One of the most common questions we get, particularly on this video with Zappa and Orbison (but also Steve Allen, George C. Scott, Michael Jackson, etc) is "Why are some graves left unmarked?" It's up to the families to ensure that a grave is marked. Sometimes the individual or the family decide they just don't want it marked for one reason or another. Other times they don't have the money to place a marker, or just haven't gotten around to it yet. Sometimes it takes time. For example: In the case of John Wayne, surely one of Hollywood's biggest stars, it took 20 years. And according to some Jewish tradition, graves aren't permanently marked for up to a year. With regards to Frank Zappa and Roy Orbison, as I understand it, Zappa didn't want his marked, and the family of Orbison says they just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Hollywood Graveyard that makes sense. I also heard family's don't want to worry about vandalism. I feel Roy should of had one along time ago, I wonder what's taking time so long?
As always, your rare ability to communicate with clarity and warmth is greatly appreciated.
They're too busy spending all his money.
Frank specifically said its not importa t to be remembered
Hollywood Graveyard 😭😭😭😭
Thank you for mentioning Bettie Page, even though she isn't considered as an actress but a model, she made a historical impact. Bettie was a woman ahead of her time. I used to be so obsessed with her in high school. I always miss my Bettie bangs 😇
Minnie Riperton had one of the most amazing voices of all time. She was taken from us way too soon.
Here here
I Love All Songs From Minnie Riperton 🥰
Mr. Frank Zappa- my all time musical hero. His output in his short life was truly prolific.
After his passing fellow bandmate, George Duke, said that in retrospect, Zappa written & performed so much quality music, it was almost as though he'd knew he would not live a long life. George Duke is now deceased as well.
Rest well, Mr. Zappa & Mr. Duke. God speed, brothers !!
I been to this cemetery because of these videos and let me tell you it’s surreal, it’s surrounded by a busy city and tall buildings but once you get in it is quiet and so surreal. I could spend hours in the cemetery just looking at all the names and all the history. I hope to go back some day
Love Minnie Riperton and Natalie Wood. Thanks as always for sharing especially all of your research.
Last time I was in this cemetery was right after Natalie Wood was buried. There were so many flowers surrounding her grave you couldn't get near it. Back then the park was not so well kept up and the fence was down. I remember there were so many ghost stories about the place...especially by the tree toward the center of that area.
Minnie Riperton! My ♥
Did you notice the little ladybird on her gravestone? I thought that was sweet!
Minnie Ripperton had such a stunning voice. She left us way too soon. And that scene with Domonique Dunne gave me chills it was scary af! She too left us way too soon may they both Rest in Paradise.
As a fan of Roy Orbison. I find it sad that he is buryed in an unmark grave. Rip
maybe he didn't want a marker Zappa didn't some do not wanna be remembered that way but as they lived
It is confounding. He was one of the greats!
the king buried
Cryyyinggg over you
@G T lol get the stick out your ass buddy 😂
With all these celebrities, imagine the hauntings here; hell of a party!
I enjoy watching your videos. They are never sad and always very entertaining. It's like a celebration of their lives instead of a sad memorial. Thank you!
Loretta Wells nne
Thaks for watching
Thank you for including Dominique Dunne. I highly appreciate it.
Ok all of you admit it... You were singing along with the Gilligan theme song.
And disappointed when it wasn’t the “Professor AND MaryAnn!” version😝
lmao! 100%
Wrong
You REALLY need to have this series on television, if it isn't, already. Top of the line production, research and narration!
If it were on television he would incur an unmanageable (thus unsustainable) fees in film clips. And Pierce Brothers would shut it down immediately.
I agree 100%
The Pooh Bear intro gave me childhood flashbacks. ❤️
Minnie Ripperton never receives her flowers !!! Her voice was flawless
I am and will always be Minnie's biggest fan forever, R.I.P. MS MINNIE
I like the respectful, loving tone you take in your videos. They're really the best of their kind.
