Warzone isn’t a BR because loadouts betray the core tenets of a battle royale that separates it from any other shooter: looting, adapting, improvising and resource managing. Blackout maintains these elements. Warzone emphasizes loadouts, so there is no real looting once you have your loadouts, there is no adapting because your loadouts have tuned, tailored weapons, there is no improvising because your loadouts and therefore best strats are preplanned and there is no resource management because your resources are preplanned in the loadouts. Warzone is just a giant game of multi-team “one life” deathmatch. It looks like a battle royale but it fundamentally is not a battle royale. That is why Blackout is still the only CoD BR.

To whoever edits your videos: Really nice touch with the Chapters/Parts with the Black Ops Campaign reference overlaying classified text feel. But add a black screen as the top layer and fade that in, instead of fading each layer out when fading to black. This helps keep the timing consistent because the faded black "classified" marks, fade out revealing the faded text as that layer fades out. Much easier to just have black.png and fade that in over the top so that everything gets blacked out. Then you can fade the next scene in without overlap by fading out the black. Both easier & better looking from my experience. As far as the rest of the editing goes, it's unnoticeable, which in a video like this means you did a great job! Should be smooth and support the narration and do nothing to draw your attention to it, except for cheap tricks! Voyage of despair is one of the best maps ever made for non casual players - I wish the chaos story line didn’t get so much crap because it had such incredible potential
My little hot take is BO4 is one of my favorites of the series. Probably one I spent the most amount of time (and money) into next to Advanced Warfare. It taught me to be a more aggressive player and get better with my aiming. I think it's why I really enjoy Call of Duty:Mobile, since it doesn't just use characters, guns and maps throughout the series, but it pretty much has the same multiplayer modes; Battle Royale actually surprised me when they added the Blackout map from BO4. The multiplayer is solid. Though the Zombies mode is really, really watered down with just one map. It'd be cool to see you take a rip on the Mobile game.
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite. Story wise I love WaW more and Black ops 1. I spent the most time with BO2 as it was my first cod with my own Xbox 360, and I was buying the DLC the day it came out with my allowance money, but I don’t much care for BO2 zombies at all. BO3 I skipped when it came out only picking it up when BO4 was announced, and BO4 I couldn’t play till January due to that dumb Online services freeze issue. There are so many things I like about each cod I couldn’t say which is my favorite overall because some things are worse in others…right now BO1 is probably my fav overall as I enjoy the whole package still..
Black Ops series has always been my most played with friends as I got into multiplayer and zombies heavily with those. I grew up playing them all but always had more fun on Black Ops. But damn MWR had such a perfect multiplayer until they added overpowered ass guns every update.
The out-of-control budget and scope of zombies really came crashing down in this game. Personally, I thought Ancient Evil was a monument to “misunderstanding the appeal of zombies” with its bloated, loud, overproduced scope and scale. It was so wrapped up in being loud and epic that it forgot that’s never what zombies was
Personally I prefer the older maps with the grittiness and dark narratives behind them and simpler gameplay. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the chaos maps. Since it’s separate from aether, it’s easier to look at it as this epic fantasy and steampunk game treyarch would have made had they had their own IP. Plus Ancient Evil being this epic grand scale is actually a positive for me. Again, because it’s not aether and I do love fantasy stuff as well as horror. Not for aether though. I think it was better off as being a darker creepier atmosphere. But that’s just my take on it.
@@davemac9563 I hear you. For me, Zombies should be a creepy, simple "companion Horde mode" to Call of duty rather than this weird, fantasy "original IP" thing with dragons and cutscenes and mythical gods. World at War zombies was thematically appropriate for the time period, same with Bo1. Blundell's maps in bo2 began getting weird and sort of "out of place" in the futuristic setting and bo3 zombies was incoherent, especially with bo4. As much as people disliked Exo Zombies, it had a better understanding of its setting than Blundell's run on zombies. The obsession with "Quests" and "easter eggs" as main gameplay mechanics really killed the mode
This was such a fun cod, first cod i hit a nuke in, cordite with the unlimited ammo clip size in hardcore made kill chains very easy on nuketown, no sbmm take me back. i havent bought a cod in 2 years now
The fact that there’s so many remastered victis map assets in multiplayer and blackout makes it painfully obvious they were preparing for a chronicles 2
If I’m being honest Black Ops 4 is the most fun I’ve ever had with a video game. Something about it was just so addicting and I’m only 6 minutes into the video but it’s kinda sad knowing already just how much content was removed
I honestly love bo4 This was the game I actually fully tapped into multiplayer (I’m a zombies player at core) I loved the technical mechanics in this game more than others for the multiplayer at least… zombies however made some stupid system choices, good maps! But stupid perk system.
