    Cool demo. You shouldn't power your winch out, flip the clutch lever and free spool it. But I get it, this was for demo purposes.

      @@charlessprigg1731 you would think that a winch needs to do both. There would be situations where you have to pay out under load or reverse the load under power. I would also imagine that you should regularly test both switches (in and out) to make sure they remain functioning as designed?

    Hi Ingemar,
    1) Is the accessory panel in the roof on an independent circuit and fuse box?
    2) Is the roof pre-wired for lights?
    3) Is Android Auto bluetooth based or does it require a USB cable?
    4) Are the ports just USB or are there also USB-C?
    5) How easily can you interact with the map/music controls while driving? With the left side of the screen used for speed and other vehicle info, is it a large reach to the passenger side?
    6) How are the water bottle/cup holders in the door and center area? What about in the back seat?
    7) does the rear seat fold flat with the load floor in the production model?
    8) not sure if you have the auxiliary battery, but if you do, is it always hot, or is there a battery management system that let's you control what the aux battery is used for?

      very good questions! i will try to cover all of them in a video about the infotainment system and the interior of the car next week. coming back to you later with some answers as well...

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +5

      1.) I need to check that in detail. what i know so far: the switches on the overhead panel have a separate fuse (10A - obviously just for the panel) and each switch controlling the winch, the additional power outlets in the car and on the roof have a different rating (25-500A) so I assume they are on different circuits
      2.) with the high load auxiliary electric panel you get two more 25A outlets (under the hood and in the back of the car) and four 25A outlets in the roof reeling. there’s 4 plugs distributed up there and of course you can connect whatever u want - I will plug in an LED bar, the roof top tent and working lights for sure). I will show that in the video as well.
      3.) bluetooth…I have apple CarPlay and it works really good!! but of course u can use the USB connection as well. AND: you can connect several phones at the same time.
      4.) USB A and C (2 each). one set in the centre stowage box and one set in the back row at the air outlets (centre console). easy to reach from the front was well.
      5.) very easy to reach! when u activate SIRI (or the android equivalent) u can use voice control via a button on the steering wheel
      6.) one spot in each door (low), two in the centre console (with nice rubber damping so they won’t rattle and it fits various sizes). On the back seats it’s just in the door
      7.) nope, they don’t. i will show that in the video as well including measurements. I might get a customised drawer system so make it level though. keep u posted on that.
      8.) it is separated from the starter-circuit. you can Hotwire it with a switch on the electric console, then it provides power even when the car is turned off. The management system takes care of charging automatically and connects it if power is needed by the main battery.

    it’s a good option to be able to get a winch from the factory but it’s a $5000 option, also I feel personally the winch line is too short they did that on purpose so it would fit, also when unwinding your line instead of using the power just turn the knob and free spool out. Again it’s good to be able to get a factory option but if you get one without the factory unit I recommend getting one of the aftermarket kits and a warn winch you will have much longer usable line. 👍

    Hi ingemar,
    What is the access to the winch like? For either winch replacement, or to see that a full respool is lining up right and not binding? Does it come with a shackle mount or hook?

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +3

      that depends on your version as well (europe or rest of world). because of the pedestrian protection requirements in europe, they are constructed differently. i haven't got the manual for the winch yet (only intro by the engineers) but as soon as it's here, can provide further details to you! on the european version it is completely integrated in the bumper - i will check how i can access it.
      it doesn't come with any accessories, just the loop at the end of the rope.
      i already had a hook and a recovery kit and Ineos is offering a set as well.

    Signed my contract but waiting for a build date. Normally you do not need to have the engine running to operate an electric winch (unlike a hydraulic winch), however. It is recommended to run the engine to prevent a deep discharge of the battery system especially if you are running the winch for an extended period. It would be helpful if you could clarify if this is the case with the Grenadier.

      i just tried to get the winch running without engine. the problem is, the transmission won't stay in N (jumps to P when turning off the engine) and therefore the winch stops working 🤷‍♀. I will check with the engineers (got a contact) and refer back to you

    • @colindelaney7901
      @colindelaney7901 Рік тому

      @@grenadier_exploring Does the transmission jump to P when you switch off normally - if so that would be a major problem if you broke down and needed a tow.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +2

      @@colindelaney7901 in normal operation it does. but there is an override function to switch the transfer case into N for towing if the car broke down! that is done manually with a screw.

    • @colindelaney7901
      @colindelaney7901 Рік тому +2

      Not suggesting it is a good idea but I wonder if you used the override function to place it in to N would the winch operate. Very useful in an emergency (say if the car flooded in a steam that was deeper than you thought and would not start).

    Would never hold the winch rope like that ever again having had a winch remote malfunction and drag my
    Finger through the hawse fairlead, with the synthetic rope cutting and burning. Many many stitches later my finger looks OK but have lost feeling and goes white when cold so circulation affected. Hasn't stopped me winching but I never put my fingers through the loop anymore.

    I think you mean the car has to be in Park to use the winch, OR Drive, Neutral or Reverse. If I was was recovering another vehicle my car would need to remain in place as an anchor or if I had to watch my recovery (from a safe position) outside the vehicle, you couldn’t leave the vehicle like you did.

    • @grenadier_exploring
      @grenadier_exploring  Рік тому +1

      no, that was correct - the winch doesn't work in P. you have to secure the car with the parking brake and/or chock it if you wanna supervise it from outside

    Hallo Ingemar,
    versuche doch man deine Videos immer im Querformat aufzunehmen, sieht echt besser aus auf dem Computer. Außerdem wäre ein externes Mikrofon echt super, die ersten Videos waren sehr schwer verständlich, viel zu leise und die Lautstärke schwankt total wenn du nicht direkt in die Kamera/Phone sprichst.
    Ansonsten finde ich es echt so geil, dass du deinen Grenadier schon hast und uns die ersten Eindrücke aus der Kundensicht zeigen kannst. Alle anderen Videos sind einfach nur unglaubwürdig, von Influencers und Pressefritzen, die den Grenadier nur mal kurz testen und meinen uns dann erzählen zu können, was so toll an den Fahrzeug ist - sorry, das ist alles nur Bullshit. @@grenadier_exploring I run a mechanical disconnect instead of an electric one on my Land Cruiser, but it would be easy enough to change the wiring configuration of the Grenadier to use constant power into that switch/relay instead of the ignition switched power it is delivered with. Not a complicated job, if you prefer to have it available when the vehicle isn't running.
