if my family knew that ovation is coming to sg we wouldnt have booked on mariner of the seas amd waited for 2017 as thats the year ovation of the seas is coming to sg but nonetheless we didnt regret as service and all was great

Cool video! I've been working for 5 years as ship's photographer on different vessels including Oasis of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas. Honestly can not understand why people like to travel on such big ships, it can be interesting at once, but no more. If I decide one day to travel by sea I will choose some small vessel or yacht. Only on small ship you can go in some interesting ports, you can come very close to icebergs and glaciers, you can come inside some small gulfs and bays, you can visit some places unaccesible for all these monsters.
My days of cruising was grand like The Love Boat people dressed for dinner etc. most friends & family come back saying Never Again too. many ugly bodies
In my opinion, I don't like modern ships. Yes, we have made ships of crazy heights but the height has removed the uniqueness of the design. When I look at modern ships nowadays, I see giant floating apartment buildings. (flats)
If you watch videos about ocean liners you will notice that a lot of people share our opinion. Then the opinions vary about which ship is/was the most beautiful. Personally I prefer ships like SS Andrea Doria (1951), SS Rotterdam (1958) and SS France (1960). And to me the Queen Elizabeth 2 (1967) is the last beautiful liner.
Especially the four stackers were awesome. Totally 14 were built, between 1897 and 1922, 8 of them were British. It's just sad that none of them is saved. For that matter no transatlantic liner built between 1845 (SS Great Britain) and 1936 (RMS Queen Mary) is saved.

It's sad that some of these companies think they need to continue to go bigger and bigger. You can do great things with a ship that is between 100-130GT. with proper planning and design. Ships like the new Royal Caribbean ones show me they are all about the $$ trying to shove more and more people into a ship and creating 10 new classes of rooms to charge more money.
I have cruised on large ships of this size and to be perfectly honest, I liked the Norwegian Gem the best and she is 93,000 tons. I think she is the perfect size, not too big and definitely not small.

I like the designs of the White Star Liners and the Old Cunard Liners, the SS Andrea Doria is beautiful though still.