Zombies was the biggest letdown from this game they changed the system that wasn’t broken, and tried to get us to care for a new story while finishing up their current one.
bruh i know there’s only a few cod reviews left for u to do, but god damn i get so hyped for each vid. the presentation of the info, the editing, and your insight make these vids such a cut above all the other retrospectives. lov ya chopper keep it up my man
This has been the most odd game looking back in retrospect, my friend is a hardcore multiplayer guy, says this is his favorite multiplayer, I'm a hardcore zombies guy and love bo4 zombies.
Those punch cards in Classified you can pick up convince me there was gonna be an actual main quest Edit: I swear half the reason this video exists was so you could quote “Waste your life over analyzing zombies maps from 2018” lol
Man BO4 saved my zombie experience as a near 40 year old lol. I love BO4. BO3 zombies felt more buttoned up and suited while BO4 allowed me to be myself. Idk how else to explain it but BO4 had vision and longevity in the weirdest way that other Cods didnt have
Good to hear someone more mature with more experience giving his opinion I feel like many havent played that much games before and have nostalgia because they grew up with it, nothing wrong with that of course Cheers
Origins, Mob and Buried ain’t vision? I feel like those maps were able to have the objectives and fun things like the wonder weapons for anyone (or out the box in buried) and had fun things like those ghost in the house or panzer b4 things got convoluted in Bo3 n Bo4 which is why it’s still my favorite. Yeah there’s a lot to do, but I don’t HAVE to do it. If I don’t want to get the staffs on origins I don’t have to, while bo4 and bo3 zombies? The tasks feel overwhelming and overbearing. I don’t feel like I’m loading up to kill zombie, I feel like I just loaded up to complete 7 objectives b4 I get my wonder weapon, and b4 the game even really starts.
Black Ops 4 was so much fun in terms of creativity in multiplayer. I just wish they were given the chance to get the career mode out and all the support they originally intended on sending out
Black ops 4 multiplayer looking back had a great multiplayer. The movement in comparison to what we have now. The weapons just sounded different in the best way. I liked having to think about my health with stims (i know alot of people hated that). It was’nt my favorite game ever but i do miss it a little. The zombies on the other hand… i hope we never see anything like that again.
As someone with with over 7,500 hours in this game, it was easily my favorite call of duty multiplayer experience, and also why i refused to buy any call of duty after. I enjoy the community (even though its one of the most toxic ones ive ever found, but still met great friends and had fun), i enjoyed the movement, high tkk, maps, weapons, camos, healing, and even specialist. Id still be playing if i hadnt moved to PC Also, the community and game is still very much alive. I primarily played Search, but i had no troubles finding matches in any modes thru the whole time i played (up until about two months ago) Itll be rough for new players, but on PS i highly recommend it
Sad how this game was the last time we had Woods and Mason’s original voice actors for the cutscenes and as operators (although Mason sounds like he isn’t even trying but damn better than he does in Cold War)
If only Activision trusted their devs and studios more... I think the most tragic part of all is the fact that treyarch lost its best employees, like blundell...