Rest in peace Bob Crane and Natalie Wood.
Natalie Wood was murdered I don’t care what anyone says
Angela Cooper no she wasn’t
LOVE THIS VIDEO , SO MANY FAV FILM STARS , ESPECIALLY NATALIE WOOD, WHAT A GREAT ARRAY OF MOVIE AND MUSIC STARS 🦋 great work again Mr Dark , thank you so much 🥰🤟
I really enjoy your videos ! Thank you for your hard work and wealth of information. Jim Backus was played
the father of James Dean's character in Rebel Without a Cause.
RIP Frank Zappa ❤️🎸🎤🎺🎷🥁 his fantastic music will forever live on
❤I Love Natalie Wood ❤
My favorite actress 4ever...
She was sooooo beautiful and
a mesmerizing breathtaking actress...
R.I.P. Natalie 😢 ❤ 🌹Your missed.
These videos are a guilty pleasure of mine lol
Nah, they're an innocent pleasure, to be sure.
electrojones hydtaw
The base line in the music for Hogan's Heros has to be the great Carol Kaye playing it. Perfect.
I live in Scotland and just LOVE your videos. They are very professional and so informative. I'm unlikely to get the opportunity to visit these graveyards in person so really appreciate all your hard work. I look forward to your next post :)
Linda Brown, you should plan a trip to LA, Pierce Brothers Westwood is just north of LAX airport and the Westwood area has many amazing places to stay and close to so many other classic Los Angeles landmarks. Besides, though it has been a bit hot lately, you will love the weather. Look forward to seeing you about town.
When you showed Carl Wilson’s marker I nearly jumped from excitement! He’s my favorite beach boy!
One of these days Christopher Walken will talk about how Natalie Wood wound up in the water
Pontiac - Probably on his 'Death Bed'!
Or...not. 😶🤫
No he won't and he possibly doesn't know anything anyway.
That would involve admitting being party to murder.
He''ll admit,finally,that he's part Egg Plant.
Can you please make more? I love them!
I always knew that people who lived in the Valley were highly talented. Like, totally! If good things come to those who wait, then my patience has been rewarded with this tremendous finale for Westwood Memorial Park. May I express my continued appreciation for your diverse and information-rich subject matter. When people refer to your videos in everyday conversations with friends or coworkers (as do I), this reflects the power of your excellent work. Your selection for the epilogue of this finale could not have been more apropos. Hearing the voice of Marilyn Monroe while knowing she is interred here was wonderfully eerie. Thank you for bringing such creative work to the world which, in turn, brings solace and educates us all.
🌷 Natalie Wood RIP 🏵🌸
A wonderful actress, and beautiful woman.I love to watch her in "The Big Race".Gone, way to early.R.I.P
That was not Natalie Wood singing. Her voice was dubbed by Marni Nixon. It would have been wiser to have picked a non singing scene from the movie.
It was actually "The Great Race" and I love that movie also.
Anastasia McFarland Ohhh it was Natalie Wood who died on the water ?? I thought that was Marilyn Monroe .my mistake.
Robert Wagner got away with murder , rip Natalie
Sorry for the delay on this guys. It was ready to go on Sunday, but I ran into an unexpected and annoying snag with UA-cam. Hopefully that won't happen again. Enjoy!
I don't know the details of his funeral, but i'd love to see Johnny Carson's final resting place. If you've covered this in a previous video please let me know.
Hollywood Graveyard yay!! your back!!
Thanks for the info.
So excited to see your new video! I have my cellphone on alert for any videos you post! Thanks as always for capturing these final resting places. Cheers from Sacramento.
Love these! Greetings from Ireland 😉
Loved this. Your knowledge, and respect comes across really well. Plus the clips and memories are perfect. Well done bud. I only came here for info on my hero Frank Zappa's grave, so to find he is 'resting' with so many other great characters makes me smile. x
I can binge watch your videos all day ❣
Frances Torres me too Frances!!! I do... lol
Frances Torres: Great minds think alike. Not a day goes by that I must watch several of these videos. Arthur Dark is a genius. Vaya con Dios.
