My favorite Alan Tudyk clip is him recording chicken noises for Moana and after says “I went to Juliard” 😂 his acting credits are insane idk if I could pick a favorite
He glossed over that answer near the end about his favorite thing he stole from Firefly was "a button". The story I heard him tell in an interview years ago was that it was the button from the episode Out of Gas, where Mal stays behind and everyone else leaves the ship. Mal was supposed to hit the button to signal to the rest of the crew it was safe to return. Alan gave the button to Joss after the show was cancelled and told him symbolically, if you ever want us to come back, just hit the button.
Joss Whedon has had an interesting reappraisal in the past couple years. I feel like for a while his shows were fair game. But it feels to me like people have newfound respect for his work now that he's been canceled for quite a while now
Separating the art from the artist is difficult to do sometimes, but there is a whole generation of people who grew upon Buffy, Angel, Firefly, and his marvel stuff and hold them in their hearts dearly, and were very sad to have Joss become persona non grata (rightfully). It is nice to be able to openly love his works while distancing from the man. @@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep
Alan is awesome. He recently made a reddit account to reply to someone who was super nervous when they met him at a con and said to come back. He posted once and I don't think he's posted since.
He made a second reddit account for that response. I wonder why he didn't use the u/AlanTudykHere account that he used for his CON Man AMA... well it was 10 years ago, so he probably forgot the password, lol.
I think Alan Tudyk has to be in the top three for actors that people have definitely seen, but don't really know. Absolutely insane pull for the show. Mr. Nobody is still the best live action DC villain, King Candy is incredible, his Joker is great, just an all round insanely talented man.
Doom Patrol, in general, is easily the best piece of superhero media (excluding comics) to this day and I really don't think it will be beat any time soon.
@@PlutosWorld oh man yeah its amazing. Does alan talk about it in this video? And I have only seen first season and half of season 2 btw. I found myself struggling with the pace of episodes. Does it get better?
I met Alan Tudyk about ten years ago. He was exhausted, sweet, laughed at my one terrible joke, and was an all around gentleman. A truly kind person. One in a million. ❤
One thing I don’t ever see people reference is his character on Dollhouse. Absolutely phenomenal performance from Alan Tudyk, and completely against his typical casting
his proposal story got me choked up 😢. my headcanon is that the guy on the bridge was his future self remembering the scene of his first moments with his wife
Between A Knight's Tale and Firefly this man cemented himself in my life, and watching him shift into voice acting and flourish has been beautiful to watch. What a treasure ❤
Thank you for mentioning Con Man! I was one of the people that backed it and got my name in the “fans” section of the credits 😂 I love Alan so much. He’s such a great person and actor ❤ Thank you for having him on the show!
As an Abilene native who is proud of our Taco Bueno heritage, and as an even bigger Alan Tudyk fan, this video is easily the best Last Meal ever. End of discussion. He is probably my favorite actor/entertainer. This man is an absolute gift.
Alan is definitely one frickin amazing human! I went to a convention a few months back and was so nervous to meet him. I chose a pic from A Knights Tale (my absolute fave movie!) & was asked what I would want him to sign on it. "To Destructivelioness For Lichtenstein !" then his name. When it was my turn, I guess barely anyone chose anything from the movie and when he saw what I wanted he took a pause. I told him that its my comfort movie and was happy to finally meet him. Alan wrote exactly what I wanted with pure happiness and asked me if he can take a picture of it to send it to one of the writers of it! Of course I said yes and the smile on his face made my year.
Oh, that's amazing! A Knight's Tale is my all time favorite movie as well. I cried when Heath died and I would cry if I ever met Alan, I'm sure. I'm so glad you had this experience!
There's only been two of these episodes that got me to cry, and this is definitely one of them, lol. I never realized how many mannerisms were shared between my husband and one of my favorite actors 😅 I posted back on the Hank Green episode that my husband's health was declining. He got better for a few months, but we just recently learned he has two tumors in his brain and may not have as much time left as we anticipated, so this hit pretty damn hard. It's a weird feeling laughing and crying at the same time, lol. Thank you to Mythical Kitchen for always bringing such incredible episodes. These are some of the favorite things that you do, and I adore these episodes so much.
