We need a tutorial on how to upgrade the ram and what tools to use.
32 gigs of RAM + lossless scaling = something else. I have a Aya Neo slide 32 gigs of RAM 7,000 series chip. It can run Returnal w/ ray traced shadows & reflections on medium & get about 25-26 fps natively then double it to 50 with lossless scaling & it runs. It’s using 16 gigs of RAM to do it.
You can go 4x & pump it up to 100 fps too. There are no graphical errors or fracturing or any noticeable lag. I don’t know if a Alley X can do this tho b/c its using 16 gigs of RAM & the X only has 24 RAM total. But any windows device that has 32 gigs of RAM can do it.

It was a few years old and was extensively traveled! I’m guessing some of the issues were related to high altitude plus inept wiring in various properties.
I think 2026 at the earliest.
@@tropicaltrev1617 Im no expert but if battery is dead you can try unpluging battery connect usb C and see if turns on. I tried some time ago and works without battery, but if usb c is damaged you can try replace in som mobile repair shop for few buck (i think), but if is fried inside that is nothing you can do.
Well, the discontinued LCD Decks were discounted heavily some days ago. Don't expect a Steam Deck 2 too early.
also to mention you need a custom bios image for the support of 32Gb of ram and also allocate some of the ram to be Vram for the gpu

steamdeck 2 should have min 24 or 32 gb of ram with an eight core cpu for sure and we are safe
16 is more than enough for a handheld..What I would like to see is stronger GPU with more VRAM and 1080p..

Lately, been seeing more and more Ugreen appearance. They are really great better price compare to ANKER while their build quality is equal or might be even better than ANKER, meanwhile ANKER evolve really slow these few years while still charging for a premium price

I mean, it's not like Valve commissioned this one specifically. It was originally meant for a tablet, and after Microsoft didn't throw it in a Surface they shopped around and asked if anyone wanted it, and Valve basically said "Well, I guess we can", and thus the Steamdeck was born. Keep in mind it the APU only hit the Steamdeck about 2 years after release, meaning it appeared a lot weaker than it should have had Valve and AMD planned out the release of the Steamdeck for 2020, when the APU was originally supposed to ship. The Steamdeck is a big enough device now that they probably will get a custom design releasing in tandem with the next Steamdeck, so it'll appear a lot stronger compared to the market it releases in compared to the market the original Steamdeck released in.
Besides, it's perfect for catching up on older games while still keeping a really good battery life.

What we need from Valve is new steam box or steam console with at least ZEN 3+/RDNA3+ with 8c/16T that has both DDR5 and GDDR6 memory. Or steam box that just comes with 16 GB GDDR6.
We know AMD makes these SoC’s/Apus Cus both ps5/Xbox use Zen 2/RDNA2 soc. And Ps5 Pro comes with upgrade RDNA3+ (with some features RDNA4) but using same zen 2 cpu, with slightly clock bump. From 3.5 ghz to 3.8 ghz I think.
Of course it running steam os. We know Valve said steam os is coming desktop PCs and other devices. Which means other mobile devices. But we just don’t know when.
With rumours switch 2 spec close ps4 pro spec in dock mode (4+ tflops). Handle held Maybe better then ps4 (2+ tflops). Hopefully Valve will update with a steam deck2 with bit more power hardware. Zen 3/RDNA3 6c/12t or 8c/16t system and with maybe with 24 GB LPDDR5x

I so wish i could upgrade my SD to 32GB Ram but Soldering is my arch nemesis - and i hadn't found an upgrade Service in germany yet... Usecase: Cities: Skylines with Mods (i don't have that much mods but DLCs is enough to exceed the 16GB). Can barely start the Game with 16GB... Jeah, i resized SWAPfile to 16GB, but to start a Game it takes about 5 Minutes... IF it starts without the whole System crashing... But if i'm lucky enough to play a bit, it plays decent.
Ally X has already proven that more ram fixes performance issues.
Extremely slightly, and only with high texture settings. RAM-heavy games and having a sit ton of mods will benefit. Other than that, it's a pointless upgrade that costs more money than what you'll get back

There is no empirical evidence or objective evidence that justifies violating the Steam Deck at this level to connect additional RAM. Plus we're talking about Linux, which does a job several times better than Windows at managing RAM.
Just don't do it.

Is there any chance valve is considering selling an option for more ram? I know things are easier if you have the tools but I don't know if someone like me who's never opened a computer could do it despite having all the proper tools. I plan to play beamNG on mine and that game pretty much demands a minimum 32gb of ram. If you're going to reply and bark about how 32 is over kill please scroll.
They haven't said anything and the next model might be released around 2027, however this kind of modifications isn't for non tech ppl this is something that only technicians can do

@@vorsprungdurchtechnik5 well I think they might be high but the advantages of the steam deck is that is well documented so a technician who knows this thing could solve that, Valve design this thing to be easily moddeable (at least with the right knowledge) however if your SD is still under warranty I do not recommend you to modify anything of it
