The chinese part is likely to be exactly the same as the official Jeep. In the end of the day, most of this stuff is produced there.

Many OEM parts are made in China. It’s very likely that for every 1000 OEM parts they make there are another 1000 non OEM made on the same assembly line. The Chinese do not recognize the concept of intellectual property. Quite often they make exact copies of something and even improve on the original. For an example of this check out the history of Royal Alloy scooters. Originally some Brits contracted the Chinese to build scooters but when the Brits violated the contract the Chinese improved the design, gave it a new name and sold the new ones in competition with the old.

A tip here Freddie, if you should break a plastic part and super glue won't fix it then try welding the plastic parts together with a soldering iron, you can even use plastic zip ties as a filler.

The Harley / Triumph combo in the garage is the way to go. Admittedly I'm extremely biased lol, I've got a HD Lowrider ST and a Triumph Scrambler 900 as my two bikes sitting in the garage. Love them both in different ways, and absolutely love that I can hop on either one depending on the type of ride I feel like having

Nice one Fred. I bought the new GS1300 in March this year specifically to take touring into France and Spain. It’s an absolute beast of a machine, beautifully balanced, an incredible piece of engineering. Funnily enough I’ll be selling my XE in the spring. It’s been a fabulous bike and I have toured all over the UK on it using SWMotechs dry bags. A very capable all rounder. A few negatives….hard work on motorways above 70 being a naked and the bench seat gets uncomfortable after an hour.
The 1200xe is arguably the best looking motorcycle out there. Good choice Danny.

If you are a solitary off road rider , remember sooner or later you will drop it , need to be able to lift your bike off the dirt unaided in possible slippery hilly conditions .
I own a Honda Transalp 750 …208kg wet …can’t lift it up at 59 years of age ..so I stick to dirt roads and bitumen …not deserted trails .

At the beginning, when Danny said it was a "modern classic , adventure" genre, i was guessing Guzzi V85TT , perhaps the new one with VVT . For some reason the Trumpy Scrambler never entered my thought! I hope the new bike brings him much joy, and more adventures for you both. 👍

Great choice of bike Danny! I have a 2019 Srambler 1200 XE (owned since new) with 23000 miles done. It is without doubt my favourite bike. Brings a smile to my face everytime I ride it - the riding position is great, it's tall (I'm 6ft 2), and the handling is fanatstic on and off-road. The heat from the exhaust on my bike, is a bit of an issue in summer, but I can live with it. I put a Zard exhaust on mine and it sounds fanatastic. I will never ever sell or p\ex this bike. It's going to be with me for life and then if it's still rideable passed on to my son.

  •  Місяць тому

This is amazing. The fact you are able to ride like this in late december is mind boggling for me, living in Stockholm. We have a lot of snow and -10 degrees today. I really would like a ride now... But I guess it won't be possible until march at the earliest...

Happy New Year to you Freddie & Monika!
It seems a flawed design having the plate illumination lights protruding from the rear tailgate, right at about knee level.
I suspect you should order another assembly because the way you sat down in the tail gate, the back of your right leg was right behind it.
Usually, in other vehicles, it is recessed in the rear bumper out of the way of somebody or you touch parking.

Those 1200XEs are amazing bikes, really fun to ride and the combination of that engine and gearbox is a masterstroke. We had one in Spain in December for a few days, it was a brand new 2024 model and the head shields unfortunately do get properly hot, especially the pillion one. The mrs could not have her leg anywhere near it. The bench seat is also great for the rider, but a bit too narrow for the pillion. But those are the only things I could find that were bad in an otherwise fantastic bike.

Hi Freddie, Great video, loved the bike Danny purchased it was the exact one i was looking for last year,
I couldn’t find one and gave up. Bought a Tiger 900 instead, primarily for function. It would be interesting to know how he gets on with fitting a rack and top box. Hi Freddie. Firstly Happy New Year to you and Monica. I own a BMW R1250GSA. When I bought it, the bike was already set up for fitting a BMW navigator 6. However I wanted to use my mobile so I asked the dealership to price up the adapter to allow me to use my mobile. The reply was £200!!! I managed to find an alternative holder on ebay for £20 and it works perfectly. I'm sorry to say that my example is one of many that others have experienced and saved a shedload of cash. These main dealers are stuck between a rock and a hard place by the manufacturers. So ok it doesn't say BMW on the part but it works. Keep the vids coming.

I have sourced and been posted a lot of spares from abroad, working, clean and reasonable costs. Must be a few jeeps in Europe and as for the 500. I reckon the latter is unloved

  • @Peter-DOC-Docter
    @Peter-DOC-Docter Місяць тому

I get stuff from China all the time and depending on the price, you get the quality i would say, cheap often is also cheap make, not bad and depending on how much you use it most of the time well worth it. Better or equal quality to original products are mostly half the price of the original. So i'd say it it work fine, and even if it weathers badly in a couple of years, you could just order a new one, or redo it and do the bumpers to with some bumperblack.

Great bike. I guessed what it was when you said retro adventure bike. I'm glad Danny didn't buy a BMW.

I have had many issues with buying car and bike parts and even a replacement seat for my Speedmaster, especially since brexit. I engage the services of a friend to buy in the US and then ship it to me. If you buy from European distributors now you get slapped with all sorts of duties. I believe If under £100 or second hand (you need to check this) things are duty free from the US. Even so if you had not aced it from ebay its a cheaper way to get genuine kit even with duty added.

An old Irishman I knew years ago used to say, you haven't made a saving if you weren't going to buy it (the expensive one) in the first place!

Invest in a "leg saver" for the exhaust heat. You'll thank me later.

Hay mate , another great 👍 episode. Hope yourself and Monica had a wonderful Christmas and new year. Danny’s bike is COOL 😎. I’m looking at a smaller - mid to small weight off road ADV / retro bike , was very keen on the new Royal Enfield 450 until local dealer abused me “ just for asking his best price “ I’m also know considering the CF Moto MT450 , test ride today , price is fantastic BUT I just cannot bring myself to buy a Chinese bike and I reckon it will not as Danny said give me that looking over shoulder as getting home effect. So know I’m looking at the Ducati Scrambler Desert Shed , a British rider has the world 🌎 record for youngest person to ride around the world, and he done it on a Desert Shed with few problems.
