wish i had a group of friends like that!!!
Btw: to make the BEST oatmeal cookies, soak your raisins with the eggs (at least 30m) and start with room temp, unsalted butter mixed to the consistency of room temp tubbed margarine.
I kind of miss Fridge Cam when the camera was actually in the fridge 🥲
I miss the "butt first..." lol
I miss Dad Joke of the Week...
Thank you Sortedfood and I'm glad this video has came on my birthday!....🥰❤
Happy Birthday!
@@SortedFood Thank you boys ! ❤❤❤
Happy birthday Nisha!
I'll try again: "Prison Ramen" should be the next cookbook review!
FYI, many US persons make post-Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches with leftover turkey that has been pulled/shredded, which can be measured by volume. Also, it's generally understood that brown sugar is measured firmly packed.
The little random shot of Big Ben made me smile, looks like the little cuts to landmarks they make in cooking programs where the chefs travel to different places, like Rick Stein and similar
"You can't measure turkey in cups". That is the phrase that pays for today.
Especially when using sliced deli Turkey instead of shredded leftover Thanksgiving Turkey.
@@jbrand255 came to look if there's this comment
I feel like the content you guys have been churning out recently is so gooood. Love from SG! 🇸🇬
We're glad you like it!
When they were talking about which one of the friends gang they were, I thought "Who among Sorted would _I_ be?" Definitely a Ben. I love it when he talks about random trivia facts about stuff like a nerd, and definitely know I do that myself much to the chagrin of others. I even get annoyed when the guys cut him off, because I want to hear what he has to say. I find it interesting.
I would be a James. I'm always trying to push my cooking ability higher, trying some pretty weird stuff sometimes - plus I'm really judgmental and sassy.
Same. Feel like Ben is my brother from another mother ;-)
Why do people always belittle a more intelligent person, huh? this society is crap.
@@izuizabela6613 I wouldn't go so far as to call people more intelligent just because they enjoy trivia about things more. That's just a personality trait if anything. I know plenty of intelligent people who find it boring and try to change the subject whenever I geek out about some random trivia about something like cooking chemistry.
@@LudicrousRat I did not meant trivia facts in particular, but overall society reaction to person who shows their knowledge. Anytime anyhow. Most people treat worse someone who is in their opinion a nerd.
Also see how our society feels like it is more insulting to say "you're ugly" than "you're stupid".
I think I'm some weird combo of Ben and Jamie with a splash of James.
Ben: I love random information and love sharing that information with people to the point of one of friends asking me what the "Fact of the Day" is.
Jamie: I would take a good burger over just about any other food, and I love dad jokes and puns and laugh so much at stupid things.
James: We have the same reactions to kitchen gadgets.
the Dungeons and Dragons official cookbook Heroes Feast is out now. it would be a blast to see you guys tackle some of those recipes.
I would love to see you guys make some recipes out of: Heroes' Feast: The Official Dungeons and Dragons Cookbook. You could combine some fun recipes with some serious throwback costuming!
As someone who has seen every single Friends episode over and over (and over) again? I really appreciated all the Friends-references Jamie and Barry did! Mike's reaction to the trifle was amazing! Solid video as usual, you guys always make me laugh!
Ben's reaction when he tasted his own monstrosity was the same as Joey's. Each individual element GOOD. Leaves out the fact that combined, not so much.
Ben and James vs Babish and Sohla the ultimate youtube food crossover event
Literally best video yet. Also Mike's reaction to the amount of beef in it, is priceless! 14:50
Well done Ben and James. That's a creative solution on that 'trifle'.
BEN AS GUNTHER IM DYING HAHAHAHHA
I actually spat out my drink and laughed.
And Barry as phoebe is accurate.
Also I kind of want to know what Gunther means over there.. LOL
Michelle C Look it up in Urban Dictionary.
Ben needs to watch friends know to understand the insult lol.
I like how Jamie tries to do "oh. my. gawd." and instead does "oh. my. gwad."
"That beef needs more sugar!"
I've never seen Friends, but anything that results in that horrifying sentence from James can't be all bad! 🤣
I've already added "That beef needs more sugar!" to my mental list of Sorted T-shirt merch slogans.
