My initial setup inside my new Jason Mitchell Thermal X ice shack. Still a work in progress, but this method is working out well for me so far. Probably don't have as much gear as some, but this setup method worked really well for our first time out this season!

That's a badass setup you got there I can't wait till we get ice in mid Iowa
Gonna be a bit...wish it would be sooner. We will just keep driving north until then...
Gavin K we have been getting on the ice in Dubuque IA. 3 to 4 weeks ago...
we have got ice now! i use a frabill sentinal 1350
What is hight of otter x over fish house
That is a luxurious flip over shack, nice. Up here in the UP of Michigan we call that a house.
That looks awesome, I wish ice shacks were cheaper. Awesome vid, keep them coming
Big save at 7:39. Awesome setup, I’m jelly. No chance I can get away with dropping that much haha
Got the same shack!! Great video, find a nice 3’ x 5’ rubber entry door mat and roll it out in front of the seats, it keeps your feet warmer and the fish can’t see your silhouette!!
Works Great, Only Brand that should be used. Arrived on time and no issues with packaging.
Awesome video, it gave me a lot of ideas and I'm definitely going to buy a rigid storage box.
That's a great set up! That's a huge area!
Excellent setup you got going there. Don't know if the Clam LED lights each have a switch but if not I would definitely hook each up to an individual switch to preserve juice. You won't need all of them all of the time anyway. A nice little switch panel near the battery w/a main switch for the battery itself and switches for each individual light...or wire a switch to each light.
You'll appreciate a dimmer switch for the overhead whites. In addition to preserving juice, you can add some ambience to you and wifee's romantic evening on the ice over fresh fish fillets, fried taters and Bush's Original baked beans. May I suggest a thermos cup of Chivas Regal? Which reminds me, throw a folding tray table in the sled for those times. I also have a set of red overhead LED's to preserve night vision in between re-rigging or baiting. What kind of studio light do you use on your main camera?
Thanks for the review I'm just getting started . One ? We're do you put your anger when pulling or whatever
Great idea for tackle, I think I may use that.... thanks. Your harness that you picked up should help... I mounted one and love it
The rigid case is great. Takes a beating and doesn't mess anything up. The backpack harness works like a charm. Definitely easier on the arms!
I carry a small collapsible shovel to pull water and ice chips away from my holes. And to seal the end of the skirt at the sled
Awesome setup!!
What brand of light you have on the roof
What kind of rod holders did you install? I just bought a clam shelter similar to this one and only used it once so far, rod holders would have really been nice. I also just got some floor mats that I think will be a huge upgrade.
Looks awesome great job
Where did you get those rod holders? Thanks.
So can I store my drill auger and rods and big buddy heater with tank under the seats when travelling ? Sorry I have a clam Bigfoot and it’s huge
Do you pull that monster out by hand? I have an otter lodge flip and once I load it up with heaters and propane is a pain to pull.
Keep that second seat handy so I can join you sometime soon
I like how they also put a door in the back of the shanty so you have access to your gear in the sled from outside. Looks nice but too big and heavy for me to pull around by hand.
you don't bank snow around the skirt on the outside?
I'm in the research phase. And that's awesome. Now that you've used it some. Honestly, is it to heavy? Hard to pull, hard to load? Is a lesser insulated shelter one size down, and maybe only 600 denier better because of saving maybe 20 lbs. For a guy that's only going to use it a few times a year?
Love clam products...we should fish sometime.
What kind of ice cleats are those? All the ice cleats I find the toe part doesn’t come right over top of the toe of the boot. I can’t find any anywhere that fit
What was that power supply?
Can you go ice fishing at West Lake, Okaboji?
Great shack but there is one thing missing, a toilet. I forget the name of the one I have but it’s the 3 legged one, I paid about 100.00 for it. I never used it...yet but my wife did and she was glad we had one
great shack, thanks for sharing. can you comment on how you mount and power your gopro? is there a video on how you mount and power your camera equipment? thanks
I use a variety of mounts, but if you would like to see a video, we can definitely get one up featuring our camera equipment. Just got in some new camera stuff that may be of interest to people, so please subscribe and we will get a video out for you!
AFnS Outdoors I absolutely would be interested in a video, thank you. I will be keeping it simple - Go pro (maybe 2), but I'm not sure how to mount them to the shack, wire them or power them. I have some basic ideas, but would love to see your set up. Thsnks in advance!
I just bought that shack
What size are the plano boxes ?
Love your videos. Like the way you present. Saw the Rigid box you use for tackle storage. What box is that? Part of their pack out style?
Rigid 22in Pro Organizer. Works great for about $30
what are you using for rod holders? kool vid
Otter Outdoors adjustable rod holders. Mount to the hardware on the shack and work well.
I have an older model of that shack. The one bitch I had was the same as yours. I found a couple strips of Velcro worked great. Good luck fishing.,
What do you like about the kenders jigs
Quality and price. I really like their metallic series. I have some better glow jigs from other companies, but the metallics are really nice.
What is that Bait cooler? Great vid btw
Engel 13 quart bait cooler. Keeps the bait super fresh. It has an air pump to feed in oxygen as well. I have minnows in it currently from 2-days ago, no air running, and the water is still cool and not one dead. A little pricey, but works great in the summer to keep the bait cool.
How do you pull it out? Looks heavy.
Hand,Truck, Atv, sled?
I pull by hand until I can get the truck out. It's not too bad on ice, haven't pulled it through a bunch of snow yet though. After a couple miles it gets pretty heavy. Probably going to build a smitty sled for it.
Thx for the reply
I’m out west, I have two set ups, 1st as lite as I can go- hand pulling, 2nd pull with an ATV. Deep snow is my enemy for both.
Good Luke this year
Ya how heavy is the thing
Kenders jigs are the best
Great setup. But get rid of the big buddy though. A tank topper sunflower heater modified (tilt safety delete) onto a smaller 10lbs propane tank to be able to cook too. Save some room & weight. Otherwise great vid and great setup. Still my same shack is too big for myself to drag.
yangd0839 I don’t typically cook on the big buddy. Actually don’t run it much at all with the new shack. Ran a lot last year due to having a non-insulated one.
AFnS Outdoors just an idea if you still cook while out in the shack.
Why don't you make a wood floor? That's not fun with your feet on the snow/ice is it?
Well now that ya got a few grand invested let's see ya catch fish!
Hey where did you get the rod holders at??
