I saw you lecture 35 years ago. We laughed throughout your entire lecture. At the end, my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. Now, it's much harder to get people to laugh. Thanks for your longevity and hard work!
wow! made my day!. I came across Loretta over 30 years ago on a trip to USA .It was a Humour Conference ! she was the stand-up! I picked up some videos etc Will did them out or follow her here. I remember one quip" "I have the furniture disease: my chest has dropped into my drawers" something similar. Most women would relate to that! gosh I am enjoying it all again.
A co-worker went to our boss maybe 12 years ago and told him she was concerned about me. She thought I was depressed and needed help. My boss called me in his office and gave me a phone number to our company's life line. They sent me a booklet and a stress relief CD by her. I had it in my car for at least 8 years. My granddaughters had it memorized and would ask me to play it often.
Good co-worker, good boss, a lot of companies have 'done away' with consideration for their employees. Mental health has largely been relegated to 'someone else's problem'.
Loretta LaRoche is the queen of managing stress with humor. I so appreciate how she delivers important (serious), researched stress management guidance in a fun, repeatable, and memorable way. She demonstrates meaningful humor. Bravo Loretta!
My mother told me that I came into the world laughing. I always try to look at the funny side of things and am STILL told to "grow up" or to "be a man". The (mischievous) "little boy" in me has never left and might be what keeps me from looking my 60+ years. Having no children probably helps too. 😆 My wish is to exit the world laughing, or with a smile on my face. It's been a GREAT life and I owe it ALL to my parents. ❤ Thank you. 🙏
Omg! I love that you guys are implementing her suggestion. Nothing more beautiful than someone making an effort to better their life ❤️ Jesus reign over you !
I was in such a deep depression that the first time I laughed, I gave myself a serious headache. I mean a painfully throbbing, aching headache. It felt unnatural to laugh & thank God for Advil & cold compress that gave me relief. Happy to report that more I laughed the less & less of a headache I got until it finally went away. I have been headache-free for over a year now unless you count family. 😃😃
You remind me of the late & great Irma Bombeck. She used humor to share personal wisdom. You make my day, & I will have a silly grin every time I have to tame the stress 🤓🤭
"Why suffering in advance?" "When you lighten up, it shows your humility and it really breeds your connection to other people, because we're all vulnerable!" Love this!
KD Hovis I know!!! Can you believe there were 146 dislikes when I watched it!!?!? Some people are just, like Loretta said, walking through life with their butts puckered up... just squeezing like a big dog!, So funny 😂 wasn’t she??!
She’s not helping calm the ever arrogant New Yorker who lives inside me!! 🤣😂🤣 We do tell great stories and absolutely own a particular kind of suffering only close decedents of immigrants can know! Many of our stories thread through most of our ethnic families - guilt, suffering, anxiety, for many scarcity, (no matter how wealthy) and the ability to laugh our asses off at it all frequently! Miss my old neighborhood in the Bronx which was well blended so I could connect so easily with others from all places all my life. Back to this gorgeous speaker; thank you for sharing your wisdom and healing humor my Sicilian Buddha Sibling 🙏🏾😁
Loretta is the absolute, undisputed, beautiful Queen of living with humor and self respect! God bless you Loretta, thank you for your many, many years of sharing your philosophy with wit and humor and abundance of LOVE. ❤❤❤❤😊
I love her attitude and voice. She gives me remnants of the mother from As Told By Ginger. "Were not put in this Earth to live perfect lives where we never get hurt or we never make mistakes"I love her attitude and voice. She gives me remnants of the mother Lois from As Told By Ginger. "Were not put on this Earth to live perfect lives where we never get hurt or we never make mistakes. We're put here to hurl ourselves head first into this crazy world. The bruises and scrapes along the way just mean you're living life."
Loretta is officially one of my favorite people EVER! This talk came to my attention at a very poignant crossroad in my life and truly helped me. Revisit this constantly... uplifting, lighthearted and such a pleasure to hear. Thank you, Ma'am, an absolute inspiration!
I really got “tranquillo“ when I found this sympathetic, truthful and authentic description of a live, that is lived and handles today’s problems and every day life with healthy consciousness. It’s more than storytelling. It’s not elaborated code, it’s just what people should consume 100 times, to keep standing, to feel better and to be the person they are. That’s the only thing to stay healthy, to Keep standing real life. It’s more than medicine, it’s holistic. It’s from 2016, but it’s for eternity!
Brilliant talk! "I can tell you, people are going insane!" = even truer now we've reached 2021! I just loved the straight-talking...very refreshing approach indeed!
Omg!! I was just telling myself to stop complaining! And laugh about it! Cause this is crazy!! This anxiety, stress, worry is on my nerves. 😩😩🤣🤣🤣🤣 I miss my fun self!! This actually saved my sanity. Thank you universe for guiding me here!!!
I love you Loretta! I discovered you 21 years ago at a workshop, went out and bought your VHS tapes (yes VHS!). Shortly upgraded to DVDs. I would invite people over to watch you and get double enjoyment from watching everyone else enjoy you AND get Loretta Lighten Up refresher. I lost you in my shift to New Zealand 14 yrs ago, but I've found you again! And you look AMAZING!
You are so right in all you say! I like to see the positive and fun in life and so many people ask how I'm so upbeat - if I allow the negative in its like an energy vampire, so important to keep everything positive. I too chat to anyone, in a queue, anywhere and it drives my kids nuts but I always say " what if I was the only person to say hello to that person today?" Stay connected, stay positive, stay alive.. till you die!!!
one of my greatest visions in my life is to see the world lighten up... love it. thank you I needed this. I would like to know what she is doing today six years later.
If you think the worst & get the worst you suffer twice. If you think the best & get the worst you only suffer once. … What a great way to look at it. This inspires me to lighten up
I come from an Italian family in Brooklyn and I can say that I miss those days very much. No more family left, no community, life moves so fast, so sad...awful.
I loved this. 🥰🥰🤣🤣🤣 Another great tip is writing comedy about your experiences, explain what it’s like being you and share it with others. Like this lovely being is doing. Hope that helps someone. It’s amazing 😉 I’ve worked through some big stuff using comedy as therapy. Wishing you all a really loving peaceful day. Hang tight, this too shall pass 😍😍😍😍😍
The best best ever Ted talk. I really enjoy and it opened my mind. Thanks a lot. I also very surprise when she said 77 year old. God blessed your health to give more lession to us.
