This channel gives me exactly what I want from performance tests on phones, taking it to new level of "performance". I feel so satisfied
yep most of smartphone tech channel are just straight up benchmarking the phone then show the FPS and that's fine but this channel give us alot of information even modified some of the content into something that we don't need it but need it, it gives me LTT vibes if i'm being honest
@@mehmeth9773 yes, they just play with it, they paid for the snap 8gen2 so they will use WHOLE 8GEN2
Best tech-nerd channel on yt, hands down
I wonder how he get into closed apple OS on such low level and get access to IDL and other resources!
I asked because I read in reddit that you need to pay a big fee to be able to install your own software into your own smartphone, I talked about Apple’s ecosystem.😅
💯
Bro this channels breakdown of the A16 bionic vs the A15 was THE BEST. I loved how you explained in detail the differences between the 2 processors. It's a far cry from other youtube channels who just put 2 phones side to side and open some apps as if that helps my hunger for under the hood knowledge. Thank you for this, you guys rock!

yeah man right? I love those teardowns into the little details.
He missed out Dimensity.

SAME. I get so bothered with channels claiming "speedtest" and then go on to open apps side by side, and check which one did it faster...
Never thought, I would be able to see so much details comparisons between many mobile SoCs before. Your content is extremely details and easy to follow with conclusive arguments. It is just a bliss to watch your contents, you deserve to get more like and subs guys!
This is just insane how much care/work you guys put on those videos. Hats down for all the team. That’s my number one go to channel from now on.
Hands down the best phone performance reviewer on the platform, most people will just say who cares about performance on a phone and just move on and show camera tests and what not, but you do the things that the others skip, a huge thanks to you.
These people have no idea that a phones processor affects the quality and performance of the camera.
@@menantumakawak some other videos there are bunch of people saying that, you might be one of them
On the contrary, most IT channels care about performance of the phone most in China.
that's only partially true.
look at px6 & px7 series, their processor is not fast and yet they are some of the best phones when it comes to photography.
While it is certainly fun to see the maximum numbers and compare titans against one another, I do wish there were more low and mid-range phone reviews that were this in-depth and useful.
It's like watching them send rocket cars along the desert flats hitting over 1,000MPH. That's fun and whatnot, but I just need a nice $15,000 sedan for getting to work and back :)
Just a bliss to watch such a high quality video, haven't skipped single second.

@@ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow The channel has 3 million followers on a video site in China. Video competition on the Chinese Internet is fierce, especially in technology videos, and this is the quality they should have.

I found myself constantly rewinding parts of the video because it's overflowing with information I couldn't absorb them in one viewing. Good job!
I was actually genuinely happy after watching your video. It contains a lot of nerdy stuff while still being fun, other big channels would have lost me as they get more technical. Thanks for putting a smile on my face and please do not degrade your quality once you get bigger cause you'll obviously get bigger. Love from Nigeria
How about making a video about maxing out battery performance by underclocking, debloating, optimizing etc., while still not turning it into a dumbphone. Given how in-depth you guys go, it would be awesome. Plus, I'm sure that is a very relevant topic for most people. I would love to see it!

@@Jbrimbelibap In my experience, a well optimized and debloated latest official rom is better then a custom rom.

They focus more on the bilibili, a video website in mainland China. They've got over 3 million subscribes there and 极客湾 is the name of their channel. I swear despite being a 22min long video, quality in making this is just superb all the way to the end. Keep up the good work!
This is what I love about Geekerwan, the testing is going up to the roof of the SoC performance limit, even I'm surprised by how well it runs the most demanding game without a sweat, altough with a thermal that could burn your hand lol

That may not be possible. Xiaomi is the only company that allows users to unlock their phones nowadays.
@@yxsun6073 Hacker tools: exist
You forcefully root ur phone via PC and an exploit that disables OS and does whatever it needs to
But that has big risk of ur phone getting bricked
@@narrativeless404 Nope, android by design "should" allow user to do whatever they want with they phone, including getting top level system access, there's no exploiting in place here (it is an equivalent of granting administrator permission on windows). But because this is a huge security risk (user can unknowingly grant malware full access to their phone), this option will usually hide and lock itself from the phone's setting. Xiaomi, Realme, Google are one of the few companies that provide official tool to unlock it and give you full control of the entire operating system. There's no trick or hacking needed and very low chance of your device getting bricked unless you change some core part of your device (installing unsupported android version on your phone)

