In these couple of lesson videos I will show you how to play "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC in it's entirety.
The first video demonstrates all of the riffs that make up this classic rock masterpiece. The intro is probably the most difficult of all the riffs to play. That intro uses a little bit of hybrid picking to make it sound like the album. If you don't have any experience with hybrid picking it can definitely take some time to get used to. But developing the ability to hybrid pick on the guitar can drastically expand your playing so I highly suggest learning how to do it.
There are plenty of lessons here at GL365 that demonstrate hybrid picking in detail with some great exercises to go along with them. Or you can start learning the technique by tackling this intro to "You Shook Me All Night Long".
All the other riffs are quite basic and won't pose much of a challenge to a majority of guitarists out there. In fact, all the riffs that occur after the intro would be great for a beginner guitarist to learn since they are very physically demanding by teach good rhythm skills.
The guitar solo (taught in the second lesson video) is mostly based around the G minor pentatonic scale and includes a few nice and challenging techniques that you can practice.
In this Shook Me All Night Long guitar lesson I will fully explain all of those little details that make this solo so great. The biggest challenge is definitely all of the bending going on during the solo. There isn't a lot of fast flashy stuff which can make this solo sound easy, but rest assured those bends will take some work for most players.
We not only have your standard type of bends but some pre-bends as well which ratchet up the difficult level quite a bit.
My suggestion when going through guitar solo lesson of this You Shook Me All Night Long guitar lesson video series is to memorize the first section first, then the higher octave section after that.
That will enable you to concentrate on the individual difficulties of each section without getting to bogged in all those bends. :)
Good luck with this masterful classic rock song from the great AC/DC and Angus Young!

Carl, this is from someone of The Netherlands. It has to be said: you really are the best. If I want a song to learn, I always search for you, because you are very clear in your explanations and showing how to deal with the song, the different parts and, not to forget, with the solos. And always with patience. I'm not a beginner myself but with you I every time learn much faster everything and, more important, in the right way. Besides all of this, you're gifted with an amazing skill.

    Hi Carl,
as a big fan of your outstanding great guitar-vid-tutorials I must say a big thanX to you.
As a very late beginner on the E-guitar (I turn 60 in this November and I started to play E-guitar around 4-5 years ago when I finally managed to get my hands on a Gibson Les Paul Studio😉).
I never took any lessons, just takeing a close look at the "how-to-play-tutorials" like yours on YT.
In my modest opinion you're one of the best guitar-teachers on YT, really appreciate your stuff. You / your vids taught me loads of riffs of my favorite songs / rock heroes. Once again: thank you so much for that.
Nevertheless, ..one tiny little criticism regarding this video: Why so much distortion to the sound, ...this is definetly not typical for the unique AC/DC sound. A liitle less would be much better, ...maybe next time🤔😉😎.
Take care + stay healthy in these troubled times
    Greetings from Germany
    Thomas

You did it again!! buddy, perfect video ! for all the riffs. Because I am Using this Vid to learn ACDC for my band, and we will play at a local bar. But i like the way you go though all the parts, nice and fast, and accurate, with out missing anything... which is perfect, because so many other [people in youtube land] tend to miss little parts here and there, but you dont leave us guessing at all, and so thanks a lot !! Keep up the good work; only do me a favor , and please mention the # of repeats for each chord, or the # of bars, or measures or something, that way i dont have to also listen to the song separately on my CD or whatever... but only if you want, ... since your dissecting the song anayways, would it me that much more work to count ? if not, then please mention these numbers in the vids you make! and then you'll be Super Perfect! but you are already pretty awesome !

Gaurdian I got an acoustic electric and started with that and then got an electric and I can tell you if you r just learning guitar it is a lot easier to learn on acoustic and most stuff transfers well , imho playing an Electric is definitely harder because you have to mute stuff and a lot of sounds come out that you don’t intend So get started on the Acoustic and before long you will be Rocking on into an Electric because once you actually learn some stuff the I nNEED more kinds of Guitars Bug will be part of your Life Rock on 🎸🎸🎸😎👍
