In this video I've made a MH tier list and ranked every single Monster Hunter weapon on how easy or hard it is to master it. Keep in mind this is about optimizing a weapon, and not about how easy it can be to pick up and use each weapon.

There have been a lot of changes to the different weapons in Sunbreak with all the title updates. Which weapon are you using the most nowadays, and which do you think got the biggest buffs?
Bow got a huge buff since it's possible to get berserk on talisman now. Instead of having full chaotic gear it's possible to min max into mixed sets only taking chaotic gear for strife where it's needed. I think a lot of weapons got buffs because of the new melding changes and can be higher overall
i still can get 4K per hit on Great sword. with dereliction and strife with berserk and frostcraft
I didnt play dual blade before TU5, but with heaven-sent its so much fun to use
@@johnisraelado3157 so... how do you live for more than a minute with dereliction and berserk on??? Or do you just use berserk to get half red health easily??
LBG is my staple, but it didn't get buffed that much. (Rather, other weapons are “closing the gap” between themselves and LBG.) The weapon that did get the most buff, though, seems to be DB, because now Berserk and Strife are available in the charm slot, effectively negating the need for the Chaotic/Nephilim set.
As a Dual Blades main who also plays Longsword it baffles me how much mastery you need to have over the Longsword just to have half the dps of a Dual Blades player spamming Spiral Slash.
I must agree but my opinion may not be really important since i am a LS experienced player since World
Tbf I love hammer to bits and through world and rise has been my favourite weapon even through trying every other weapon as well. Hunting horn and dual blades been fun in rise tho cannot deny. Maybe if impact crater did good enough DPS, hammer could be efficient and satisfying.
Some fights with hammer just feel crazy nice, close dodges constantly while hitting big numbers in return. Clean hammer runs are the best fookin feeling in monster hunter.
Hammer bros unite!
@@franciscorodriguez8915 Yessir
Hammer bros🤘🏽💕
14:37 - I went from dealing 90-ish damage per shell to 140-ish per shell on my corn gunlance, both having Ground Splitter buff active. Preeeetty signficant, if you ask me.
Heaven Sent also reloads all your shells and wyrmstakes, which is incredible. Paired with Frenzied Bloodlust and Wind Mantle you can spam Reverse Blast Dash, which makes Gunlance one of the safest and easiest weapons to use. Also for Bullet Barrage shock absorber made the playstyle playable online.
Shock absorber is a life saver for online play for GL, finally 😂.
Which gunlance is the best to go for? I like to not waste effort getting subpar boomsticks
@@fuzzythoughts8020 check out Chaoslayer for guides, but Chaos Gore, Pyre Rakna, Palzeno and Amatsu are safe bets. Cornpopper if you are going for pure wide shelling.
As a fellow Switch axe enjoyer, i say maybe in the final we see something viable but this update allowing dereliction users and special skills users to break away from armor pieces that had them on it was major for all weapons
I like how (for dual blades) Dragon Conversion was mentioned but the footage shown was of Berserk which wasn’t mentioned.
Even without the broken and unintended endemic life synergy with guard bash, I hope the improvements to it's dps has given people who haven't used lance at all the push to try it. I personally got into it in Iceborne when I saw how much control it felt like you could have if you timed your guards well. And I still personally missed the chime that went off every time offensive guard reactivated. Now in Sunbreak it feels like with a bit of time you can nullify just about any attack, and get outright disrespectful with the pokes - unperturbed and unimpressed, just poking away. The only other weapon that's shared that kind of forceful dynamic in equal measure for me is Greatsword because of the shoulder tackle and even the underappreciated kick which also pushes you through the combo strings a bit further when you think your going to be able to punish soon. Your actually interacting with the monster in either scenario, a David using all manner of passion to overcome any Goliath in their path.
Sunbreak Lance is the most fun version of the weapon since Tri
I'd use it if the devs buffed the slap to be objectively superior to leaping thrust. maybe also buff the instablock follow up a bit. basically I'd love to have a trade off between highter damage and safety. spamming leaping thrust is a bit boring, but lance is so close to being much more fun.