Great video , I usually don't track SoC reviews, but really enjoyed this one. Keep it up
Wow... those are some seriously impressive results from the 8 Gen 2. It's nice for Android OEM's to finally put some pressure on Apple, competition is good for everyone!
What is the point of apple chip if the software is limited ? That's like owning a Ferrari that can only go 120mph lol
Only real issues is lack of good yields.
Apple has such an outdated and inefficient architecture that is heavily carried by TSMC, while Qualcomm is almost always stuck with the terrible Samsung.
@@marcosassari5603That's BS. Apple architecture is fine, they can build better one like the M1.
It's their API, drivers and software limitations that keeps them from achieving more.
@@marcosassari5603 In fact Apple produces an Above-average Architecture, the amount of Cache inside these chipsets is impressive, 8gen2 is mediocre because it uses ARM Design with few changes and has Only 8MB of Cache, while the A16 boasts 24MB, this makes the A16 CPU more efficient because it avoids access to DRAM outside the Chipset, the problem is that Apple did not do much this.
@@The-Heart-Will-Testify iPhones run better than any android phone. iOS provides a far smoother less buggy experience.

Wow! A complete, detailed (technical) and excellent presentation of a comparison. I mean this is an all-in-one comparison. Of course, I am now a subscriber of this channel. Worth the 23ish minutes of viewing and listening.
I won't lie, I've been waiting for this video since the last SoC showdown. The hard work and attention to detail preparing these tests is simply astonishing. I was surprised to find the rather minimal improvements of the A16 over the A15. I think I'll be just fine with my 13 Pro Max for quite a while.
Yeah. Apple won't say how less A16 improves, they just want people upgrade every year. A15 is enough for many years.
@@mikexia7711 I'm upgrading to the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max, but mainly because I've been holding onto the Samsung Galaxy S8 phone since its release (back on April of 2017) & because the iPhone 15 series will have USB-C charging ports.

Quantity is also sometimes better because the more quantity there is, there more practise you get and the quicker you get better at quality.
He really isn't a benchmark channel for phones, there's plenty of other channels that actually do what ur saying
@@YeahTheMitchs Thats not how it works
MKBHD is not lazy he just focuses on different aspects like user experience. He has said numerous times he really doesn't care about benchmarks because they don't tell the whole story, if it was up to him he wouldn't put them in their reviews, but people keep asking for them
He just doesn't have the team or the knowledge to build an efficiency curve like geekerwan
Mkbhd is so overrated and I wished people stop referring to him like he's the only person in tech. Cringe.

The fact you tested in Sumeru city instead of Mondstadt as most other reviewers who showcase the game only in Mondstadt with the base team truly showed the raw power of this Soc, I'm looking forward to the release of the S23 ultra where hopefully the performance will be even better!
They delibrately chose Sumeru City since it gives much more pressure on the CPU&GPU than the other three cities.

*I’m a first time viewer and I just had to sub* because I can appreciate *how tedious it must have been to run all these benchmarks!*
As an iPhone 13 Pro Max user, I feel somewhat vindicated in taking a pass on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. It seems that the rumors of Apple engineers dropping the ball on A16’s GPU design are more truth than rumor. Apparently, Apple intended to add raytracing to A16’s GPU cores, but they simply couldn’t manage the thermal envelope presented by iPhone’s cooling solutions. Early iPhone 14 Pro leaks suggested that Apple would use a heat pipe for the first time, but no heat pipes were found once the iPhone 14 Pro began shipping. It seems as if quite a few of those early iPhone 14 leaks were eventually abandoned once Apple decided to fall back to use the previous GPU designs used by A15, along with Apple recycling the previous years’s SOC for the very first time in Apple iPhone’s history.
It appears that Qualcomm has made significant improvements with Gen 2, catching up and even exceeding Apple’s A16 with the addition of hardware-based RT functionality. No one was aware of Gen 2’s feature set when Apple announced iPhone 14 and it clearly benefited Apple who had missed their internal features target with A16. It will be very interesting to see how Apple responds with A17, assuming Apple continues to develop new SOC’s annually?
I think the story behind A16 is likely far more horrific than Apple has revealed publicly. The fact that Apple was able to salvage A16 despite their A16 GPU failure is a testament to the effectiveness of their marketing. iPhone 14 sales are still dismal, but Apple was never forced to reconcile an entire year lost to a poor GPU design. It’s inexplicable that despite higher clocks, significantly higher memory bandwidth and even a die shrink have resulted in completely average performance and efficiency bumps for A16.
Lastly, what is up with MediaTek Dimensity 9200 and when will it ship in quantity?! I don’t know who’s working on MT’s GPU design, but their GPUs appear to be screaming fast?! MediaTek SOCs are often the choice for budget Android gaming handhelds coming out of China and I *cannot wait* to see some products based upon D9200 to arrive in US in Q3 or Q4 of 2023. With 10-core CPUs leveraging fast DDR5, we’re going to need some fast GPUs to get the most from all those cores.
Why’s this channel sooo underrated ??
Tbh it’s surprising, this is my first time watching a video from it but…. Lol I subscribed in the first minute 😂
