It's a little different than food kits, but a restaurant that opened up near me about 2 years ago called Carmi started doing more buffet style cooking where they gave out plates and plates and plates full of wonderful, exceptionally made soul food. They have two restaurants in Pittsburgh, and I am lucky to work a block away from one; and before this started they had tons of people eating there, sometimes having live music on the weekends. Fun fact: Babka in Polish is not only "grandmother" (it's actually rare to call your nana like that, it's rather an antique word used in official language), but also it means bundt cake. It is not a type of pastry/cake/sweet chocolate bread, but a shape. It can be a sweet cake or for example potato babka (mashed spuds with bacon) or meaty one with minced beef. I highly recommend learning Polish and checking out recipies online ;)

Thanks Sorted for always giving us fresh content and genuine ideas to enable us normals to experience foodie satisfaction while helping out our community in simple ways.
Their description of the cheesecake reminds me of how my mom make it, and what I recognize as cheesecake before "New York Style" got really popular here in Texas. Its smoother, softer, and usually much bigger. ......also I'm dying to try the babka. that looked amazing.
I think a good part of these kinds of things is it teaches you how to make a poke bowl and then you can do it yourself. If you're a new cook and a bit nervous this can be a great place to start and you can expand your knowledge and skill and become comfortable in cooking and even a more experienced cook can learn things.
All of those look fantastic. A few restaurants were selling meats from their suppliers and one restaurant was selling meal kits and even started a delivery service for kits but it wasn't in my area so it wasn't easy to get. I was tired of going to the local store dealing with the people not abiding by the rules, long lines and not finding what I needed and started doing half my weekly meals from delivery with Hello Fresh. I've used them before and the recipes are easy, fun and no food is wasted. It's not for everyone but it works for me.

I love the idea od meal kits. Although while we were in senior thesis for my culinary science degree we made them but quickly found out that shipping is a hard thing to deal with. Logistics, price, etc. so it's incredible that local places are willing to try to make these to spread their foods!
It doesn't solve all those problems, but platforms like Shopify have made it possible for a lot of these companies to provide kits like this or spin up little online shops. It's pretty cool to see.

@@PandaCatXD the funny thing is most westerners I've heard say wakame (and keep in mind that I am Asian, I'm also Canadian) have pronounced it pretty accurately - whether they were saying it in English... or in French (although you're more likely to have the right pronunciation in the latter I guess lol)! Ben is one of the rare persons I've heard say it in SUCH an English way and it's even more amusing when you also remember that he's a certified and professional chef who seems to have a decent enough grasp on Japanese cuisine. Plus wakame isn't that hard to find nowadays in western countries, particularly if you live in or around a big city, like the Sorted boys do. I'm actually surprised no one on the crew noticed? A local ramen shop here in Sydney (Gumshara) is delivering all the components frozen - noodles, rich tonkotsu broth, chashu pork, pork rib, etc etc. I made one for dinner last night... DELICIOUS.
Ben: "Pineapple salsa, de-seed the chilli, chop finely..." Proceeds to NOT de-seed the chilli. Oh Ben.
You all do such a great job in reviewing food that it makes me drool as you eat!
i remember cupcake Jemma has a diy kit. i hope you'll check them out next
Ben scooping the chocolate from his plate in the first one is so relatable. "Yum" indeed.
Ben is literally the real life version of Amy Santiago
🤣🤣🤣
With a little pinch of Charles Boyle thrown in? He is an adventurous epicure after all, the gourmand of the 99
lol Jamie's smile is like "I GOT CAKE" the cake does look amazing and I feel said that I can't eat it, if i did I end up in hospital,
I think them boxes are an amazing thing to help out place that are really hurting right now and also when things go back, it be interesting if the stay around
The last time I was this early, I was born at 5 and a half months.
😂
Having worked with island poke before a few times. Could not be happier to see them featured.
I feel so sad for Barry that he's never had Caramac before. It's the most delicious not-chocolate bar you can get!
Babka in Polish is also a sweet pastry/bread with lot of variety :D Like choco, vanilla, lemon, "sand babka", yeast or easter... etc ^_^
Where is bens punishment for not eating a Big Mac? Cmon guys you can’t let him get away with that 😂😂
I've always loved the DIY kit reviews. Great job guys!
I wanna go to one of Ben's "poke" parties. You know, for science.
I loved Jamie's face as Barry was talking about cutting the cheesecake! 😆
Tuna from Norway? I get the salmon, Norway is known for the amazing salmon there, that we export to Japan... but tuna?
How good was the little excited dance from Barry at the very beginning 😂😂😍
Ben: looks at exposed brown stuff ... how often have you in your parenting duties.... braided hair?
Me: 😱😢 uff, okay, good. That could have been awkward.
I was on the same thought train... It missed hitting the platform by " " that much! Hahaha
These guys are like my mentors in cooking. I love them❤❤
If Sunset Boulevard was set in the SortedFood Studio: “Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my Cloche-up.” #CinephileJokes
Clever! 🙂😃😄
Kaye Henry I’m a Clever Clog 😂
@@PokhrajRoy. - Haha! Indeed you are!
Kaye Henry Thank you!
Watching on my lunch hour and ohmigosh, I want that babka! No kits in my area, but lots of restaurants offered curbside service.
*me watching the video having listened to last week's podcast: Hey, where's the ramen?" #spoilersMike 🤣
Love watching been binge-watching recently. I've been supporting my locals all through the lockdown.
My Fav is my local butcher. As a BBQ nut would love to see some more outdoor cooking.
Loved the Brisket you guys did, got some short ribs going on the Kamado for 8 hours tomorrow.
Love how you guys bounce off each other, epic.
Barry has no right to judge anyone if they have laminator. XD
Your videos just make so happy. Y’all make everything so fun
Sex-citrusy!! 😂 how do you even pronounce that, I went back multiple times to 8:43 but I still can't get it haha
I heard - Setrusy
It also sounds like sexy + tetrus 😂
I'm new to Sorted and loving every episode. I think I've binged about 120 episodes in the last week! Keep up the good work guys, It makes the days of lockdown that much brighter!
notifications actually worked for once
Elite Bistros have done some fabulous kits, great fun. Makes you realise why there are so many chefs in a good kitchen
I had to relisten to Ben's pronunciation of wakame: "wack-ah-me" lol. It's "wah-kah-meh".
Same, I feel like my soul ejected from my body for a few seconds because it's so odd to hear a Western pronunciation
Like do they all mispronounce wakame? 😆
3am again and here I am at sorted. Watching these blokes before bed has somehow become part of my nightly routine.
The most upsetting part of this video is finding out that Barry has never had a Caramac before.
Shuk is a street market in Hebrew. every Friday you can see tons of babka and challah for Friday dinner. this is a great gift you guys! you should get more Israeli food kits :)
Barry, why would you gift Jamie a babka kit knowing his sweet tooth is nearly non existent?
Don't get us wrong, Jamie does love a good pudding!
@@SortedFood as an Israeli, important for me to notice you barry is the only one who said "shuk" correctly. its more like "shook"
@@502rain Yay Barry got something right! 👏👏👏
@@SortedFood he is a pudding 😉
@@SortedFood Another Israeli chiming in, it means "market" in Hebrew! Love the vids guys thanks for all the content
edit: additional fun fact, it looked like one of the toppings for Baz's cake was an Israeli candy! The stringy looking chocolate log. It's called "mekupelet"
Watched this again and forgot all about how funny the “bloopah” was at the end and I burst out laughing 😂 thanks for that!