Lance in World was already fun. Iceborne just added to it!
@@xHeigoux lance is for poking, slapping is stupid. Glad that playstyle is dead. I abandoned the weapon in base rise because of that awful move.
No one hates Lance, its just gunlance and switch axe get the "i want a shield" bros.
As someone who had been through GU and World, it is funny that physical is stronger with LBGs while elemental is stronger with HBGs. It was a long-lasting common sense with classic MHs and World that HBGs dish out physical damage while LBGs stick with elementals, but in Rise/Sunbreak suddenly HBG uses elemental for burst DPS while LBG uses physical for stable damage output.
25:54 And no, Heaven-Sent cannot replace Strife in terms of stamina management, because Strife is like one-skill-to-rule-them-all, while Heaven-Sent build requires separate skills (e.g., Dragon Conversion) to boost elemental.
idk, way back in freedom unite when it came to HBG elemental was so good and i would choose my ele HBG over ele LBG any day of the week
Rapid fire pierce 2 is what kills the level 200 plus anomaly monsters the fastest out of all the weapons I built for sure. Something about those damage ticks tingles my head
Every MH player knows that tiers are irrelevant
If weapon kills monster s tier
I would assume these are for speedrunning
Its really nice to see that, even the "worst" options are still really good, even if they aren't the meta
Just for reference, any hunting helper you grab and use will respawn. However, each one has their own respawn time. So, it depends on if you prefer to be a speed hunter or a hunter that hunts for fun and comfortability.
Db and bow users: Hmmm... why not both?
@@ph_ahriz hopefully that's rhetorical lol
The respawn tiMe could be around 10mins from when you picked up the endemic life, when i hunting a monster over 10mins usually they respawn also u don't have to use them to make them respawn too, just keep them in your pocket of two marionette after the timer the other marionettes wil respawn so u will get 4
@@ariusxander2684 this is true, but the 10 minute timer from pick up is for the marionette spider and puppet spider, I believe it's 5-10 minutes for other stuff.
Hate being pressured into running straight to the monster immediately, or being judged or grieved for not doing so smh. I'm always super psyched when I see a random pick up endemic life and/or when they run a spiribird/permabuffer route, even if only on their way to the monster, and i actively encourage it.
I'm a hammer main, and I understand your decision, even if the bonk stick is a pleasure to use from my perspective, it didn't got the buffs that it deserves and is not the monster brain damage powerhouse it has the potential to be.
Still a unique experience to give monsters chain concussions though.
Thanks man for the shoutouts in name of Elixir team! Great tierlist, great work!❤
With the addition of Frostcraft GS is even better than before.
Can easily dish out 10k+ on a perfect Strongarm + TCS without relying too much on health drain buffs.
If only I could perfect strongarm
@@AxiomAxololt its has a pretty generous window
@@marquezshine747 It does? I really haven't messed with it, or the barrel stuff. I tried it with LS but I can't get the timing down and mess up every time
@@AxiomAxololt which ls barrel stuff are you doing? Spirit iai barrel, foresight barrel, tempered spirit barrel, or serene barrel?😅😅
@@ph_ahriz serene barrel
Makes a lot of sense that DB gets S rank,it’s incredibly easy to learn (only thing I struggled to get right was the shrouded vault timing) and you can get high dps builds so easy
I just don’t use shrouded vault
@@minaashido518 problem solved! 😁😀👍
Bow absolutely got a massive buff (on top of already being OP) when they released Chaotic Gore. It fixed the only weakness bow really had in stamina management and one-shots. Now you have unlimited stamina (Strife) and can face tank any attack (Berserk). I would give Bow overall its own tier based on what you get for ease of use now.
It has a massive weakness of being boring
@@beannibba hey some people enjoy Bow and some people enjoy 30 minute hunts. You do you.
