Thank you! I was glad I branched out a bit more into fantasy. Child Thief was NOT it for me. Have you read other things by Brom? I was surprised I didn't like it. The Haar is def. one to pick up!

Ahhhh! The Haar was a hit for you! I am so glad! I was raving about it in February when I read it. It was the first time I read anything from the author and I definitely want to dive back into their stuff. I think I heard from Katrina that some of his books are in the same universe as The Haar. There’s like a witch book that is set around or in the same town. So cool, right?
And I totally agree with you about Patricia wants to cuddle. I am not a big watcher of reality TV at all, but for some reason I love fiction books set during reality TV shows. (😂 don’t ask me why! 😂) So I really love the first half of this, but I really felt like it fell flat once we got to the last third of the book. It didn’t get weird. It just got random in a boring way.
I am 1000% reading remarkably bright creatures when summer rolls around! I didn’t even know that this book existed. I am here for the human - octopus relationships!!
Yes! hearing you and a few others gush about the Haar is what prompted me to pick it up. So glad I did! I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt like that about Patricia wants to cuddle. I thought I just didn't "get it" somehow. And yes to human-octo relationships! 🐙
Great Wrap-Up Kritz! Good job with the challenge, I am failing dramatically!! 😂 Flesh does not sound like the best Laymon. I still need to read Brandon Sanderson and I am always looking for palette cleansers. I loved The Haar! Muriel is one of my favorite characters ever, an old woman who refuses to give in to the worst kind of bullying, feisty and awesome. Maggie's Grave is the next on my tbr from this author. That last book has a very interesting, cover and sounds like a lot of fun! . Hope you are having an awesomely nostalgic time this April!
well I def broke the challenge with buying things, but I continue to make reading what I own a priority....so...win-win! So far, midnight's lair (my first laymon) was my favorite. Not sure if it was that much better, or the shock has worn off a bit for me.
Same feeling about puppets. He has a sequel to Cerulean Sea coming out in September. That has definitely been my favorite from him. I’m glad you enjoyed The Haar, I loved that one. One day I’ll get to Amina.. I’ve only heard great things. I’ve heard Mistborn is a good place to start with Sandy. I haven’t read it yet, but his writing is very easy to understand. 🤖
did you think the romance angle in puppets was forced and kind of weird too? I'm worried about the sequel to cerulean...because it didn't need one. Hope it can live up to the first.
@@Kritz_Reads Yep. I didn’t like the romance angle at all. I mostly had fun with it bc of the 2 robots and the fact that I buddy read it with my sister. I’m also scared about the sequel, bc I really enjoyed the first one 😬