Frances Torres me too
Natalie Wood was so beautiful.
So so so sad all the movie stars. That made r lives so filled with joy thank u all
Orbison had one 78 when he recorded "Ooby Dooby" on Sun Records in 1956.
I loved Eddie Albert in the LONGEST YARD, as the evil warden. Awesome performance.
Great Tour!!
INCREDIBLE ALL THIS TALENT IN A SMALL AREA !!
Next to Carl Dean Wilson you forgot Paul Gleason. He was the star of The Breakfast Club.
He did it already, see part 4
He also played in the movie Not Another Teen Movie and Money Talks and also he was in music video
9:11 Richard Dawson kissing a contestant in a black dress with birds on it that would become his future wife and great love of his life.
Great video!
After watching these videos, I am humbled and I realize that I haven't really done anything significant with my life. I really need to stop wasting so much time and make better use of my time. It could be anything from helping less fortunate people or educating myself to do something more worthwhile than what I am doing right now. But I need to get my legacy started soon. :-)
Roy Orbison is one of my favorite rock stars ever.
And mine too. My hero.
Thanks and congrats, you bring us a very interesting series and you dont make a glittering, loud show of it. You shows respect to the dead Celebs and you treat the theme right, and you act respectful to the dead and the graveyard.
Eve Arden also co-starred with Kaye Ballard, Herbert Rudley, Roger C. Carmel, Richard Deacon, Deborah Walley & Jerry Fogel in "The Mothers-In-Law," a Desi Arnaz tv production. Desi also guest-appeared in two episodes as "Senor Delgado," a Spanish bullfighter.
my favorite memory of Dominique Dunne was when she gave the middle finger to those mean construction workers in Poltergeist (1982) 😊😂
R.I.P Dominique Dunne 😢😭😔
Yeah
Well tbh do you know of many more? 99% of people only know of her from Poltergeist. I recall her in an episode of Hill Street Blues playing, eerily enough, a girl being abused by her boyfriend.
Luis Feliciano where is she buried
Sad she was so young didn't think he'd hurt her even though they had broke up he chose to end her life rather than end it, had someone from inside came out who knows she might lived..
@@neitajames6029 the worst thing aside from her death was his sentence he served 3 years for involuntary manslaughter for murdering her with his bare hands all because the jury believe she lead him on
Love your videos! Hope you do more of them. You are so respectful of the stars who have passed away.
Beautifully & respectfully done, as always. And thank you again for doing such an eloquent job on your video for Memorial Day. We all look forward to your next video! Take care, & peace.
Great video as always!
Love your videos!!! So we'll put together!!! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next time!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Love watching your videos, they are always so fascinating to watch so please keep up the amazing work.
Next to Bettie Page is Allen Melvin, Who played Sam the Butcher, "The Brady Bunch" and Barney on "All In The Family."
Melvin was also in QUITE A FEW 'Andy Griffith' episodes! GOOD 'Character Actor'!
He was also the voice of Magilla Gorilla. Not only a well-respected and VERY busy character actor, he was also known for his voice work.
He was also starred in the old Bilko series with Phil Silvers. He was a great actor.
pmafterdark yup
He was also in Gomer Pyle USMC.
I love the little bonus at the end of the videos .
Excellent as always. Almost every row one passes by in this tiny cemetery has a famous Hollywood person. I like to walk through these cemeteries, which is why I enjoyed this one and Hollywood Memorial (Forever) as they are more conducive to walking. The Forest Lawn cemeteries are beautiful but do require you to constantly get in your car and drive. Thanks for posting.
Keep up the good work! Your videos are very educational and well narrated!
I just love these videos! I found them a few days ago and can't stop watching them!! Fascinating!!