I absolutely love what zombies contact we did get down to even the small things were tells you how many times you beat the Easter egg in your highest round in the speed at which you did it
22:30 so damn true - when Black Ops rolled out the emblem editor......it made watching the killcam a treat because there are some amazing artists and people who poured serious talent and often humor / satire....that weapon lying next to your crumpled corpse, was y o u r s with no doubt. But whatever, it probably sparked a neglectful parent's twitter outrage, so best to shut down that avenue of giving this boilerplate process any sense of style or personalization 🙄
Bo4 was a staple for me because in 2018 I was going thru a severe depressed state in my life. It kept me occupied and kept me coming back despite how frustrating it was. However charging $100 for the complete version was criminal. A bitter-sweet (mostly bitter) game that brings fond memories
If bo4 was cross platform it would still be alive. I think the multiplayer nailed the arcade cod feel with the higher health and rushing focus gameplay (no camping in corners, they high health means better player can easily turn on you) but its literally impossible to play on pc now sadly..
Easy answer they were pulled from BO4 to make Cold War because Sledgehammer Games was skipped so they had whatever time they had left on BO4 development and one year to make an entire ass new game
Wasted potential is the perfect way to sum up bo4. Personally my favorite zombies mode all time in the state it was given. All 8 maps are great but there is a better version of this game we will never know
Me and my older brother called it crash op 4 and zombies was such a big downgrade in quality. We fell of Cods for a while . I dream for a WAW remastered. That campaign.
Was amazing. MP was fun. People didn't like the manual healing or skill required. There was some cheese involved. One of those things was just sitting on nuketown as torque with a scorestreak was crazy. Just hide behind your shield and get all of that extra score from hiding behind the shield. EZ points
As a longtime zombies enjoyer and a lover of BO3, it hurts to know how much potential this game had. I'll never get over the idea that we might have had a Great War map with 8 players and Monty as the final boss.
There was never gonna be a Great War map. The story of Blood and Tag pretty much explain that it has no story significance and therefore would not matter, as the outcome of the war is always the same and the only purpose the war would serve is spectacle.
i remember the day this game came out i turned on syndicates stream during lunch at school and he was playing voyage. it was one of the most exciting times to be a zombies fan; a five remake, mob remake, a small map that we thought could’ve been melee only, and the fucking titanic all in one game? the month after was so painful as the excitement was wearing off and all i could think about was what could’ve been
I'm gonna disagree about the 'not stuck' portion. There were absolutely some BO4 maps there were fantastic. My personal favourite being Gridlock. Honestly might be my favourite map of all time in a cod.
I liked BO4 for a while. I think it was a little weird because it was a lazy evolution of BO3, but didn’t make much sense with the movement suddenly being changed to no jetpacks. Like, we went way in one direction with the jetpacks (which was done best in BO3), and then suddenly we’re in basically the same timeline/era but different movement. It was just strange.
I started really getting into COD with Ghosts and Advanced Warfare. I wasn't really a fan of Black Ops 3 because, like many, I was over the advanced movement. I will say though that I am super excited to play Black Ops 4 once it comes to Game Pass. I'm hoping that access brings a lot of the older games back to life.
i was so excited to play black ops 4 when it first got announced. my and my friends made plans to play the campaign together until we found out it didnt have one and we ended up never playing the game at all
im not sure what activion's obsession with fucking over treyarch constantly is in the last few years but it seems like treyarch needs their own version of respawn
Was there even potential with this game? BO3 was the decline of the Black Ops sub series. They had Campaign go away from the timeline and used BO4 (without a campaign) kind of back fill or string together that flawed storyline.
Probably one of the main reasons they chose to remove custom emblems is because almost 80-85% of all the player made emblems were just swastikas, women, and just a bunch of other potentially "offensive" or "objectionable" images/content. They kinda could patrol these things, but it would be a lot of work and effort, and its just easier to remove the ability entirely instead, and in that line of thinking, I can't say that I disagree with them, if the players can't be responsible with the emblems, they shouldn't have them, ya know?
