      No doubt that doesn't surprise me a bit. I know in the old days before Walmart I worked twice as hard and got paid way less than half as much lol The cool thing about working here is I really enjoy going to work hopefully it's the same for you out that way.

    watched the video and read down the comments up to a guy who seemed disappointed and you asked how much he makes that hes home . im 50/50. last year i made 150, home daily. howevr i also dont feel like a truck driver as i have to work the load. ( delivery dairy). half the year - not exact,i do deliver to walmart and offload myself. i encounter your dairy and meat/produce trucks alot. make about the same according to the reefer walmart drivers i talked to, however they dont touch freight like i do. almost seems worth it to head on over to walmart. my company already has active gps monitor, inward and outward facing cams. out camera yells at us to slow down if we are going 8mph over for a minute, the raymond, New Hampshire DC is an hour and change away, lewingston ( reefer) is almost 3 hours away. im stuck, no idea what to do lol. i dont feel like a truck driver but im home daily.. im at 34.xx an hour. paid hourly. paid weekly. work 5 days - rotating schedule, weekends off every 3 weeks

      Well a lot of it probably will be based on what do you want out of a driving career. No doubt there are driving jobs out there that pay more than we do but I'm sure you'll make six figures working here no problem. The thing is this job's really easy and you get a ton of respect. Not to mention the amount of time off is awesome. I know the new drivers get 25 days off in their first year that are paid and I've been here 17 years and I get 36 paid days off plus four more paid days off as safety days throughout the year. The other major benefit working here is all the different schedules to choose from. I've been driving 22 years so I like to relax a bit that's why I work 5 days on 5 days off. You combined that schedule with the amount of PTO days off And it really adds up to a lot of home time yet I still make over six figures a year. I drive 155 mi one way to work and I don't mind at all. It cost me about $75 in gas round trip every other week. I'm not trying to get rich driving a truck I just want to have a life with my family and still drive a truck plus make a decent wage. Walmart has supplied that no problem over the last 17 years. I hope some of those details helps you out and making a decision. Let me know how it turns out you can always email me at don@20plustrucking.com

      @@20plustrucking do you have a rough idea on all schedules ? . and if you want to ( say holiday season where we spend alot or you want to run hard before a getaway vacation) can you work through your days off assuming you have the hours or do they force you to take your days off.. honestly you are winning me over. dc is 105 miles north of me, easy hour and a half or so drive

    • @20plustrucking
      @20plustrucking 3 дні тому

      @@AJ-Hunt not all DC's are exactly alike but mostly the schedules are like 5 days on 2 days off or 6 days on 2 days off or 6 days on 3 days off or like my schedule 5 days on 5 days off. I know there's several other schedules but I Don't know exactly what they are. They want you to take your days off when it's time to be off but if they're busy you could offer to work extra and they'll go for that. We don't work a log book like a normal trucking company instead they want you to do a 34 off at least so there is no gaining hours or any of that type of thing.

    Consider this. WM health insurance doubled their deductions this year up to almost $7000 for family. They cover only preventable care until you meet your deductions. That means any bloodwork. MRI, CAT, Xray, Ultrasound and ect WM insurance does not cover. You will be paying $400 monthly out of your pocket for yourself and your spouse + 100% any other bills for labs + any follow up visits $75.

    I've been driving a cmv for 15 years with one ticket 18 months ago (4 mph over). No accidents but was fired by one employer for refusing to haul an unsafe trailer. • @20plustrucking

That kind of thing is just hearsay according to what your old boss thinks. Walmart is more concerned about things like moving violations or DUIs.

What makes it nice is we mostly just drop and hook and if there is any loading or unloading it's done right away so there's no waiting around anywhere always on the move. @@jonathanbanks4427 If you want to drive and get a good job quickly as possible You start by getting your CDL and getting a few years experience without getting any tickets or accidents in the meanwhile. It's costly so if you don't have several thousand dollars to spare I would suggest going with one of these companies that helps you get your CDL and then you're required to work for them at least a year or so to pay it back. There's several companies out there that do it so I would research which ones and what they're offering. Just off hand I know CR England has a deal like that and I know they do a lot of our Walmart dedicated work. That would be good to do the Walmart dedicated for like one of our grocery dc's. After you get at least 30 months experience you'll qualify to get a job with Walmart and the best part is you've already been doing it all along in this case so that helps big time. You might start by getting online and seeing what they offer and then calling a recruiter. Generally it's pretty easy to find a contact number on their website. Like I always say Walmart's not the only game in town so you might find out there's other things you would like to do. For example fuel hauling is a pretty good gig and most of the time you're home every night. It all depends on how much money you want to make and how much you want to be home. The main thing is you can count on working a lot for a couple of years and getting that experience with not a lot of choices because of the lack of experience. There are other ways of accomplishing the same thing but if you don't know somebody that owns their own truck that's willing to help or something like that what I'm explaining is your most common way to get into a truck driving career.
