If the Chinese fuel pump packs up & leaves you at the side of the road then you'll have a real complaint. BMW's aren't a shadow of the ones in the seventies, same goes for their cars.
Its a dealer issue. K1600 comes with their windscreen off and mirrors folded forward in crate, the glove box has a foam padding and screws would be noticed straight away. Both these issues would be noticed on assembly, if they were not there already to be installed. Muppet count in Franchised dealers is pretty high, and gotten worse in last 5 years, and keep in mind these people are fitters not mechanics, i know they have fancy woke names for them nowadays, and more than likely it was an apprentice that did this work, and whoever did it, does not care, and the reason they dont care is nothing will happen to them, remember companies cant pay people to stand still nowadays, never mind finding someone with basic skills they would notice this. As somebody i met recently after many years, i asked him how businesses, he said its terrible, i have more work than i can handle, but its got so bad you cant even get useless people to work for you anymore, never mind good people😅
Totally agree with what you’ve said, more and more people are getting bikes on pcp and expect them to be supplied within days. Dealers earn money from servicing and not from sales these days. With limited staff, more mistakes can happen. With pcp people think they can just give back things they don’t like anymore! Not So.
It’s not about not liking it anymore. The bike is fucking immense. Equally the dealership has been great, but, no one regardless of budget should just have accept issues big or small
@johnold9506 They make good money from sales, 90% of bike maintenance in Franchised dealers is fluids, set prices that average £350 pounds, no money in that type of work just operatating profit, what's paying for the 10 plus staff, all that glass and stone tiles and lease a 24k bike they need circa 4.5 to 6k profit, the higher end, just to cover 30k plus a month operating overheads. They tell their staff a different story..if these dealers were relying on service work they would be dropping like flies.Maybe someone will post a K1600 invoice, I doubt it.
@@RRGS78 I agree! But if the dealership is happy to help, what’s the problem? Try a new build house, always have issues! It’s pcp I have a problem with, if you can’t afford things save and you will appreciate them then.

I can fully understand your position here. It's a very expensive bike that can go very, very fast. Not only can you expect quality for the amount of money you pay for the bike, you also should feel confident riding a beast like the K1600. Unfortunately, BMW has taken enshittification to the next level. Look at all the issues the new 1300GS has. And that is not only about the quality of the parts used, but also about the way the parts are bolted together in the factory. There was an early series of 1300GS's that had to have the engine replaced because the bolts were not tightened well. I have also heard from a dealer that the new ASA system of one of their demo bikes broke down because it internally came apart due to insufficient tightening of bolts. So it seems to me BMW has problems with production lines and quality control. For a brand that considers itself premium, that is quite a dissapointing thing. Mark my words: unless BMW changes their game and start producing premium bikes again, Chinese manufacturers will outsell BMW in just a couple of years.
2022 K63 and I can tell you, the mirror falling out is a sign to get rid of those mirrors. Mine were replaced with 70$ bar ends and they are 10x better than the stock. The stock bug eyes vibrates so much, they are pretty much unusable. I think they source them from a Ebay seller haha.....
Ross, why did you get rid of the 1300 GS? I love it too bits, apart from the cost of the insurance & the seat.. Painful! I had a f900 gs out while I had mine serviced Didn't like it one bit! It didn't help, it was fitted with the high seat! & it felt heavier that my GS I had a test ride on a k1600 loved the bike apart from the weight and the sheer size! So if your dealer doesn't want to play ball your bmw warranty isn't worth the paper it's printed on! 👍
I went from a 1250gs to a 1300gs and whilst the specification of the 1300 is amazing I hated the gearbox and the sound of that 1300 engine. I think the chassis is too stiff as well. I think I did a video on the why.
I have a 2023 K1600 719. My only problem is when I start running at 85 and above the bike starts to wiggle. I put on new dunlop tires and that hasn't help. I live in the US. You are right about the power.

German quality is not what it once was - earlier bikes were virtually bombproof - this obsession with tech has loaded so many potential points of failure onto what should be a simple machine, that reliability even straight out of the factory is questionable. More tech equals a higher selling price and higher profit , the actual basic engineering and assembly of the bike is not what it should be for a premium product.

Morning Ross, I think you will have trouble rejecting the bike !! firstly, how long have you had it? if it's more that 30 days they will NOT take it back and do not have to. They must, however repair it and ensure it's fit for purpose!! within 30 days it can be rejected if it is not "fit for purpose", however the issues you raised are some would consider, while annoying, are very minor!! and do NOT make the bike "not fit for purpose" . Iv'e had BMW's for 30 years and other bikes and had issues with a few of all makes , all but 1 were resolved . I had one of the first K1600GTLE's in 2010 which blew a gearbox and water pump within 3000 miles and after much to do the bike was replaced and came as an 11 plate thats how long it took to deal with. My suggestion would be to put these minor issues aside and enjoy the bike, thats what I did, the new K1600 I have was flawless and I loved it.. Best for the new year!
