ARMA 3: Contact | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary

ArmA 3 is a game that is very dear to me. On my other channel k0noa I have made hundreds of ArmA 3 videos and storylines and have put over 2500 hours into the actual game. Yet most of that was all about playing around with the map editor instead of actually playing the core game. Yet in 2018 they released an expansion for the game that really triggered me in a good way. ARMA 3 Contact tells a short story of the US army coming into contact with alien life in Eastern Europe. The pacing and buildup of this campaign and story is excellent. For the first few hours there is not that much action happening, but it is still all very engaging and interesting and you have many questions that you want answered.
Ironically I think the weakest part of the campaign is where you are on your own and have some combat you have to deal with. Luckily the finale is very epic and thus ends on a high note, but this might be Bohemia's best dlc and maybe even best story campaign they ever released. I would love to see an Alien Contact expansion for whenever we get ArmA 4.

OK, just finished watching.
As for the video itself, it was quite good in the beginning. For a video titled as "walktrough" it was a lot like a movie. Then the cracks in the editing started to show (reloads, fiddling with menu, etc.).
As for the game. Arma3 is what Crysis should have been and this DLC cements that in genre as well as in format. Moreover, the first 3 quarters were a cinematographic masterpiece. Then the end fell back into the familiar "let's defeat the opposing force" scheme.
Politically speaking, I don't think that the whole theme of Ruskies being the "good guys cavalry" rescuing a smaller Slavic nation from blowing themselves up aged well.

I disagree. Obviously, there is a story, and quite a good one. And there's also quite enough action. Though the best description of this thing would "procedural drama in a science/political fiction setting" I guess. Arma was headed that way for a while now so there's really no surprise here.

@karel3183 I agree, most people are so use to playing the game with mass amounts of combat and when they see this dlc they kinda are taken aback, I personally love the idea of the dlc where the enemy is never actually seen

@@M4R10_ If you want action, arma isn't for you. Arma is a slow-paced tactical and realistic shooter. 70% of your gameplay is just waking/driving no matter what gamemode you play. Thats how real war is.
