  • TEDWomen is a TED event curated by TED that focuses on women and women’s issues. TEDxWomen events are TEDx events that follow the live webcast of TEDWomen, and also feature live and local speakers. Our event is called TEDxDelthorneWomen and we are one of the many TEDxWomen events that will happen around the world on December 7th, 2019. We will expand upon the ideas brought up at TEDWomen, while also relating it back to the Women of Los Angeles. TEDxDelthorneWomen was organized by Eraina Ferguson, a tech entrepreneur and journalist. Never miss a talk! SUBSCRIBE to the TEDx channel: bit.ly/1FAg8hB In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations).
June Marisa Kaewsith | Professional Artist and Wellness Consultant
June Marisa Kaewsith, also known as "Jumakae," is a professional artist, wellness consultant, and storytelling coach. As an artist, she has conducted spoken word workshops and mural projects with various youth groups, and has facilitated theater skits with community members addressing local issues from workers' rights to environmental justice. As a keynote speaker, she has motivated crowds through her original poetry in high schools, college campuses, and various nonprofit groups throughout California. Clients who have sought her as a storytelling coach are change agents who have gone on to tell their stories on large stages in front of thousands of people, entrepreneurs pitching project proposals and product launches to board rooms for a handful of investors and funders, and individuals or artists seeking confidence in their ability to speak authentically and perform their work publicly. Her online interview series, "Your Story Medicine," is an immersion of changemakers and entrepreneurs in the field of coaching, the arts, and wellness with an aim to inspire women of color to reclaim their ancestral healing practices. She currently serves as a speakers' advocate in Lisa Nichols' program "Ignite Your Speaking," and is an assistant business coach to Shereen Sun's Muse Business Academy educating clients on how to create their signature talks and workshops to serve as medicine for the masses. Through her additional practice as a wellness consultant, she is a 200 hr registered yoga teacher trained to work with survivors of sexual trauma through Peace Over Violence and a transformational life coach (which she rephrases as "life doula") with a professional certification from Leadership That Works. With her passion for the arts and somatic learning, she holds self-care and storytelling workshops for organizations and individuals to strengthen team relationships and wellness culture from a social justice and trauma-informed lens. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Since you invited us to start connecting with our ancestors, I've felt supported in a way that I haven't felt in a long time. The idea that "we are the ancestors we've been waiting for," empowers us as women of color to always be women of action. And this also tells me that I trust my experience and wisdom, connected with those who came before me, more than ever before. Thank you, sister.

Nice video content! Forgive me for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you thought about - Penichael Esteemed Preeminence (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a good one off guide for making contact with your own spirit guide without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.

I so resonate with this message! It is so important, for people of color especially, to reconnect with their Ancestors. For a lot of us, today's religions don't support, or actually shun any reverence to the ancestors. We are our ancestors Wildest Dreams - so it makes sense that we call on this "spiritual counsel" for support. Thank you June, for encouraging us and supporting us in this most Divine process. 🙏🏾

Yeah, I totally resonant with the "border culture" identity topics brought up here... Always striving to reconnect with our past but afraid of being labeled a fraud, heck, from people on both sides of our Chicano (Mexican-American) cultures.

The idea of connecting with our ancestors, continuing the work of our ancestors through our healing and then BECOMING our future ancestor is so empowering, especially as a woman of color. And it’s a beautiful reminder that our work doesn’t happen in the vacuum of this lifetime... it’s continuous and carries forward beyond us ❤️

I was happy to find this. I like the presence she's cultivating. That "what would I do or say as a future ancestor" thought was wonderfully simple and instructive for me as I feel kinda rootless myself

The shift I experienced during and after heeding/beholding/reflecting this share by Jumakae has been resonating and reverberating through me and out into the world for the past few days. I am beyond grateful for this transcendental message that was so timely and yet so long overdue. I am so excited to share this with my friends and family. Thank you Jumakae for sharing your story medicine. The healing power of your gifts re-generates and expands throughout.

I came here because of a dream I had, or because that spiritual world talked to me in my sleep. In which a voice told me to pray to my ancestors in Africa. But I was raised as a Christian even though I don't consider myself to be one. And according to Christianity I'm not suppose to pray to other God like things. So I've been looking for guidance which is why I'm here. But this woman really doesn't give you direct instructions on how to connect with your ancestors.

Those aren't your ancestors, truly sorry to say. Bible mentions it as familiar spirits. There's many good reasons to believe Bible is true. Could be fallen angel or demons. They are wise, cunning, and know lots of stuff and we don't know exactly, how. I say this with love. Please test the spirit. Test for yourself, speak in holy name of Jesus Christ.