I am bursting into tears at his connections to Robin first and now hearing how Heath essentially kept Alan together through his first real loss. Heath was so powerful, so beautiful. I wonder if Alan wanted to be there for him like he was so long ago.
The on-screen chemistry between the actors and the quality of the writing just made Firefly something special. As far as I know it didn't rate well because it wasn't marketed, was shown out of order, and put in a death slot to die. All because Whedon fought for the cast he had not the one the execs wanted. Gone but not forgotten, it was a leaf on the wind.
It's just sad because... Not only is it a fantastic show, I haven't heard many shows where every single actor spoke fondly of it and often referenced it even in future work. Especially Nathan fillion.
The way he reacted to that question about his friend’s death and Heath Ledger’s care was scarily similar to how I react about personal deaths in conversations! Simultaneously over and under sharing whilst trying to make jokes because you don’t want to break down. I’ve worked as a musician for most of my adult life. Watching lovely, talented and close friends and artists either die or become into husks of themselves through addiction is truly devastating and ironically can lead you (myself included) down very similar paths.
Josh is truly such a gifted interviewer. The way he can get people to open up, ask follow up questions to help them tell their stories, get them to feel at ease enough to talk about the hard stuff...it's truly amazing to watch.
A Knights Tale is my favorite movie of all time. Heath is and will be my favorite actor. Hearing Alan talk about his experience with Heath has added a completely new level of depth to two things I love
It has been years but honestly Firefly is still my favorite tv show. I feel like I should say “one of my favorite tv shows “ but that wouldn’t actually be true. I have loved Alan’s work since and before. Enjoyed this so much. ❤
1) I absolutely ADORE Alan, he is such a wonderful actor. He makes me laugh and I watch a lot of his things when I need a bit of a pick me up. 2) shout out to Josh and crew for absolutely KILLING this series. You guys have such an original idea and do so much work to make a wonderful and interesting show. I really appreciate this kind of interaction and interview space. It feels like it takes a lot of the anxiety away and strips it down to people just having good conversation and connection.
If I didn't already love Alan, this would absolutely cause me to go watch everything he's been in. Him and Nathan Fillion are two of my favorite actors!
I knew nothing about this man before the episode, but my goodness, I’m a new fan. This man is absolutely delightful. He deserves all the success coming his way. ❤
So sad, as a 53 year old man, I have just discovered Alan Tudyk 6 months ago when I just discovered Resident Alien on Netflix. And If I didn't setup a VPN on my Tv I wouldn't have access to the US Netflix version and still would not know of Mr. Alan Tudyk. I do enjoy a lot of TV and Movies. This actor never fell across my radar for whatever reason. Very Strange I admit.
When I say I let out an audible gasp when I saw this video posted, and I'm not usually a person who reacts to things out loud while I'm alone, that should tell you how excited I was when I saw this. Alan Tudyk is my favorite actor. Such a colossal force of pure talent. I had the pleasure of meeting him while in High School after seeing him in Prelude to a Kiss on Broadway. Our whole class got a special meet and greet with the cast. This was right after Dodgeball. Everyone was talking about Steve the Pirate. He was so nice, but seemed a little worn at the reference. I told him how I loved him in A Knight's Tale and he lit up and talked with me one-on-one for a good ten minutes while the rest of the class met with the other cast members. I only wish I had seen Firefly at that point. One of my favorite memories.
I remember meeting Alan at a convention some years back. There were maybe a half dozen people in line in front of me at the time. I could see him being super nice with everyone. Doing voices, quoting lines, being everything a fan could want. When it came to be my turn, I chatted with him about the most recent project he had going on, and it was like a completely different switch was flipped. His posture changed, his tone changed, and he just seemed to relax for a moment. It's great that he's so wonderful with his fans, whether they want to talk about a leaf on the wind or what he just wrapped working on.
Yay!! Alan!!! "I'm a leaf on the wind!" My husband and I watched Firefly when it aired, even though they showed episodes out of order and changed the times, etc. They never gave it an honest chance. Not to mention - Tucker & Dale and Con Man! So many magical roles.
Alan Tudyk is one of those actors that I've always wondered where the hell does he get the inspiration to play or spin a character a particular way. Steve the pirate is a favorite and I'm looking forward to him hosting SNL.
