You could be an excellent driver, have 10 years experience, have zero accidents and zero tickets, know how to drive a real truck (manual), have a stable work history and none of it matters because Walmart does not believe in second chances. Anyone with a felony need not apply. Some of THE most dependable and trustworthy drivers I have worked with have a criminal past.
Need to see it from the company's side. It's expensive, and ridden with liability "giving second chances". They would rather deal with people who have a track record of good decisions.
@ “Track record” huh? Making one stupid decision as a teen or young adult constitutes a track record??? I feel sorry for your kids. This country was founded on Biblical principles which involved second chances. People like you have decided to define a person for life over one bad decision. I stand by what I said….people with a record have some of the highest work ethics. I’m not saying to give them free rein, especially if they are driving a truck. It’s called “trust but verify.” Give them a job but keep a close eye on them. Work with them to determine the root cause of the poor decision they made. Help them and be a mentor to them. We need to stop throwing people away in this country and stop treating them like lepers.
The ONLY thing that's preventing me from applying is the experience qualification. No matter how I try to dice it up, they clearly state 30 months are required. I JUST got my CDL on 11/8/24. Fedex trained me. They require us to get the hazmat endorsement within 30 days, but I added it THE DAY I upgraded from a CLP to the CDL. I also have the doubles and triples & tanker endorsements. I took the test in a manual, so I don't have an automatic restriction on my license. The problem is, this job is already showing to be stressful. It hasn't even been a month and I'm looking for an exit. If only people knew what we have to deal with. There are things that are happening that put my license at risk. I'm not gonna throw them under the bus by going into detail but.... Guess I have to suck it up and appreciate the fact that I have a job.
@@Heard_0f_God 30 months will fly by quicker than you think. Driving a truck is very stressful if you've never done it before but it gets easier within the first year. I guarantee Walmart will still be hiring once you get to that point. Hang in there!
I've been there. Got let go for phone policy violation. While I was driving behind one the stores to shut it down for the evening, the speed bump I went over set off the camera. I admitted to sending a text to my then girlfriend, now my wife, while the truck was in motion behind the store. Safety manager had to look for the reflection off of the windshield to realize I had my phone in my hand. Walmart gave no breaks when it came to that phone policy.
No doubt they are ruthless when it comes to a text while the truck is in motion or on the drive line. That's why I don't ever text while at work. We've had lots of people get fired over that same thing.

That's because either there was more than one position available or there was a limited amount of applicants and many of them may not be as qualified as you are. It could be a multitude of reasons but when there's only one position and there's a ton of people applying you definitely want a referral. I'm not sure what you're asking on the first part but as far as uniforms go I think there's like five or six different versions. I know there's a dark blue then a light blue also one with pinstripes and there's a white version those are some of the ones I could think of. You can also wear shorts and several different kinds of jeans they offer. Although it might depend on what DC you're part of as far as if they offer all those options or more.
@kickback9221 pretty much all the loads we have to deliver will give you anywheres from a couple of hours to 12 hours on average extra on what you need. We are on a system to where you don't need to wait until delivery time to deliver a load. For example a lot of times they will give you a store load in the afternoon and it doesn't need to be delivered until 2:00 in the afternoon the next day And it's totally okay to deliver it the night before.
What’s your daily average of all miles and activities? Because maintaining a $525 adp is very difficult. on the east coast man it’s not heard of so you being a 5 on 5 off driver making more than a 5 day like me is upsetting bro. I bust my ass over here bro. You a nice guy and I watch your channel and stuff but the numbers don’t make sense to me , guys that always extend maybe see 500 but they don’t have a life.
I totally understand and if I was in the East Coast position I would be mad about it. I don't maintain a $525 ADP It just gets up to that point at the end of the busy season if I work extra enough. Going through winter and into summer it will drop as low as $440. I've made multiple videos where I've gone through step by step my entire day as I'm doing it on what activity I'm getting and the miles I'm getting and then saying how much I make at the end of the day. An ADP is averaged out by whatever number they divided by. Most drivers like five on two off are getting divided by 10 in a 2-week period. Me as a five on five off driver it's only being divided by 7 so you can see if you work extra it really ups the ADP. I don't waste my time working extra in the hard winter months and I try to take off all the time I can during January usually the whole month if I can get away with it these are all just a few steps on adding up lots of little things to add up to a higher ADP and making more money at the end of the year as a total. There's also the fact that I can fill out my days that are short on my ADP with my PTO because I already have massive amounts of time off being a five on five off. It's really all about being very strategic on what you do and what you don't do.
Don't rely on that 3 yr MVR check if you had any issue beyond 3 yrs. I had a preventable in commercial vehicle 5 1/2 yrs ago & safety was able to pull it up & requested accident report 🤷♂️

Yep I know few guys like that too.
I think the felony has to be 10 years or older ?
@Eatcrap85 maybe I'm not sure.
Safety manager had to look for the reflection off of the windshield to realize I had my phone in my hand. Walmart gave no breaks when it came to that phone policy.