The movie Natalie Wood was filming at the time of her death is "Brainstorm." It is one of my favorite movies, and I would urge everyone to see it. Christopher Walken is also fabulous in this role, made before the films where his characters are so weird. May I also suggest the latest documentary produced by HLN on Natalie's death titled, "The Dead Wives Club." She married Wagner the first time when she was just 19 years old. When they separated and divorced, he admits sitting outside of Warren Beaty's house with a gun, ready to kill him. Natalie had always had a fear of water. This documentary reveals hidden truths that further point to what really happened. Those afraid to speak out before are afraid no more. But Walken still remains silent.
The amount of work that it takes to put this together must be very challenging. I am very appreciative of that effort. Your presentation is flawless. Thank you so much.😀
Thank you so much. I watched all of them, I think, and you have a fabulous voice! It almost brought the stars to life.
Another fantastic video tour! Seriously one of the best video series on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter. Thank you!
Wayne Rogers "Trapper John" from the early MASH episodes is also here. He is not far from Dean Martin. On his grave it says A Life Well Lived.
My favorite in this episode is Richard Dawson! Awesome actor & comedian!
honestly he looks like a creep to me
@@elmin82 and he would have to kiss all the women on Family Feud. 🤮
i met Frank Zappa when he was in Australia for a series of concerts interesting guy
Rest in peace forever Roy Orbison the BEST
Thanks for your video series, they are wonderfully done, with highlights, highlights of their respective careers, done in the most respective way, great video quality and sound. Thank you for making me visit these graveyards without having to travel.
Absolutely enjoy your tour's, so many people I'd forgotten, a lot more I never knew existed.
man loves your videos keep them coming u need a TV series
anthony Johnson l would watch that religiously....these are done to such a professional standard. They are the only "Hollywood cemetery" vids l watch...because of the little clips put in of that reminds us of these great stars at their height of stardom and their achievements.
Natalie Wood was my favorite ! Great program !
Buried with crane was his wife who deserved at least a 10 sec spot..
Patricia Annette Olson (September 21, 1935 - October 14, 2007), known by her stage name Sigrid Valdis, was an American actress. She was best known for playing "Hilda" in the American television series Hogan's Heroes.
My great-grandparents and grandfather are interred at Westwood, not far from Marilyn and Hef. My grandfather owned a driver/limousine company in Beverly Hills. Fitting that he’s there among quite a few of his clients :)
all videos are awesome thank u
I believe Paul Gleason is right next to Carl Wilson. He was the principal in The Breakfast Club
Paul Gleason was in Die Hard as well!
Angel Simone wit the late Alan rickman
And Clarence Beeks in Trading Places.
Wait the principal died????
Thank you for including Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys singing "God Only Knows". Beautiful vocals. RIP
Love the history behind the graves.did not know that about Marilyn Monroe.great job!!
@9:33 u should have seen my face when u showed Roy Orbison I am only 28 and I am a fan of him my favorite is it's over 🎶🎶🎶
I adore Roy Kelton Orbison....the BEST true legend in my eyes. I have been a fan of his for 31 years since I was 11. I was gutted when he died. My fave songs of his are California Blue, I Drove All Night, In Dreams and You Got It. It's 30 years now since he went to Heaven. :(
I just found your videos Hollywood Graveyard.. it is awesome. I’m currently binge watching them all. I love grave yards and especially ones in and around LA. I live in Ga but was born in Calif and have lots of family there that I visit every couple of years. My cousin that lives just outside of LA and I always go to a different graveyard when is visit. I can’t wait to visit some of the ones you’ve been showing.
I'm a big fan I love seeing where all the Hollywood stars are in their final resting place. you do a really great job with showing the movie stars on film. I've been wanting to go visit there grave sites. Marilyn Monroe and Richard Dawson. Thanks for sharing I will keep watching.
Nice document, and the graves of victor mature, and the actor of the old film espartacus ,frank sinatra , james dean ,etc and the olds actors when the gold era of Hollywood, thanks
8:54. Richard Dawson was once married to Diana Dors, "The English Marilyn Monroe." Richard Dawson was VERY jealous of his co-star Bob Crane, who had the lead role in "Hogan's Heroes." 12:22.
