Queen Mary 2 is not a cruise ship, she is the only ocean liner afloat today. In a rough sea, QM2 is the safest ship today. As well
befitting a Cunard ship, she has a higher ratio crew to customers.

To be honest, as much as I love her, she was the worst. Even I will admit that she isn't the best because she sank after just 5 days of service. I love her nonetheless but she was definitely not the best. Olympic, Mauretania, Queen Mary, Normandie would have been better choices.
ive been allure of the seas 4 years ago. the interior is so awsome! we eat lunch, jumping in swimming pools, so much fun.

I've never been aboard one of these cruise ships, but I've heard that the really big ones, like these are family oriented so that children may accompany their parents. I've sailed only the transatlantic liners and they are geared more toward the mature crowd. The last I was aboard was the QM2. It was exquisite.
Why do they call these things ships? They're floating condos/malls. I miss the classic beauty of a true ocean liner. SS United States, SS America, France, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth ... those were real ships.

Samuele Fusi they are, but the problem is rcl only shows the public these models to get their reputations up, but they never end up building them. Like that one with the sky blue hull is a disaster, it made the even uglier. Discusting color. They only made it like that because it came with the steel color, and they were too lazy to paint it. Disney isnt, and they take the time to paint it, and detail it by hand.

Having served for several years onboard US Navy aircraft carriers I thought those were big ships. I was on CVN-65 when she pulled into Ft. Lauderdale. I felt like I was on a tiny rowboat.

I've had the pleasure of spending a week on the Oasis of the Seas. And I highly recommend it!!! Beautiful ship inside and out! And man is she HUGE!!! So big, that you forget your on a ship! My room was on the 15th floor! Don't go looking for the 13th floor either, there isn't one! Happy sailing!
I personally think they did a good job with Queen Mary 2. Also the disney ships look more ocean liner than cruiser. But i agree the rest look horrible. Size doesn't always mean everything

Check out Joe Farcus interview and Carnival has this design on a prototype ship 20 years ago. I think the idea of the aft water slide is from the Carnival Pinnacle. Just speculation.

My parents were on the Oasis of the Seas.
The allure and oasis are sister ships along with the harmony of the seas. They aren't any bigger than each other besides the harmony is a touch bigger because of newer features
You can't pay me to go on these floating apartment complexes. The Titanic and her 2 sisters may have been a lot smaller, but they're the perfect size to me, plus way more luxurious. These things are just like those floating casinos in los Angels.
PLUS fact: Titanic and her sisters are more safe then these ships. They had a deeper drought then some of these ships and they where built with sharper bows, meaning they can go through storms much easier. They also could've stayed a float with more compartments then these ships

Harmony of the Seas coming out next year is being touted as slightly bigger than both Allure and Oasis. It's the third Oasis class ship built, and basically the same length but slightly more tonnage. I'm not sure if it hold more people.
I just disembarked Carnival Dream. the ships weight ratio to passenger count is ridiculous. at 129 thousand tons and passenger and crew compliment nearing 6 thousand, I was miserable. has anyone who has cruised on Allure or Oasis had this problem? BTW. shame on Carnival for removing public spaces and putting passenger cabins in its place
+styldsteel1 I have never been on Oasis but I have been on the Liberty of the seas and It is a lot better than the dream. It is has a lot of room and only carries around 4,000. I have heard that the Oasis is even better though.
well then i;m pleased to see that Carnival isn't setting some sort of a new trend because as a passenger, that just doesn't work for me personally. At times I even thought about the safety factor when at the shows, I couldn't lift my arms not one inch without knocking into someone's arms. The only piece and quiet was in my stateroom, or library. Sounds like Liberty is better planned out.
It really is. It is a lot more roomy. The atrium is a lot better than the Carnival ones.

Harmony was completed in may 2016. This ship didn't exist in 2015.

Are these liners capable of withstanding a kick ass storm? Or are the British liners more capable? North Atlantic. Big water out there.
It's not right to call them "liners". They are just cruise ships and they aren't really made for rough storms on the oceans. The only genuine ocean liner in service today is the RMS Queen Mary 2. But the Oasis-class ships (Oasis-, Allure- and Harmony of the Seas) behave actually pretty well in storms, much better than the smaller ships.
All of these arent. Theyre crappy, cheap cruises meant to only sail on small tiny waves. If you look at the anthem of the seas, it sailed in a tiny storm, and almost all passengers got hurt. However look at the disney fantasy, sailed right into a hurricane and everyone was safe and so was the ship. Meant to withstand very harsh wind and waves