The reasons you said you hated Dead of the Night is actually why I love it. I love solving puzzles when they are well designed. Not to say they are perfect, but I enjoyed them
@@null-cu8tb i disagree. Yeah there’s some bad steps here or there but for the most part, there’s some really fun puzzles and action heavy steps on DOTN. Most BO4 EE’s are good
My 4th time watching and I realized Ch0pper never answered the question as to why bo4 zombies had it's budget and resources slashed? Was it to allocate to black out or because of the sudden emergence of cold war ? He never answered why the zombies team had its budget and resources slashed
I'm 100% sure that if 3Arch had more time to develop the game team based mechanic could've worked really well. All they needed to do was to balance system a bit differently between modes like TDM and hardpoint
You may have seen my other BO4 retrospective, but I felt inspired to make another one since there’s so much new stuff, plus I’ve really grown as an editor since my last one. Consider this video the one that does BO4 a justice for me

Thts wild I never thought abt that but I play cod mobile nowadays and thts the only cod tht feels good rn
I personally love Dead of the Night ❤️
Same. Favorite map
Yep, right next to Zetsubo no shima for me (I love collectathons) right after Mob of the dead and Origins
This was such a fun cod, first cod i hit a nuke in, cordite with the unlimited ammo clip size in hardcore made kill chains very easy on nuketown, no sbmm take me back. i havent bought a cod in 2 years now
Bro jus dropped this at the perfect time been rewatchin old zombies content and this came at the right time thx bro
Black ops and bo2 really had the greatest campaigns known to man and then they took the title and just went “uhhh no campaign”
Black Ops 3's campaign was also so convoluted.
if they took the morse code step out of blood of the dead the game would go up a letter grade
21:20 dude that was sick. Was I the only one who noticed that triple collateral ?
The fact that there’s so many remastered victis map assets in multiplayer and blackout makes it painfully obvious they were preparing for a chronicles 2
If I’m being honest Black Ops 4 is the most fun I’ve ever had with a video game. Something about it was just so addicting and I’m only 6 minutes into the video but it’s kinda sad knowing already just how much content was removed
I honestly love bo4
This was the game I actually fully tapped into multiplayer (I’m a zombies player at core) I loved the technical mechanics in this game more than others for the multiplayer at least… zombies however made some stupid system choices, good maps! But stupid perk system.
Zombies was the biggest letdown from this game they changed the system that wasn’t broken, and tried to get us to care for a new story while finishing up their current one.
:/
bruh i know there’s only a few cod reviews left for u to do, but god damn i get so hyped for each vid. the presentation of the info, the editing, and your insight make these vids such a cut above all the other retrospectives. lov ya chopper keep it up my man
This has been the most odd game looking back in retrospect, my friend is a hardcore multiplayer guy, says this is his favorite multiplayer, I'm a hardcore zombies guy and love bo4 zombies.
Those punch cards in Classified you can pick up convince me there was gonna be an actual main quest
Edit: I swear half the reason this video exists was so you could quote “Waste your life over analyzing zombies maps from 2018” lol
Man BO4 saved my zombie experience as a near 40 year old lol. I love BO4. BO3 zombies felt more buttoned up and suited while BO4 allowed me to be myself. Idk how else to explain it but BO4 had vision and longevity in the weirdest way that other Cods didnt have
Good to hear someone more mature with more experience giving his opinion
I feel like many havent played that much games before and have nostalgia because they grew up with it, nothing wrong with that of course
Cheers
I used to hate Black ops 4, but now I do appreciate it. I'm BO4 defender and maybe even lover.
I remember wanting to buy BO4, but turned down on this idea when I saw there was no campaign :P
Forgot to mention, to this day i am still upset that i never got the vmp from supply drops
I loved BO4 so much. The last cod I had some real fun in.
Id still be playing if i hadnt moved to PC
Also, the community and game is still very much alive. I primarily played Search, but i had no troubles finding matches in any modes thru the whole time i played (up until about two months ago)
Itll be rough for new players, but on PS i highly recommend it
Sad how this game was the last time we had Woods and Mason’s original voice actors for the cutscenes and as operators (although Mason sounds like he isn’t even trying but damn better than he does in Cold War)
If only Activision trusted their devs and studios more... I think the most tragic part of all is the fact that treyarch lost its best employees, like blundell...
Great video chop!
I absolutely love what zombies contact we did get down to even the small things were tells you how many times you beat the Easter egg in your highest round in the speed at which you did it
So black ops 4 campaign was supposed to be like galactic conquest from the OG battlefront 2. That would have been awesome
Naw they have complete control of the project. None of us told them to tell us these things.