You do an amazing job with your videos! I can't imagine how much time you must put into researching these deceased celebrities, and then editing the videos with pics, music, and film clips. Great Job !!
If you notice, right nest to Bob Crane is his late wife Sigrid Valdis, who was also on Hogan's Heroes, in the role of Hilda...Klink's secretary.
please keep on making these. I love the videos you do!!!!
Dorothy Stratten. 😔😢 rest in peace. Such tragic lost.
Yes she was a beautiful soul was taken too soon may she rest in peace
Me and my mum love watching these vids together
You're back! I learned lots of information in the past videos! Keep up the good work!😉
I've always wondered about Zappa and Orbison being unmarked. They probably wished it to be so, but if they didn't it would be sad that they have no memorial.
Greg S more or less it was a decision made by them Pre-death or by family members.
Greg S The graves maybe "unmarked " because "some people " don't have respect for cemeteries. I know that here in Virginia ,some cemeteries have added security guards due to people doing stupid things. Here in VIrginia ,YOU CAN GO TO JAIL FOR DESECRATING A GRAVE.IT IS A CLASS SIX FELONY.
I know that to be very true, Cynthia... I too am from Virginia and saw (more than a couple of times) on the news where people have gotten a substantial amount of time, fines..etc.. for decimating graves!! It's NOT a smart idea to screw with graves in Virginia (and other parts of the country as well I'm sure). You'll be sure to get more than you bargain for, that's a fact!!
Well if you don't want to be remembered you likely would not chose to be buried at the smallest most celebrity filled cemetery on the planet! Unmarked is simply added cachet.
Chris clay true but how do we know it’s Their grave if it’s unmarked?
I really enjoy your vlogs! Hope to see many many more!
Wonderful please keep doing this it is done so tastefully and very informative comments.
Mr. Dark, I spoke too soon. Thank you for mentioning Ana Lower, Marilyn Monroe’s quasi- mother figure. You did a great job per usual on this video. 💋💖🍸
You didn't mention Allan Melvin who was buried next to Bettie Page. A great character actor. He was Magilla Gorilla for Hanna-Barbera.
muppetsstoogesfan1 He was also Sam The Butcher on the Brady Bunch and Barney Heffner on All In The Family and Archie's Place
Also Sgt.Hacker on Gomer Pyle
muppetsstoogesfan1 and wasn’t he the butcher Alices bf in the Brady bunch?
THANK YOU BECAUSE OF YOU I STARTED TO LISTEN TO FRANK ZAPPA !!!
Also...I MUST first say that I am VERY grateful to you for all the effort you put into these wonderful trips through the past...thank you! Lastly..."Thriller" was overtaken by The Eagles Greatest Hits with RIAA confirmed sales of 38 million compared to 33 million for Jackson. Thank you again!
Roy Orbison's family "just haven't gotten around to it yet"? Wow!
Johnny - You realize he's been gone for awhile now?! WOW!!!!
30 years this year, maybe he did't want it to be marked. Also his wife Barbara Orbison is buried with him I understand.
What kind of crap is that???
Visited Frank Zappa today. Thank you for helping me find him
Thanks for including that at the end about Grace and Ana. I think Marilyn would have been happy knowing they were close by
I wish you had mentioned that Eddie Albert was a war hero in WW2. A legit war hero who saved many lives at Tarawa.
Regarding Natalie Wood and Bob Crane there is no mystery in my opinion. Crane was murdered by John Carpenter and Wood was murdered by her husband Robert Wagner. But that is my opinion.
Natalie Wood’s memorial plaque speaks volumes!
The wording is rather indifferent from a ‘So Called’ loving Husband, like he was glad to see the back of her.
I should have read “ Beloved WIFE, Mother, Daughter, And Friend.