@@kurob0shi some people enjoy the other 13 weapons and some people enjoy using 1 attack but you do you
@@beannibba he says to the guy that plays everything besides HH lol. I'll keep enjoying whatever gives me the fastest time out of the 14 while you keep enjoying almost timing out though! Have fun!
If you fear timing out you are ass
You are trolling to consider the gust crab guard bash as part of the lance's kit or as a buff...
Thanks for the new Tier List !! Really appreciate it mate
Glad you like it! 😁
I want to give Vortex Insect Glaive a shout-out as the easiest to build weapon for end game viability. Bilbobrix, any lv14+ kinsect glaive, supercharged and some mix of wind mantle + wirebug whisperer and you're golden. Build any other skill for comfort since Awakend Kinsect Attack and Vortex only rely on the Kinsect's stats for damage.
Get 3 essences > Awakened Kinsect Attack > vortex if possible > repeat.
Please tell me more. I'm getting back into MHR and love IG. If you can link or give some more detail on the build you mentioned that would be awesome! IDK what vortex is and other recommend skills, and weapon skills
Hey that's me, the insect glaive! Whats up 😂 at least tag me for the video few thing;
im using valstrax soul, not kinsect supercharge
Im running dragon conversion and dragonheart for raw boost since that was a heroics run.
Bc it was heroics, im not using bloodlust either, i can't afford to regain any health there when im pushing sub 2 :p
ANYWAY thank u for the cool video and inclusion. I'm honored :) if ya ever need any footage or info from the vast amount of testing i do for ig, lemme know!
Hey, do you happen to have the build you’re using for greatsword? I’d love to get some numbers like that LOL
What Spread LBG were you using here? That damage and constant knockdowns were nuts
I love my unga bunga impact cb play. I think its underrated. Those phials break parts fast, if you know how to aim it af the head constantly the monster states dazed.
how is the HBG at the end dealing between 150 and 250 per hit on pierce ?
Monster Hunter Series is just built different since the old times, you can't say its darksoul's like nor DMC like, it's on its own platform, truly amazing.
Dark souls could actually take some notes from MH enemy design. Monsters actually attack and behave the way you might expect based on their size and species, whereas DS bosses can be as large as mountains but have a primary attack that has them spinning around on the floor like a beyblade. Lazy design.
I can take insect glaive at a tier. I just love how free and fast it feels, as long as how bad ass it is.
My bonky Hammer doesn't has to be on S or A tier.. IF at least we all can agree, that the hammer should keep its unique playstyle in the next big mh game.
With that I mean, let us decide which style we play (like- yellow or blue hammer style, yk?) + keep some of the good moves. Its nice to have more than 2-3 different moves yk
I like how different hammer is in rise / sunbreak. Hopefully they do keep it that way in the next game
Lance Mains Rejoice!!
Oh trust I’m waiting to buy it but lace is op now
I’ve never tried lance through out the 3 MH games I’ve played bc it looks so damn boring and at this point I just pretend it doesn’t exist 😂
@@franciscorodriguez8915 If you ever want to try a weapon where you never stop attacking but can also block everything, you should try the big stick.
Lotta hunters out there with little stick energy.
@@franciscorodriguez8915 sad it’s so fun
@@bigdogang nothing wrong with it, but I think it's better with gun, but I respect u👍
What is the layered armor you are wearing when showcasing the bow? Very useful tier list btw!
wanna know the same xD
Came here for this answer lol
It's probably just a dumb mod, really misleading lol
Following for science
Mod, stupid to even have it in the video, but I guess the player REALLY wanted to show how slutty their character looks.
how do you make the attacks gete displayed like that in your game while you attack? like it tells you what each one does
Looking forward to start using Haverst Moon once we get the update for PS5.
man last time i played a MH game was iceborne in 2019 or something, after burning myself w/ over 675 hours. Then i switched to God eater 3 for couple years. But this video made me wanna buy Rise/SB (they also on sales on switch lol)
good video. Subscribed now
the lance gustcrab thing wasnt intentional and i can see it being patched in future updates
It's already patched
Switch axe main and I’ve been loving the hunting horn lately. Lucky for me I made the amatsu horn and I’ve been loving it. Tried a few more but I find it hard to lose the hp regen song.
