Thank you for stopping by the cenotaph and remembering Hugh O'Connor. He's often overshadowed by his famous father,Caroll O'Connor also known as "Archie Bunker from "All In The Family".I remember Hugh for his role in the cop show,"In The Heat Of The Night".Hugh sadly committed suicide on March 29,1995 via a gunshot wound to the head.May God continue to grant him eternal rest and peace.Rest In Peace Hugh O'Connor,Gone but certainly not forgotten.

In 2009, while researching a final resting place for a friend, I was shown the underground mausoleum, I understand that it had not long been finished. It is very beautiful, beautifully lit and similar to the crypts where Marilyn and Hugh Hefner rest.

It's crazy that Richard Conte was missed on the first tour, I'm a huge fan of his work. Also, could you PLEASE visit Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City, CA? Frank Sinatra, William Powell, two of the Gabors, Betty Hutton, and many more are buried there. It's near my hometown that I'm visiting again in late April, and I want to make sure I don't miss visiting anyone else awesome. Thanks for all of your incredible work!

Thank you for this awesome post! I am a bit of a Ray Conniff fan ever since stumbling upon his music on UA-cam. He must have known the effect his music has as, aside from the kitsch value, it has the ability to calm me down during particularly stressful days at work. To see his final resting place alongside other luminaries is heartening. Can't wait for your next installment!

Since this Tour covered so many wonderful composers I'd like to compliment you on your music selection. The music really sets the tone for what the tour is about. It's not heavy or macabre, but expresses the mood that we are exploring the lives and accomplishments of these departed performers in a positive way.

Would you be allowed to publish a book of photographs of these grave sites? Many fans would want it. I so wish you could have a TV slot and make $$$ to be able to travel all over. Near my grandparents in Palo Alto (CA) is Tennessee Ernie Ford!! How did Marilyn and Hefner get a different color marble on their graves?? PS. Is Arthur Dark your real name? Best of luck always!!

The most interesting class I took in college was "Death & Dying," a Sociology class. While Death has been around since the beginning of life, dying is a relatively new phenomenon. The class did address the fact that funerals and cemeteries are for the living, not the dead. And yes the question was asked on the first day of class: "have your ever had a student die while attending your class?" Answer? "Not in class, bit yes, during the semester. I did, as I will you give an A posthumously if you die sometime e during this semester.
A class like that does make one think. What to do with my corpse? Nothing is permanent. My science Professor spoke of how in billions of years the Sun will expand and envelope Mercury and burn the Earth to a crispy critter and nothing will remain. In Egypt, the socked away all the I important people in the Valley of the Kings. Hoping mankind would leave them alone for eternity. What happened? Some yardbird stumbles upon the opening of grave sites and start digging up Pharoahs and put them "ON TOUR!!!!" The very last thing the folks in Egypt thousands of years ago wanted.
Which made me start thinking. What is going to happen to all these graves featured in Hollywood Graveyard? No, not in our lifetime. But say 10, 20, 30 generations from 2020? As sick as the world is today, who knows what they will come up with? But since we know what all these entertainers look and sounded like with pictures, records, and video, I can see a new genre category of entertainment for future fans.
Some of your already see where I'm going. They were entertainers, their families long gone (like the Egyptians) to protest, dig em up!!! Take them out of the Mausoleum and open em up to see how time has treated these people? Not just stars, but regular folks too. As long as we have pictures and a back story to tell of who they were when they were here.
Oh I know some of you will be appalled at the mere suggestion, but who knows what the social morals of this place will be in a couple a 300 to 900 years? If we haven't had some major catastrophe that wiped everything out and or all these cemeteries and Mausoleums torn down (because the land was too valuable and needed because of population growth) or bodies used as a fuel supply? George Carlin asked "why are we saving up all the dead bodies just for one spot in town? Let's start digging these people up!!! Recycling these people! Talk about Urban Renewal!!!!!"
I guess my real question is: WHAT REALLY WILL BE THE INEVITABLE FATE OF ALL THE HUGE CEMETERIES AND THEIR BEAUTIFUL MAUSOLEUMS SCATTERED ACROSS OUR COUNTRY?

Omg so sad. I did a Disney movie with Wayne Rogers in 1985. He was such a sweet man to all the kids in the cast. RIP Mr.Mash💜

I can understand why Marilyn Monroe crypt being discolored due to people embracing it over the years but i didn't expect Hugh Hefner's to be just the same since it hasn't been that long since he had passed but i guess he was such an elite figure I can only imagine the multitude of people that come to pay respect

#EnnetteTaylor - Oh my, I was thinking the very same thing. And I agree with what you said here!! It makes a lot of sense too, Hugh had a LOT of followers and no surprise that so many have visited in such a short amount of time since his passing.

Guessing he had the marble tinted to match Marilyn's ...no way his would have the same patina as hers which has *over 50 years* of touches, tears and lipstick marks

In case of Ray Coniff, he made many instrumental pieces and his chorus is a trademark of his music style, specially playing latin themes. Greets from Peru...
