@mjstbnsn that's an intriguing thought! It's possible that some of those in Evergreen's indigent graves may have experienced success. In other graveyard tours, Arthur highlighted people who were successful, but were either laid to rest in pauper's graves, or only had 3 or 4 attendees at their funerals.
@@chriswhiteauditions I worked in a funeral home as a kid in high school and I did a funeral one time who was a 90 yr. old priest. I was there, the gravediggers were there and one priest and one nun. I'm late today because you posted on a Tuesday & I had to work LOL. Wow, this was awesome!! A lot of Black entertainers, perfect for Black history month! And I love that you highlighted the memorial to Japanese Americans today since it is Remembrance Day (February 19th). It's truly a dark mark for us in our country's history, one of many. It's important to remember all of the things that happened so we can move on TOGETHER as a society & better ourselves. I love how you remember all of those things in your videos instead of just the bright, happy, shiny parts of Hollywood. Well done, Mr. Dark!
And thank YOU for adding some context to Remembrance Day. I like hearing anecdotes and different personal perspectives on major historical events. It's far too easy to separate oneself from the reason for these days of remembrance, so for me, hearing from people from said country, or people touched by said event, makes it feel more "real" to me........if that makes any sense.
@@mangot589 I’ve watch several different channels…most of them kind of meander and aren’t focused with zero production values…or ones who try to do shock value things suggesting “we may see bones or open caskets”…this channel is more focused and well produced, he makes them entertaining and interject humor while still showing dignity to the people in the graves shown…definitely one of the better produced graveyard exploration channels on UA-cam..

Even if you did go to these cemeteries, you’d probably just walk by the grave and not realize it was actually someone who was prominent at one time…I’ve actually went to a couple of the cemeteries he did videos on and remember walking past a couple of the graves but not thinking anything of them because I had no idea who they where…
Mr. Dark, thank you for including information in the graveyard profiles about how American racism played a role in how people were laid to rest. It would be very easy to not include that information, but it says a lot that you choose to include that truth. It speaks to how much racism has influenced American life, and it gives a greater context and appreciation for each graveyard.

Black History Month observed Hollywood Graveyard style.
Thanks for the history lesson. Love it when you do the lesser known stars or news maker of the day. It brings them to life. Your background on them is just enough to find out more about them.
There was SO much packed into this episode! I used to live in North Hollywood, and know Lankershim Blvd very well, so thanks for schooling me about it's namesake.
Imitation of life is one of my moms favorite movies
Thank you for the hours of research you and your team did for this one. Definitely in my top 5
I absolutely love your videos, I found Jordan the Lion because of you. You both are my favorite. I can't decide just one. Keep up the great work! Your voice is so calming and make the situation better as well.
Grown to love this channel. Poignant narration, beautiful music, great production, excellent tributes. Well done, lad.

I don't know if you've gone, but seeing Forest Lawn, Los Angeles with especially Lee Van Cleef would be fantastic! So many wonderful stars at that cemetery.
Wonderful work as ever dear Arthur. So sad to see how many people died so young.
Thank you for this one. I appreciated your opening when you spoke about the Asian and African Americans. Also An Imitation of Life
Richly diverse. Tremendously researched. Wonderfully photographed. The music never gets old. Glad to hear your deliciously sonorous voice is back to 100 percent. Thank you.
Anther, thank you so much for the videos. I really enjoy the research that you put into them and bring the people back to life.
Thanks again.
next stop Woodlawn Cemetery Bronx NY the Most amazing Mausoleums like the one Barnum and Bailey, and Miles Davies and more. is an awesome place to see Architectures that Money can buy.
As much as I love your videos, I must say that I believe that this might just be my favorite so far! Very fascinating history! Two thumbs up 👍👍
Someone of interest buried at Evergreen: Charles Alexander Mentry, Born on March 27th, 1847 in France, he made his way to Pennsylvania before making his way to the Santa Clarita Valley, establishing Mentryville. California's first oil boom town. Where the first oil strike was on September 26th, 1876. Pico #4 was the first commercially successful and longest running oil strike, being capped off in 1990. Charles Mentry worked for Standard Oil, who later became known as Chevron.

Matthew "Stymie" Beard also has a small role in the 1978 movie, The Buddy Holly Story, and yes, he's wearing the bowler hat.

I started out kinda liking your videos. Then, the more I watched them, I started really liking them. Now, I love them and I drop everything the moment I see a new one is available on UA-cam. One of my two favorite web series for sure!
I can't get enough Hollywood graveyard love the history lesson that comes when watching thanks Arthur..

I sincerely appreciate this particular tour. Cultural diversity is always something from which we all can learn. Thank you ever so much.
Love your grave tours. I'd never heard of this cemetery and it was so interesting to find who was laid to rest here.
Thank You!!!! Showman's Rest made me happy dance! Along with the little informative tidbits.
Never clicked so fast! ❤️ Been waiting!!
Nice to see Frank Braxton's grave! His family appeared at the last Annie Awards a couple weeks ago!
I just love how you present your videos! They're happy and celebratory! Other videos are just plain sad and melancholy.
Earth Angel was a favorite song of my Mom's
this is a cemetery that not too many cover, well done
I can't stop watching Hollywood Graveyard keep up on the awesome shows
The grounds at Evergreen appear in pretty good shape. Old city cemetery often become neglected. Your video will help keep them-groan!- alive. Great works as always.
Another good program-love the background you give us about these persons that have passed before us as well as history of the cemetery.
Great episode! The section for “showmen” was particularly interesting. Thanks so much!
3:51....was this pic used for the opening credits of ‘Cheers’?
I believe Rochester was also one of the original Harlem Globe Trotters. Also a very charitable man, as were many that were involved in the Jack Benny Programs, including the man himself (He must have just rolled over in his grave! I hope his vault is still guarded lol). A great man!
I actually got chills from that last scene. I liked it.