As far as I know the requirements for that is you have to work at a store, distribution center, or a club to qualify to get into that program. I think it's seniority based but I'm not positive. Beyond that I'm not sure what other qualifications you need other than you probably need to have at least a class c license with a clean record but I'm only guessing on this.
That's odd. I've definitely seen several Walmart Private Fleet Drivers say the same thing, use reference to give online application priority. Well, I didn't know this before I applied, I applied on a Saturday & Recruiter emailed/invited me to 📱interview on following Monday (2 days), so now I'm wondering how that happened?? 🤔
That's because either there was more than one position available or there was a limited amount of applicants and many of them may not be as qualified as you are. It could be a multitude of reasons but when there's only one position and there's a ton of people applying you definitely want a referral. The referral thing has already been confirmed by the recruiters that this will give you a leg up in many situations.

I drove for Walmart over 22 years if you like getting treated like crap then there for you if you like being lied to then there for you there is much better jobs out there if i had it to do over again i would have made a better chaice the money they tell you is gross after they deduct there crappy medical its alot less my friends still driving there say you will slip seat
@@dewaynem559 If you weren't happy why didn't you get a different job? You say there's a lot of other jobs out there that are better than Walmart then what was the problem?
@20plustrucking it was a good job from 1995 till about 2008 then it went to shit I wound up breaking my back and Walmart showed there real colors
@@dewaynem559 I hear you I've been there since '06 and I know exactly what they did in '08. No doubt it wasn't right but since then quite a bit has changed and it's still one of the best jobs you can get in trucking hands down no argument. It's never going to be the Walmart it used to be prior to 08 That's just the way it is. Instead of being bitter about it I've decided to make the best of it and it's really paid off for me big time. Now that it's been 18 years I've gotten what I wanted out of Walmart so going forward It's just me enjoying the benefits until I'm done here or they fire me whichever comes first.
I started with walmart in 95 Ottawa ks...truck shop..it was awesome....two yrs ago i medical time ran out...in the last decade they went totally woke an DEI crazy...glad i am gone @dewaynem559
Thanks
@@LARRYLARRY704 You're welcome
Drivers do not read....its on ur phone..
Well it was a good thing I read it for everyone then lol
Which one is better? Dc or grocery?
I believe a GM DC is the best because most of that is drop and hook and I don't have to wait on store employees to do any unloading for the most part unless I'm helping one of the grocery dc's.
@ do we have a choice to pick when we get hired?
@bisdaktruckerusa697 It depends on what DC you apply for. You can apply for any DC that's within 250 mi of where you live.
@ thank you for the information I appreciate it. Drive safe always sir
Does Walmart spec any manual transmissions in their trucks or are they all automatics?
@@ryanlorenz561 nope All automatics now. It's been a couple years since I was in a manual. I thought I was going to hate it but after a couple of months and then driving in snow I was perfectly fine with them it's actually quite relaxing.
@@20plustrucking Hey thanks! Can’t argue with that. I really enjoy the manuals, especially for backing. I’ve found the Cascadia autos are fussy in reverse. Could be due to age or trans manufacturer, or both.
@@ryanlorenz561 mine's new and it seems kind of fussy and reverse too. Like it doesn't want to go and then it goes all at once.
@@20plustrucking That’s exactly how ours behave. Just another skill to learn I suppose.
@@ryanlorenz561 a lot of it has to do with if the front wheels are turned it gets into a bind.
Too strict
It really doesn't seem that way to me.
Bravo

Do you need high school diploma or GED
@@cruzvera2444 I think so but I don't think they check it I'm not sure.

@@08turboSS I've never noticed a tax increase but I'm sure you're right.
Too many rules for me and I am a smoker NO THANK YOU!!!
I don't know about the rules but I understand on the smoking for sure. I just stop and smoke and it's actually help me cut back a lot.
They ask for hazmat when your hauling food etc🤨
@@ghostrider825 We do hual some hazmat. As far as if you're hauling food for a grocery DC there is still the matter that you'll end up going to other DC's and hual for them that have some hazmat.
I’m good. Not only are their policies ridiculous, they also take 4-6 hours to unload trailers when I deliver there. Nevermind the disrespectful clerks. Walmart is a cult, and they don’t honor drivers.
That's because you're over on the third party side. As a private fleet driver just think the exact opposite and then you got it. I don't mean that disrespectfully it's just the truth.
Lo bueno que pagan bien despues de las 2 horas....

I'm in retirement are you crazy
Not that I know of. I hope you're enjoying retirement!
No thanks. Wal mart pays by the mile .
@@ThomasMckenzie-mo6qn That's only one way they pay. We get paid for all activity like drop and hook and live load. Also $42 a night for laying over in the sleeper. We get paid for wait time if any of that happens. We get paid $60 for chaining the truck. Also a 10th of our ADP generally that's about $45 an hour to do training pretty often. Pay by the mile is only a small piece of how we get paid.
@@20plustrucking OK 👍 sounds better . I didn't know the ins and ours thanks for the information .
Everyone gets paid by the mile. They simply present it differently (hourly, percentage, etc). It all breaks down by the mile.
@scmarine843 then how do you get paid by the mile when you're getting paid and you're not driving any miles at all? There's plenty of days I didn't drive even 1 mile and got paid around $500.
@20plustrucking You're being paid from money made already. It's solid they pay you something, but it's money made already (miles driven by all of the trucks, and they basically have the means to pay).

How long do you have to be there to get a 5 on 5 off?
You can bid for it as soon as there's a bid process taking place. The only thing is without seniority it may take you at least a year or more.