I got to meet Alan recently at a con. A knight's tale is my favorite movie and I brought the crew hat I own for him to sign and I loved the excitement on his face when he saw it.
This dude is crazy underrated, as a lifetime Star Wars fan with the tattoos to show it I can honestly say K2SO is my favorite droid and it wouldn’t have happened without him, and yes firefly was insanely good !
There are a lot of actors who have been a part of our lives, in some shape or form, for years, and Alan Tudyk is one of them. He's so funny, and so entertaining, truly a delight to watch. One of my favourites!
I adore the fact that Alan doesn't see that the burger and pizza are basically Texas and New York. Being blind to your own nostalgia is both wildly American and Hollywood at the same time, and it's adorable 😁
If I could meet any celebrity, it would be Alan Tudyk. He was the one who introduced me to the fact that voice actors are actually people. I have a knack for voices and faces, but I never recognized that King Candy was Wat from A Knight’s Tale. My dad watched the credits of Wreck-It Ralph with me, and pointed out that they were the same. Animated voices didn’t lose their magic for me after that. The magic got deeper, because people can weave spells with the ways they transform their voices. Thanks, Alan. You make flowers bloom in the toxic sludge of show business.
Firefly was the greatest show ever. I watched it every week and have rewatched several times since. I have it on DVD but no longer own a DVD player. Hopefully it continues to stream.
When alan was talking about when you see someone snd you think its someone that isnt with us anymore and you continue to think that until you actually see their face i almost started crying. Grief is something i know a lot about and ive definitely felt that kind of feeling before, its some strange form of hope i think, like you see someone who kind of reminds you of the person youre grieving and you really want it to be them because every part of you hopes that youll see them again someday even though you know its not possible
I've watched the Firefly show maybe seven or eight times. One of my 3 favorite games is Rimworld, which was inspired by Firefly. Alan was such an important role in the show, and it's cool to know about his life outside of it
Oh hell yeah! I love Alan Tudyk's work so much. He seems like such a fun and down to earth guy. Loved seeing y'all just sit down and have good conversations with dope looking food.
Ahhhh so happy to see Alan Tudyk on here! I don't think I've ever seen a role of his that he didn't do amazing in. And the research y'alls team puts together *chef's kiss*, and Josh's interviewing is top notch as always!
I love this guy. Dale and Tucker and A Knight's Tale are probably two of my all time favorite movies. I rewatch Dale and Tucker probably once a year, and just watched it the other night! He's so versatile, very similar to Mark Hamill. Alan, an underappreciated legend. And RIP Heath, another legend..
This dude right here is one of my favorite actor, just for that I subscribe to this channel. Wonderful interview, so natural and engaging. Great job guys!!
every time i see an episode in this series, the more im amazed at how good josh is at interviewing people. maybe its the theme around the show, or josh himself, but it brings out some great moments from the different guests.
Alan Tudyk is easily one of my favorite people that I've never and will probably never meet. I love Con Man. I was at FanX in SLC one year that he was supposed to be speaking. I think we were told he was going to be joining us remotely, but then they faked us out by telling us there were connection issues and he wouldn't be able to speak to us, and then he came out on stage and surprised everyone. That was my first time seeing Con Man. I still own the first season on Steam. So weird that I bought it on Steam, but that's what I did. He's so friggin' funny and talented. Never will he not be one of my favorites. Edit: Now that I've actually finished watching the video, such a legend. I love that man so much.
As a fan of Firefly and Alan Tudyk in general, I wish we could get like... a future version of the show where Wash somehow survived and it's like 30 years after everything that happened in Serenity
Out of everyone you've ever had on here, Alan Tudyk is my favorite! I'm a HUGE Firefly fan, and Wash was always my favorite character. But I first fell in love with Alan in "A Knights Tale". He was so standout in that film. I've always loved him.
Okay, I will have to say he's tied with Hank Green as mu favorite guest. If you haven't watched the Hank Green episode, it's perfect! Hank Green goes up on my list of best people, like Mr. Roger's, Bob Ross, and Steve Irwin.
LOL Firefly is great but i dont think its that similar to Cowboy Bebop (the animated show) but im pretty sure he was talking about the live action show. Also, now that he mentions it, i see the heavy Firefly influence on the live action Cowboy Bebop but it fails in its imitation of both Bebop AND firefly.