I'm excited about the "How We Cook" cookbook, because I'm terrible at just the basics and I love how clearly y'all explain things. Also, who else suddenly feels like binging the entire series of Friends now?
This is the best thing ever. Two of my most favourite things together
It's ironic James being the moist maker despite causing so much thirst
That's exactly why he's the moist maker
I would love if you guys did Feeding Hannibal: A connoisseurs cookbook, from the NBC show. Could get interesting! 😁
Its good to see how Ben and James make eggs, but we really need to know how Barry makes them
hes on another level with eggs
2 words. ☁️ cloud 🥚 egg 🐣
i’ve been binge watching episodes since i was introduced to sorted through the mythical kitchen collab.
currently it is Nov 1, 2023 and this episode hit hard with the recent news of Matthew Perry’s death.
Always wondered if there would be someone to actually make the trifle as shown instead of making it dessert based.
omg they edited this to feel like watching friends like cutting into a city landscape in between plus the music is also very friends-esque? love the tribute ♥
That stuffing looked great - I may have to find the book just for that recipe!
"you can't measure turkey in cups"
My cursed brain: turkey puree
So gravy?
Mince/ground.
Cooked, cubed.
Cram the slices into a cup.
Americans who cook/ bake, know that a cup = 8 ounces, duh.
If you carve a turkey the way my dad does, you are getting shreds.
@@kayjacoby290 actually a cup isn't always 8oz. Depends on the density of the item, how you fill the cup (packed, not packed etc) which is why (in my opinion anyway) weights are better. And more accurate. And since you can just put a bowl on the scale and keep pressing zero (tare) no mess
@@lauriepenner350 thank you! just fill up a dry cup measure with turkey shreds, how is this confusing??
Just got the signed version of the book, love that's its just the simple things that you can choose how to combine
I'm actually quite impressed that Ebbers and James actually made a chef-y meat-y trifle! Legendary.
these cookbook videos are my FAVORITE, please keep making them!
The sandwich is made from Thanksgiving leftovers . That's how you can measure shredded chicken.
But you don't usually shred Turkey do you? (I'm neither American nor a meat eater)
@@violetskies14 when using as leftovers you can. But you're right when eating the meal it's usually served as slices
@@chandajensen13 oh ok. I've never had Thanksgiving obviously and now thinking about it I don't think I've even ever seen a whole cooked Turkey in real life just on tv.
Excuse me: It’s green because of Rachel ‘Green’.
Mike as the very own Rachel should have noticed that
You CAN measure turkey in cups. Since the recipe specifies LEFTOVER turkey, I would imagine that they are referring to the little bits that you pull off of the carcass after you are done carving slices.
Preordered the book straight away. Exactly the kind of cook book needed. Hate googling how to do all those little individual bits with a meal. Can't wait!
Hi, excuse me James and Ben...the American is here. Ross' sandwich is actually made from thanksgiving leftovers. Typically thanksgiving turkeys do not slice perfectly but breaks away. Think of it like rotisserie chicken. So it is easy enough to measure half a cup of turkey
Its trifle time! 😉 I hoped for it as a sweet OR savory pass it on „trifle“ challenge, each with three layers with minimum height, presented in a big glass bowl... but you know you made my grey Wednesday a lot better with your upload 😊
We nearly got there!
This is the earliest I have been all month as I have been staying in school late to study. Love the videos
@NutriFIT nutritie si fitnes thanks

*Me: visible confusion*
Ben;s face told me everything I needed to know about this episode and I so agree with his reaction.
The moist-maker is supposed to be a classic “thanskgiving leftovers” sandwich, so I think the turkey is supposed to be like shredded roast turkey, not turkey slices, hence the “measuring in cups” thing
But again, why cups? Who's going to put shedded turkey meat in a cup? Just saying two layers of turkey meat, doesn't matter if it's shredded or sliced.
@@dportass Yeah i mean measuring in cups for cooking is not the best way to do it lol. I was just trying to figure out any possible explanation for measuring turkey in cups lol