How could you not bring up Frenzied Bloodlust with S&S? It literally never needs to sheath and being able to spam more Shoryugeki is a massive boon to it's damage.
Is Lance still good if I'm just playing the base game, or only Sunbreak?
"I cant see myself placing gunlance any higher then B tier, But I can also see myself placing it one tier higher in the A tier"
Dude what 😂
I meant to say I can see why others would place it in A tier, that's my bad
What character mod were you using in the bow section?? Asking for a friend..
Nice video! :D
So many skills that I am eager to have them, yet I got extremely unlucky by redownloading the game due to a bug, since I forgot to reactivate the Cloud Saving of Steam after I reinstalled it in January, 100hrs are gone in a snap, many good builds, armors set and weapons I took a long time to get, and getting for MR 120 to 75. Playing mainly S.A and IG, and with me now at MR 80 right now, it is a bit of a pain to rebuild everything and farming the level when it is a bit of a struggle without my previous build.
As a Hunter that just started and can only play the first three games in the PSP, i wish i could move while shooting with the Bow, Light and Heavy Bowgun
honestly i was happy to see light bowgun in S tier bc its my main weapon bc honestly idk how to use the other weapons like with hitting them and the light bowgun just kinda stuck with me
Last week, Capcom put out a patch, it neutered the Lance Gustcrab combo
Digimon world 1 music in background, now I know you are OG out here 💯
I keep trying other weapons but I still just love the charge blade too much. I also do like the switch axe too, but the charge blade just feels like I can do more things.
Gunlance's only real problem is that people suck at using it and don't know where it shines
😂, I haven’t touched the sns till few days ago and gotta say im lovin it.
What's the armor the bow user has in the clip?
Holy that white bar on the sword and shield
what would be a good build for abyssal splitter tu5
what is the UI element in the bottom middle above the wirebugs that shows your moves?
you mean the scroll ui? thats been basekit in sunbreak
I wasn’t very hyped for Amatsu and after seeing the armor being pretty “meh” for hunting horns still feel that way even after making the Autumn Lute I find myself using the Mitzu horn more effectively to use in health draining sets health regeneration is just not enough as a melody for survivability.
I think in Monstercounter sunbreak, you should also implement all the possible counter options for the weapons. Dual blades for example have a really high counter window with little to no commitment during attacking.
And my main the Glaive gets... something. I can NEVER get the timing of that right. And it feels awkward to use too. Can't even remember what it was called.
@@ricardorunos9782 ah the forward A counter attack from neutral. It's pretty crappy I agree. Why does it even have that little windup? Why is there no way of weaving it into a combo? With IG being a fast hitting weapon why wouldn't they let you access a counter, that doesn't even do damage, via a quick button press during combos? I just don't get it.
@@Matt_Zoran Yep. It's a counter-intuitively slow move on a weapon that's supposed to be mobile, leaping around like a FF Dragoon. Or a cracked-up frog or kangaroo.
what armor set is that with the bow gameplay?
Dragon Conversion + Furious + Burst + Elem Exploit for Dual Blades. Plus maxxed out Elem Damage on each weapon too. 150 at least per hit ❤
What's the armor set your using with the bow?
I want to know the same thing lol
Mod
What’s the layered armor when using the bow around 26:11
Where i can get that bow outfit?
I may go back to lance just for that shield bash bug trick
Respect to your opinion, but I think your tier list loses its value when you don't use the C and D tier to be more comparative with the weapons.
Bro how in MH rise walk and not run? im not find this key..
Very thx(( ( keyboard)
New favorite monster hunter youtuber watch one video you know that your gonna have to have this as your favorite mh youtuber
lol Lance in Rise is gonna be like Iceborne's GL, but this time it's actually working as intended and not massively bugged.
