    One of the most common questions we get, particularly on this video with Zappa and Orbison (but also Steve Allen, George C. Scott, Michael Jackson, etc) is "Why are some graves left unmarked?" It's up to the families to ensure that a grave is marked. Sometimes the individual or the family decide they just don't want it marked for one reason or another. Other times they don't have the money to place a marker, or just haven't gotten around to it yet. Sometimes it takes time. For example: In the case of John Wayne, surely one of Hollywood's biggest stars, it took 20 years. And according to some Jewish tradition, graves aren't permanently marked for up to a year. With regards to Frank Zappa and Roy Orbison, as I understand it, Zappa didn't want his marked, and the family of Orbison says they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

      Hollywood Graveyard that makes sense. I also heard family's don't want to worry about vandalism. I feel Roy should of had one along time ago, I wonder what's taking time so long?

    Thank you for mentioning Bettie Page, even though she isn't considered as an actress but a model, she made a historical impact. Bettie was a woman ahead of her time. I used to be so obsessed with her in high school. I always miss my Bettie bangs 😇

    Mr. Frank Zappa- my all time musical hero. His output in his short life was truly prolific.
    After his passing fellow bandmate, George Duke, said that in retrospect, Zappa written & performed so much quality music, it was almost as though he'd knew he would not live a long life. George Duke is now deceased as well.
    Rest well, Mr. Zappa & Mr. Duke. God speed, brothers !!

    I been to this cemetery because of these videos and let me tell you it’s surreal, it’s surrounded by a busy city and tall buildings but once you get in it is quiet and so surreal. I could spend hours in the cemetery just looking at all the names and all the history. I hope to go back some day

    Last time I was in this cemetery was right after Natalie Wood was buried. There were so many flowers surrounding her grave you couldn't get near it. Back then the park was not so well kept up and the fence was down. I remember there were so many ghost stories about the place...especially by the tree toward the center of that area.

    I always knew that people who lived in the Valley were highly talented. Like, totally! If good things come to those who wait, then my patience has been rewarded with this tremendous finale for Westwood Memorial Park. May I express my continued appreciation for your diverse and information-rich subject matter. When people refer to your videos in everyday conversations with friends or coworkers (as do I), this reflects the power of your excellent work. Your selection for the epilogue of this finale could not have been more apropos. Hearing the voice of Marilyn Monroe while knowing she is interred here was wonderfully eerie. Thank you for bringing such creative work to the world which, in turn, brings solace and educates us all.

    The movie Natalie Wood was filming at the time of her death is "Brainstorm." It is one of my favorite movies, and I would urge everyone to see it. Christopher Walken is also fabulous in this role, made before the films where his characters are so weird. May I also suggest the latest documentary produced by HLN on Natalie's death titled, "The Dead Wives Club." She married Wagner the first time when she was just 19 years old. When they separated and divorced, he admits sitting outside of Warren Beaty's house with a gun, ready to kill him. Natalie had always had a fear of water. This documentary reveals hidden truths that further point to what really happened. Those afraid to speak out before are afraid no more. But Walken still remains silent.

    My great-grandparents and grandfather are interred at Westwood, not far from Marilyn and Hef. My grandfather owned a driver/limousine company in Beverly Hills. Fitting that he’s there among quite a few of his clients :)

      I adore Roy Kelton Orbison....the BEST true legend in my eyes. I have been a fan of his for 31 years since I was 11. I was gutted when he died. My fave songs of his are California Blue, I Drove All Night, In Dreams and You Got It. It's 30 years now since he went to Heaven. :(

    8:54. Richard Dawson was once married to Diana Dors, "The English Marilyn Monroe." Richard Dawson was VERY jealous of his co-star Bob Crane, who had the lead role in "Hogan's Heroes." 12:22.

    I've always wondered about Zappa and Orbison being unmarked. They probably wished it to be so, but if they didn't it would be sad that they have no memorial.

    • @cynthiathomas5443
      @cynthiathomas5443 7 років тому +1

      Greg S The graves maybe "unmarked " because "some people " don't have respect for cemeteries. I know that here in Virginia ,some cemeteries have added security guards due to people doing stupid things. Here in VIrginia ,YOU CAN GO TO JAIL FOR DESECRATING A GRAVE.IT IS A CLASS SIX FELONY.

      @play4u67 7 років тому +2

      I know that to be very true, Cynthia... I too am from Virginia and saw (more than a couple of times) on the news where people have gotten a substantial amount of time, fines..etc.. for decimating graves!! It's NOT a smart idea to screw with graves in Virginia (and other parts of the country as well I'm sure). You'll be sure to get more than you bargain for, that's a fact!!

    • @chrisclay4291
      @chrisclay4291 5 років тому

      Well if you don't want to be remembered you likely would not chose to be buried at the smallest most celebrity filled cemetery on the planet! Unmarked is simply added cachet.

    I wish you had mentioned that Eddie Albert was a war hero in WW2. A legit war hero who saved many lives at Tarawa.
    Regarding Natalie Wood and Bob Crane there is no mystery in my opinion. Crane was murdered by John Carpenter and Wood was murdered by her husband Robert Wagner. But that is my opinion.

    Natalie Wood’s memorial plaque speaks volumes!
    The wording is rather indifferent from a ‘So Called’ loving Husband, like he was glad to see the back of her.
    I should have read “ Beloved WIFE, Mother, Daughter, And Friend.
