2:10 he says most important thing! SUNFLOWER OIL. High iodine value, yet fully non-cancerous when hit up. This is the same secret I discovered. If you use cast iron, and want non-sticking effect - this is the secret. This grill is basically massive cast iron pan.
Actually, teppanyaki (and flat-top grills in general) are made of stainless steel and cleaned with pumice bricks after hours or between uses. Sunflower oil is used here due to the prevalence of frying noodles and because it has a higher smoke point than other oils, negating the need for zoning your grill temps; more usually, olive oil or simple canola is used :) Although, you are spot on with the cast-iron tip
HI John ,,, im Linda . You can find lots of japanese knives on Ali Express and i should imagine the y Sell the holders as well .... Try knife scabard holder Or just type in knife holders
The hibachi (火鉢 "fire bowl"?) is a traditional Japanese heating device. It consists of a round, cylindrical or a box-shaped open-topped container, made from or lined with a heatproof material and designed to hold burning charcoal. You teppenyaki.
Alright i give it to this dude. Normally i watch these videos and I'm like, the dude just sauted some shit on a flattop and does "Flashy" tricks. This dude is legitimate entertainment. Fuck yea i'm hungry.
Literally a bucket of basic quat, changed every 4 hours, and 40 seconds of soak in between uses negates your comment. (If youre thinking a machine, think again; the sanibox is an alternative, not a requirement. That's why the 3-compartment / pan sink in every kitchen with a dishpit never has one but has a main quat line ) Honestly, most of you should really invest the $150 bucks into a ServSafe certification before opening your mouth for speech OR food... You are dangerously underinformed, to be engaging in either activity, lol.
@@The_Eldest_Millenial hi dum dum. Tell us... how long did Hose apprentice? How long do Japanese chefs spend before they're allowed to cook? I know the answer. Is 5 years enough? 10 years? Anyone can flip a fork hippy. Enjoy your $50 Mexican rice(worth $1.99) 20 years to serve sushi? Tell us oh great and wise PC NPC.
Hard to believe angry comic is acting superior. Get back to work bus boy, those dishes aren't going to clean themselves. Oh but before you do that, grab a mop and bucket. One of the customers just puked on the grill from samanilla. Make sure you dip the mop for 40 seconds.
i have no problems with this chef, and he's very good at it, but just wondering, since it's a "japanese" restaurant, don't some people feel cheapened or ripped off if their server isn't japanese? It would be like me wanting a german car made from germany instead i get one made from china. Or imagine going to a caribbean restaurant except it's owned by chinese and cooked by chinese chefs. Anyways, he's a fine chef, but always just thought it odd when i see a filipino or other non-japanese working at these teppanyaki/hibachi restaurants.
Guy Forget Don't really need to be Japanese to make Japanese food. I make burgers all the time. Burgers are of German-origin. I'd say may burgers are pretty legit :-/
This is not Hibachi, but that's very interesting. The origin/shape of something has gradually changed in the process. That's a indication how people have different perspective.
Sorry no. God bless Mexico and his skills but Japanese chefs spend years before they're allowed to cook anything. Why do you think they're going crazy flipping stuff around? Sushi chef is 10 year apprentice, 20 if you want to serve. Congratulations you just paid $50 for Mexican fried rice.
It's not Japanese either. Not one of the chefs is Japanese. Being from Japan, it's obvious by their accent. Also, their showboating theatrics and food is purely American. Both the cooking style and food are completely different in Japan..
Daniel T who cares both of you are bitchy lil bastards. It’s food, it’s gonna be in a toilet later on. Acting like y’all are professional chefs or something
Dave's World 77 -Umm, sorry to disappoint you, but nothing Japanese at these "hibachi" restaurants. The food is definitely not Japanese. You would never find any of it served to Japan. Yeah, it's a teppan grill, but the cooking stylist totally different. The chefs are Asian, but they're not Japanese. Big difference - culture and cuisine vary greatly country to country.
These places are so overly priced. It's criminal. Some hibachi places have really good fried rice (Benihanas is shit) and for a meat eater, I like the vegetables with the ginger sauce but everything else do at home and save your money.
what a blessing. To have a profession wherein you not only feed people but spend your time doing so bringing joy to them.
I just recently applied for their 5 week training just so I could do the same
Facts
respect cooking in front of people is not easy
I tried jing off infront of people once and I could only halfway finish
I know this video is old but hibachi is art and hard work. Id show every bit of interest because it's entertaining and foods amazing 💗

This is the biggest, coolest, greatest, most brilliant place I’ve ever seen!
watch all the videos of this kind of cooking you will see this chef is by far the best
1st. Amazing. 2nd. Do these jobs pay well? Seems like very tedious work to cook and put on a show at the same time.
true and I want this job
like $60k a year
These guys are A 1 professionals and they love when they do.

Ha watching the woman on the left corner struggling to use chopsticks. And she holds them way too close to the tip.
I wonder how many eggs are in his hat
Anyone else notice that this guy holds the knife by the blade
Linda Rupp cause he doesnt play that shit.
+Linda Rupp I'm guessing so he doesn't burn his knuckles?
he must be using a very sharp knife that doesn't require much effort
wow,,,
Gotta love that raw chicken blade used for every other cut.

Look
If I go for hibachi and a Mexican dude is cooking my food I'm out!! It's about the experience for me of the food and culture /people .
TD-us go for the food and the culture behind the food, not the chef making it, unless if its some celebrated chef, like ramsay
But... There's no hibachi restaurants in japan