One word: gustcrab
*(DEFINITELY going to get patched)*
As a hammer/ gunlance I strongly disagree with this. Hammer gets knockdown, stuns, breaks parts, and can have an fantastic damage out put of you know what your doing.
Plus the monster getting tired. seriously its such an opening by making the monster just stand still and do pathetic attacks for like what? 20-30 seconds?. i find hammer hunts so much less hectic then normal. the damage potential is insane.
I think hammer ranks better in MP hunts for the reasons described but blunt-focused weapons have the issue of having worse HSV's than sever weapons besides the head in most situations, which can result in underwhelming damage output if struggling to hit the head which would basically make it a GS but (a lot) worse lol. Very solid if you are good at the weapon and can snipe the head well, though - just making an observation that a lot of new players like to try out hammer as the "easier" greatsword and don't realize they're using it wrong
Bow doesn't use amatsu. It has infinite stamina via strife
Are we going to talk about the armor set in that bow gameplay?
Think its modded, can't see something like that legitimately in the game.
great, but we must know the armor mods used for the bow and lbg section!
Idk my hammer build does crazy damage. Each big bang us 1800 twice
Nothing is stronger than a master with great sword
Subscribed. Thx for the great work!
Thanks! I'm glad you like it😁
Ok, GS is in S tier. That's all i came here to confirm
Is there a way to attack based on your camera angle, it attacks on characters angle, and i cant fckn stand it
It feels wrong to pretty much only focus on damage for tier list placement, but with pretty much everything either having some sort of counter or a way to easily keep the user safe, I can't really disagree, no matter how much I don't like it.
Damage is premium in general for MH games. Its not to say non-damage skills arent useful but damage has a snowball effect - the more damage you do, the easier it is to cause flinches, the more flinches you have the more windows of attack you have, the more windows the more you get to attack and so forth. It's part of why, for example, GS becomes an oppressively strong weapon in basically every MH game in skilled hands, because it can do very high amounts of damage quickly with proper setup and prediction which causes a snowball effect.
There are annoying metaslaves in the MH communities but there is precedent towards focusing a lot on damage. It's just sort of always been like that in design. DPS shouldn't be the only metric but it's definitely the most important single metric you have for determining general weapon performance.
I am just pointing out that even with the absence of all the op counters and stuff rise added it would be a very damage-driven tier list regardless
I wish they let you cancel out of the HBG Counter Charger(and not getting the buff). Hands down the worst counters in the game alongside the other HBG counter.
Unlike world i finally feel free of GS im looking forward for bow and dual blade so bad. Im using GS to and breezing through content
Speaking as a gunlance main the only other weapons that are surpassing me dps wise are DB, godly bow users, and sometimes lance (gustcrab exploit excluded). 4 wirebugs with a long gunlance is disgusting, sometimes allowing me to chain 3 bullet barrages in a row..
I played Gunlance for a very short amount of time. I’m just not very good at a weapon that isn’t dual blades unfortunately. I gotta say, burst fire with long shelling feels sooooooo satisfying.
I played 100h hours in mhw iceborn with chargeblade.
I recently buy Rise and would like to try something New.
I thing lightbowgun or bow could be fun
"switchaxe gameplay doesn't really require much wirebug usage" he says as he shows footage of a runner spamming wirebug counter lmao
What’s that outfit you wearing at 25:01 👀👀
What armor or layered armor were you using on your female bow char?
What is that dress he's using with the bow? Asking for a friend.
Looks to be modded, can't find specifically which tho
Why the heck would you put any points in defence on SnS? Not odd people can't dish out big damage when they put points in guard and constitution. Not to mention the hellish 'support' sns builds.
The shield is for BONK.
