    Hokkien mee is a Southeast Asian dish, popular in Indonesian, Malaysian, Singaporean and Thai cuisines, that has its origins in the cuisine of China's Fujian (Hokkien) province.There are three distinct types of Hokkien mee. The Singaporean variant consists of egg noodles and rice noodles stir-fried with egg, slices of pork, prawns and squid, and served and garnished with vegetables, small pieces of lard, sambal sauce and lime (for adding the lime juice to the dish).

    Couple of things:
    Sesame oil is for seasoning, not good for cooking in it.
    Bean sprouts are meant to be added in the end uncooked to have that crunch factor not for being soggy

    • @pankajkumarsharma1320
      @pankajkumarsharma1320 7 років тому +5

      I reckon that Stephan. If you are using sesame oil for cooking then it will be too overpowering as you mentioned sesame oil is just for enhancing the overall taste. Also the sprouts will be soggy and won't add any crunch if you cook it that long. The amount of soy sauce she put will make the noodles bitter.

    You are not meant to use sesame oil for cooking. Smoke point is TOO low, will start burning and changing into a carcinogen within minutes. Use for flavouring only. Also, why drown everything in this strong tasting oil? Sesame oil and soy sauce are being abused to the max! A little at the end goes a long way. Where is your basic understanding of ingredients and how to use them??
