But the new AC-130J and Ws can now carry GBU-39 SDB, GBU-69, AGM-179, and AGM-114. Afaik they can also carry the GBU-53, but I could be wrong. Removing the 20mm and 40mm, adding bombs/missiles and the 30mm GAU-23 does make it an overall more effective platform.
You mean 25mm and 40mm L/60. It's okay to be replace them by twin 30mm chainguns as long as they are accurate previously when they tried they were unable to get them accurate enough, this was for single 30mm. Beside that I still want 105mm howitzer. All the other pgm are also good addition.

Bofors replaced them 40 L/70 and 57mm guns post WW2. At least with F35 introduction USAF won't have problem with finding 25mm ammo, previously only USMC AV-8 series harriers had it.

The AC-130 is rarely, if ever, going to be used in anything but vastly asymmetrical conflicts because of it's vulnerability to fighters and rocket-based AA platforms. This applies to the concept of really any fixed-wing gunship. It's main target is a force like the OEF Taliban, or ISIS, or what have you, where night vision isn't something most soldiers have access to.

i remember watching a documentary about the Taliban and they were interviewing one of the leaders. they said they were only scared of one thing during war and thats the Angel of Death - the AC130 Whiskey.
This was absolutely fascinating to watch.. Being able to witness the operation through various different perspectives on the ground and in the air truly enriched the ability to convey what was happening at every step along the way. Almost as engrossing as actual combat, only without the misery and spectator guilt.
Watching this was really cool, Karmakut's other videos. I'd love participate in such an experience. Would be really thankful if anyone knows a good community for these types of ops/scenarios which is noob friendly/EU based.
I love these little assaults!! There so well done not to mention very coordinated. I would absolutely love to see more videos like this especially with the AC-130 C.A.S.

More videos of missions like this, please. If you want to add some additional suspense, sometimes one or two of the guns go down on the aging AC-130's. You could use a normal 6-sided die to determine which one(s), then have to make due with whatever gun(s) are functional.

Depends what platform. Anything but newest AC-130s carry the GAU-12 25mm Gatling gun (what creamed the technical), 40mm Bofors or the L/60, and the 105mm Howitzer. The new 130s are two 30mm chain guns and the 105mm, plus varied munitions. So yeah, depends what Arma put in there.
Ya know being in a jet and getting hit by a sam is one thing and with today's technology its survivable. But imagine your the gunner of one of these AC 130's and all of a sudden the tail becomes separated from the plane sucking everyone or engulfing everyone in flames until you hit the ground. Theres no ejection seats in these. The gunners are literally standing up and walking around back there. I just couldnt imagine.
@@MartianV2GG kind of necrocommenting but just wanted to chime in, ARMA3 is not really a gpu-bound game. You'd benefit more from a CPU with good single-core performance more than with a better GPU.
@Duke I've even upgraded now to a i7 10700k and rtx 3080 from a i5 10th gen w/64gb of 3400mhz ram and the game still preforms abysmal the second i join a mp server with more than 20 players / ai it will go instantly from 300 fps to 40
When was flying into a possible enemy area and shutting down a thing? Those birds are just asking to be taken out. You drop on the deck, Joe's offload and the air assets bug off. Ensure you have a possible evac if it goes South.