Just downloaded Rise today. Glad to know the Dual Blades look just as fun as they did in World
Even more fun with demon flight
@@morbidsteel3780 Demon Flight was amazing
Rize was really fun. It felt like a super cool boss rush. I miss the scale, feeling, and story of World but Rize will be fun to try and speedrun
how did you get your rise to look so good
Hammer on old monster hunter 2 and 3 is the best weapon but now is not before is the knocking master now the charge blade is better
CB is mainly used with elemental vials, so no stun in Sunbreak
@@Kiferno
I like impact vials
Actually SnS is the true KO King in mh rise x)
DB getting a nerf ?? I can’t see that happening
The only one I disagree with is that the Glaive might just be my play style, but call me CaptainClapDaCheeks when I have that equipped 😂
Dual Blades is super insanely good!
Near the bow section. Does anyone know if that's a mod for those honkers? Plus, I just really like the look. I want to copy the character if possible, thanks.
To add onto your comments of dual blades, assuming someone hasn't pointed this out already, Heaven-Sent is absolutely rediculous for dual blades, as a dual blades main I almost had an orgasm reading that skill lol, kinda makes me wonder what the heck Capcom was thinking when they designed it lol, it's broken
what outfit is that on 25:00
lol - heavensent SA is damn awesome. the sharpness alone makes it one of the best skills for end game - the skill switch on lvl 3 is one of the best ailment heals for being a bonus skill, the stamina helps for a lot of anomaly hunts where the monster doesn't stop attacking.
I did not hear a single word that was spoken during the bow section :)
I need the name of your white armor. It looks so nice lol
7:02 how do you do this ?
Only thing i disagree with is the ig i would've put it at S-tier but other than that your tier list is vaild
Solo wise ya I agree with hammer in B tier.
But teams man, I get so excited when I see one because free dmg, even more so when they are running para or sleep
Seems like hammer is the new HH. Weak af but a pleasure for others. Too bad i only play solo
is it a mod for the (!) on crit damage? what it call?
There's one called "Hard or Soft" on nexus mods that I use myself, it looks to be the same thing?
The rise spinning axe changes are just confusing. They didn't need to change how it worked from iceborne. Not being able to keep the spinning axe just makes it annoying to use, ls got a buff to keep the circle if you sheathe, why isn't CB getting the same treatment? And ready stance is their classic bandaid solution to a problem they created (like clutch claw and claw boost deco). The excessive hitlag, not being able to sheathe or transform back to sns and being forced to roll around in axe mode in a fast pace game is just dumb imo. The shield charge into axe combo is made irrelevant because of how the playstyle works and Counter AED Savaxe Axe from iceborne is also dead. SAED is just so strong, spinning axe is just copium now. The weapon was more fun in iceborne and better designed, the complexity and nuance of savage axe is just dumpstered. now its just brain dead ready stance into axe combo spam.
i'm telling you, someone at capcom hates CB and Gunlance and until sunbreak it was suffering.
Respectfully, i have to disagree with switchaxe's placement. you still want to get out as many elemental burst counters as possible so wind mantle and frenzied bloodlust are incredibly strong. The footage you show has the hunter using the skills lol. power with status also got indirect buffs with buildup boost being able to augmented in now and its synergy with wire step and status trigger.
RiseBreak was made by the team that works on mobile games, and they’re known to hate CB and IG. Both weapons had their identities taken away in this game, especially IG due to Wirebugs making every weapon highly mobile and IG arguably being one of the worst for mounts due to how their Wirebug moves work.
CB feels like the most barebones weapon due to CES SAED spam and CSS being their only viable playstyles and being Switch Skills. Due to both requiring different skills, CB gets punished for switching their scroll mid-fight and has to commit to one style, leading to a half baked weapon.
RiseBreak is garbage, especially compared to WorldBorne. Hopefully this team never gets assigned a Monster Hunter game again.
lol - way too much emotions from someone who still is on iceborne to have much of an actual opinion on rise game play. go look at the dps videos and then come back with this page of tears.
Thanks you mentioned it. Im a CB Main since 4u and I hate this weapon in Rise so much I changed to sns a weapon i used last in mh freedom on psp XD my friends joked i just suck but im glad it's Not imagined how shit CB is in Rise
Agree. Charge blade in world is just so much more satisfying