Those transitions between parts were really cool, great job
Easy answer they were pulled from BO4 to make Cold War because Sledgehammer Games was skipped so they had whatever time they had left on BO4 development and one year to make an entire ass new game
Wasted potential is the perfect way to sum up bo4. Personally my favorite zombies mode all time in the state it was given. All 8 maps are great but there is a better version of this game we will never know
Me and my older brother called it crash op 4 and zombies was such a big downgrade in quality. We fell of Cods for a while . I dream for a WAW remastered. That campaign.
FINALLY A NEW CHOPPER VIDEO
Was amazing. MP was fun. People didn't like the manual healing or skill required. There was some cheese involved. One of those things was just sitting on nuketown as torque with a scorestreak was crazy. Just hide behind your shield and get all of that extra score from hiding behind the shield. EZ points
Excellent video ❤😊
Black opts 4 I didn’t even play because there was no campaign.
As a longtime zombies enjoyer and a lover of BO3, it hurts to know how much potential this game had. I'll never get over the idea that we might have had a Great War map with 8 players and Monty as the final boss.
That was never going to happen, treyarch has said that that was likely never going to happen
There never was a great war map. That was a fake rumor started by the community
We were supposed to get a chaos map set in the library of Alexandria though, that would have been cool
There was never gonna be a Great War map. The story of Blood and Tag pretty much explain that it has no story significance and therefore would not matter, as the outcome of the war is always the same and the only purpose the war would serve is spectacle.
i remember the day this game came out i turned on syndicates stream during lunch at school and he was playing voyage. it was one of the most exciting times to be a zombies fan; a five remake, mob remake, a small map that we thought could’ve been melee only, and the fucking titanic all in one game? the month after was so painful as the excitement was wearing off and all i could think about was what could’ve been
Even if this is bad, it had the best gunplay in any cod, I like how the guns feel and sound in this game,
I prefer how the BO2 guns sound more then this game in my opinion.
Cold War gunplay is literally BO4's but better
@@null-hi6dt nah cw feels like a blend of bo4 and mw2019, objectively cw is a better game, but it's gunplay certainly feels inferior than bo4,
I'm gonna disagree about the 'not stuck' portion.
My Main Problem With Black Ops 4 Was There Was No Traditional Campaign...😠 How Can You Have a Black Ops Game Without a Campaign ? 🤨
You’re right the cut scenes were actually really impressive at the time. I was hoping to see more of them. It was super depressing.
If they never changed the perk system I guarantee this game would never had bombed
This games problem and cods problems in general is changing things that don’t need to be changed
I genuinely always forget this game even happened. My memory just goes from Black ops 3 to tv static then Cold War
i was so excited to play black ops 4 when it first got announced. my and my friends made plans to play the campaign together until we found out it didnt have one and we ended up never playing the game at all
im not sure what activion's obsession with fucking over treyarch constantly is in the last few years but it seems like treyarch needs their own version of respawn
Its sad how much was cut from zombies
BO4 had major issues but I’d play it any day over Cold War with their warzonification and multiplayer look.
Blackout alone made this game one of my most fondly remembered call of duty to date
I loved being able to get a death effect and equip it to ANY weapon
Still love to play HC on this game, one of the most fast paced newest multiplayers that we had gotten, comparing to MW19 and CW even.
I was fully on board and pretty hyped when I heard about the whole faction stuff coming too the game , was pretty bummed when it didn’t come
I played bo1 and bo2 as a kid but never multiplayer. Bo4 was the first ever multiplayer i ever played and it will always be my favorite cod ever
I loved the MP and aesthetic. It was so bright and still has the series best cosmetics imho.
This was the last game I ever pre ordered. Ever since then I waited till there was reviews of games before I buy/play them
Only real 1s were in Mozu gang during the blackout beta.
I'm 100% sure that if 3Arch had more time to develop the game team based mechanic could've worked really well. All they needed to do was to balance system a bit differently between modes like TDM and hardpoint
