If I may take issue with two things though. Many winch trainers will recommend (and this is a cut & paste from one) "keeping more than an arm’s length of the distance between your hands and the winch while it is spooling or un-spooling. Then, even if you are tempted to touch any part of the winch, you can’t. She also reminds us that allowing a winch line to slide through even a gloved hand is asking for injury. Instead, have someone hold the hook or nylon grab strap when respooling your winch."

Great instruction for using the factory installed winch! Based on your review I have ordered the Factor 55 Flat link E which I lwas able to get through Amazon in Germany. Unfortunately I cannot get the Standard spool over here. Maybe someone has an idea where to get this part in Europe/Germany.

Great video! My eyes almost popped out when I saw that the control panel switch for winch was 500A. Be sure to have engine running for sure or that battery is going to get sucked dry in not time. Is the winch on your Jeep OEM? 😃
Ya, it is a pretty stout electrical system. The Jeep winch is a factory mounting kit and winch ready bumper with a Warn winch designed for those two components, so sorta factory but there are no upgraded electronics to go with it.
Where are you in Illinois? I am in Naperville. I would love your advice on buying a new winch for my Fieldmaster, I did not order the factory winch but have the auxiliary battery and overhead switches so ready to go. Just need to get a winch.
Howdy neighbor, we are over in Geneva. Buying a non-factory winch for the Grenadier is a bit tough at this point as I am not sure anyone makes a winch ready bumper, so I am not sure that I can be of much assistance. That being said I have to think these bumpers are on someones drawing board and will be available in the not too distant future.
Can the winch cable just hook on one of the front recovery points?
I am not sure if you mean your own for holding it when not using it but if so you will need some sort of hook or shackle to attach it.

@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 I'm in NW Indiana. I am looking at the Ineos Grenadier possibly as my next vehicle! I'm hoping to get over to the dealership soon and do a demo ride! I need a daily driver though with Overlanding and camping as a secondary, so I'm on the fence still based on my needs!

@@Hangin_With_Shane Yep you definitely need to drive one before making the decision. I think the Grenadier is an awesome vehicle but given its design purpose it does have some drawbacks vs competition on road, weight (and fuel economy), steering (although I don't find it a big deal) and overall amenities vs. the more road focused alternatives.
One good thing is that Knauz (Chicago dealer) has both INEOS and Land Rover at same location so you could check both out at the same time!
In Australia the Factor 55 gear is ridiculously expensive, and for the price and versatility the ring is far more versatile as it can be used as a pulley/rope joiner etc.
Yes, it is really interesting that the Grenadier has this global following that is both bringing people together and showing the differences that exist in the various markets.
I believe both set ups have their place and am keeping both in the kit. I expect there is some sort of Factor 55 equivalent company in Australia that would substitute?

Great video! I have a Grenadier too, and I can't find a model number or a data sheet for the factory winch. Do you know where I can find this information? I need to know the drum size, line diameter, line length...etc...any help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated!
You will need to confirm with INEOS on their particular set up (or Red Winch if they will speak on it) as it is designed specifically for the Grenadier and may have modifications that we are not aware of but here is the NOMAD 5,500kg winch link for reference.

Winch protocol has moved on from metal hooks and shackles
For sure there is a school of thought to minimize or eliminate metal in the system, no doubt. The Red Winch set up is very minimal and still preserves the synthetic line. It is very important to choose properly rated gear and ensure the recovery points on the vehicle are properly chosen, i.e. no matter what you rig with using a tow ball as an anchor point is dangerous.

They work very well for me, and have done for the last 35 years.
I like your videos but you are not correct with winch lines. I work in forestry and I use just winch line and soft shackle and it never fail even after 2 years use. I have to eliminate all metal parts so it’s more safe. I found myself in the same loophole created by all those companies trying sell you all those no need products like factor55 etc. Winch line - good one don’t skip on price good soft shackles and you are ready to go. Less metal parts less flying objects around in case of brake line. Btw 2 years of heavy use and my liros line not brake on any area of radius you talk about. It is scam
@abazdarhon It's a valid point on minimum bend radius on synthetic ropes. When did a soft shackle come rigged with thimbles?
I appreciate the comment and your insight on your experience. From what I have read from line manufacturers is that, if the proper radius is not maintained, it decreases the working load limit of the line. As a professional you may have that already covered in your connections but for folks like me, recreational users at best, I prefer to take out any guess work. Maybe I am paying a few bucks for piece of mind but I am ok with that.
And what about minimum bend radius with your soft shackles?
I agree. If you don't introduce metal at all they won't break or fray. Just make sure they are clean.
The other issue with the Factory 55 is that a thief doesn't need C-clip players. Under pressure you still couldn't get the pin out. What they use is a pocket knife 🔪! Then you really have a problem the next time you lift that license plate cover, because not only is your $190 bling gone! Your winch line is ruined too! 😢
