I use it for a handheld and replacement desktop with the 64GB RAM model. I play Wukong while sitting with the wife for about an hour every night over a Moonlight/Sunlight stream. Its pretty nice and most certainly at the max size you could call something a handheld.
I was looking for a handheld gaming PC. I already have a surface pro 9. This 3 in 1 will be replacing my SP9 and adding the gaming option as well. I am too busy to game on a console or have a dedicated PC, but this is a good option for someone like me. It's also cheaper than a surface pro tablet.
Tbh I think this is a great idea in concept, execution could be better. Def not for everyone ofc but many people already want to use their mobile controllers with their iPad and some have done so with iPad mini/ foldable phones already. It’s nice that it has a built in option to attach controllers
I am the market. I needed a device that I could use to run my online business, create graphics, for gaming, and travel. This handles all of that without the bulk of a laptop. And at any time, I can change the format from laptop to handheld to tablet, which saves space on the road.
@@JB-tp6uj I find it hard to believe this is any less bulky than a laptop though to be honest, especially once you’ve added a keyboard and mouse which you’d probably need if you were actually doing work on it as well as gaming.
I have a Dell Latitude 5290 2 in 1 (basically a Surface pro 6 but heavier and more repairable) and a Steam Deck LCD and I just replaced both with this one device. I really like my Dell and I really wanted to like my Steam Deck but the screen was far too small for me and there a were a couple of games that either couldn't run or ran too poorly to enjoy. This device is great for my use case as 60% of the time it is my tablet 20% of the time it's a laptop and it's a handheld for the other 20%. Unless someone builds a something similar with better controllers and a better GPU I will be keeping this for a long time.
I see the point as a thinner laptop that you can actually put on your lap and uses way less wattage, but as a handheld it just seems like a mess. Jack of all trades but master of none.
Not really, they might be losing "your subjective reasoning for wanting a handheld", but that's not mine. I use handhelds so I can freely move from my bed, to my living room and to my in-laws when we stay on the weekends. I don't want a keyboard or mouse as it requires sitting up, and I don't put handhelds in my pocket and play outside because.. I'm not a small child.

I might be the perfect target audience for this. I want to upgrade my stema deck since I want a bit more performance and I need to upgrade my laptop since its quite old now. I could probably buy a rogy ally x for 800£ and a cheap new laptop, or buy a cheap gaming laptop for 800£, but first option leaves me with no good laptop and second option leaves me with no portable gaming. The X1 seems to be a good 2in1 device that can replace both my laptop and my steam deck. Keep in mind that my current laptop is the 12" PixelSlate tablet so the 11" X1 should be ok size wise for me.
FYI: EDID stands for Extended Display Identification Data, it contains data like manufacturer, model, refresh time and a lot more technical info, including display resolutions. So the EDID for the onboard display was probably missing the other resolutions that were added after you used the file.
I was more intrigued by the X1 mini - more 'manageable' size and the option to 'easily' swap out the SSD. I have visions of 'multi booting' into various OSs.
i have the onexplayer2, both of these tablets have the annoying onexplayer silver logo on the bottom of unit. also the software to control the unit never loads right under windows making the buttons not work right. hardware wise its nice and the formfactor perfect, but going for a tier one supplier like ally rog or buy the next steam.
Personally, my Legion go is quite adequate for travel and mobile computing and gaming, just wish that it had a small keyboard that doubled as a screen protector.
I modded my Gamesire G8 Galileo to accommodate large tablets like ipad pro 12.9 and Samsung S8 Ultra 15.6, as well as a Minisforum V3. It technically works, but is prettty ridiculous and the joypad lies unused in a corner.