My introduction to Alan was A Knight's Tale! He was so freakin funny! And I was thrilled to see him in Dodgeball! Alan is a damn gem and Ive been loving his work!
My favorite Alan Tudyk clip is him recording chicken noises for Moana and after says “I went to Juliard” 😂 his acting credits are insane idk if I could pick a favorite

Alan Tudyk has always been one of my favourite actors since the Firefly days. I'm very excited to see him on Last Meals.
The overwhelming joy this entire interview has given me, thank you so much
Firefly was the greatest show ever. I watched it every week and have rewatched several times since. I have it on DVD but no longer own a DVD player. Hopefully it continues to stream.
It's great. Hope you watched the serenity movie too
@ In the theater on day one then so many times after.
I am a leaf on the wind. This line haunts me.
Saw his face and went “WASH!!!!”
First time I became aware of Alan was through Dollhouse where he played Alpha. Just a great actor altogether
I've watched the Firefly show maybe seven or eight times. One of my 3 favorite games is Rimworld, which was inspired by Firefly. Alan was such an important role in the show, and it's cool to know about his life outside of it
Tucker: "I sawed into a bees nest."
Dale: "Why?"
Dale: I snuck this in for you!
Tucker: oh...a PBR!
His love story with his wife is so cute and fun 😭 he’s truly such a lovely person
One of those actors who makes any scene better. Truly underrated, humble and genuine, was a great episode
Check out Death at a Funeral, it’s great as well
This dude right here is one of my favorite actor, just for that I subscribe to this channel. Wonderful interview, so natural and engaging. Great job guys!!
Such a fantastic Robin Williams story.
This was awesome. I love Alan Tudyk! He’s so funny and such a great actor. I’m so stoked you got him on the show!
Literally one of my favourite actors EVER. Loved him in a Knight's Tale
It's called a Lance. Hellooo-o.
ME TOO
1) I love Alan. He is amazing
2) such a great vid
3) Josh, you are an exceptional interviewer. well done!
every time i see an episode in this series, the more im amazed at how good josh is at interviewing people. maybe its the theme around the show, or josh himself, but it brings out some great moments from the different guests.
this has been the best guest you've ever had!! Alan Tudyk is fantastic and I've loved everything he's done. Leaf on the wind baby, leaf on the wind!
This man is such a treasure. I remember when all I knew him for was Firefly, but he's done so much great work.
As a fan of Firefly and Alan Tudyk in general, I wish we could get like... a future version of the show where Wash somehow survived and it's like 30 years after everything that happened in Serenity
Alan Tudyk is one of my favorite actors. So talented and so much range. Really happy he came on the show!
Josh makes a Firefky comment on A Hotdog Is A Sandwich, then a few days later has frickin Wash on Last Meals. FORESHADOWING!!!
Ohhhh I'm so stoked for this. So much love for Alan!!! I met him in Australia and he was just lovely.
Alan has been a favorite of mine for a long time. He's wildly talented and these glimpses of his humanity are heartwarming.
Robin Williams, Michael Jeter, and Alan Tudyk chasing each other's actor's tail is awesome.
He's awesome in everything and seems like a good chap. Excellent. 🖤
LOL Firefly is great but i dont think its that similar to Cowboy Bebop (the animated show) but im pretty sure he was talking about the live action show. Also, now that he mentions it, i see the heavy Firefly influence on the live action Cowboy Bebop but it fails in its imitation of both Bebop AND firefly.
my worst fear is people watching live action bebop and not sunrise corp masterpiece animated series Cowboy Bebop
Alan is probably one of the realest person you could ever meet. Him talking about his friends death hit so close to home.
I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar. 🖤 Love this man as Wash, and almost everything else he has done. Even Pirate Steve
My introduction to Alan was A Knight's Tale! He was so freakin funny! And I was thrilled to see him in Dodgeball! Alan is a damn gem and Ive been loving his work!
i have this feeling that Alan is one of the crew's favorite
This interviewer is one of the best I've seen. Great questions and a down-to-earth bedside manner. I want to see Alan on Hot Ones.
I absolutely and wholeheartedly love Alan Tudyk, and this just made me love him even more.
Meggie fanning out brought a tear to my eye. Such a cool moment. And yes, Firefly rules.
