Thank you very much for recipe, I doubled up as you suggested and it was delicious. I also added 300gm of mushrooms and few sun dried tomatoes to the onions and garlic base, worked well for me and bulked mix up nicely. Finished with grated Parmesan 👍 Many thanks
I made this recipe today and it was delicious, the nutritional yeast really was the icing on the cake for me, I am looking forward to more recipes from you, many thanks 😀
This looks amazing and you explain it so simple and well. I'm cooking my first ever vegan pasta today. It's ok to use fresh tomatoes instead of can ones, as I have acid reflux and can't use tomatoes.😊
Amazing, almost same as mine, although I use dried lentils. Do half red half brown. Add them in when I do the onion, celery and carrots, then add the tomato paste and red wine and saute for a bit before I add the tomatoes, just to cook off the wine. Nice recipe, going to make it now
@@HeartfulTable I am new to the vegetarian diet, I have joined my daughter for health reasons and we both absolutely loved this! She said she didn't even miss the mince meat and it tasted just like a real bolognese! Yay! This one will be a keeper, thank you! I appreciate your calm and clear step by step explanation in your videos too!
Just heard your episode about creating “healthier” recipes moving forward, can’t wait to see what you two come up with and can’t wait to try this recipe.
I come regularly to make, tbh, I could do it without the video now but I still return. I grew up on the grated version which is my preference but my daughter insists on the smooth and I have no choice
Delicious recipe I made this for my vegan neighbours but I added some cheddar cheese to the lentals after they were cooked for more flavour. They said it was great.
You could but it would take longer to cook so I would add them in earlier when you add the rest of the ingredients. The texture and final taste would also be different. I personally haven’t tried it. Let me know how it turns out if you give it a go!
The nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavour. It's used a lot on vegan cooking. So you can substitute for other vegan cheese if you wish or just leave it out.
I’ve started to cut out beef from my diet for religious reasons, this was such a good alternative! So many benefits from the lentils too. Smashed it with the recipe. Thank you
I'm going to try this recipe today but I do not have nutritional yeast. Will that be alright or will the taste be significantly reduced? May I ask why so many vegan recipes use nutritional yeast?
Made this and followed the recipe exactly. Didn't turn out well because of the 'about half a cup of water in each tin' step, turned out too watery because of this. Your video also demonstrates the lentils being cooked as soon as its added in then straight away adding the spaghetti when in actual fact, this took much longer and needed longer waiting time. Appreciate the content but not the best, please be more specific next time.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear you had issues with this recipe. Did you follow the recipe as per the written instructions? I did specify that it is ½ a cup of water in each can - not half a can of water. If it was too watery, it could have required more cooking? The lentils also come from a can, so they are precooked and don't need any additional time in the pot. I assume you are referring to raw lentils? Again, sorry for the confusion and I hope you have better success next time.
cans of tomatoes😮😮😮😮??? WHY on earth you are using cans???? I ALWAYS❗️ use FRESH tomatoes ( no skin) to ANY Bolognese or ANY tomatoe based pasta sauce…. cans are disgusting 🤢
Made this last night, minus the red wine, and it was so good! My husband and I aren’t vegans but we love it. Thank you! 🙌
So glad you loved it, Diane! Thanks so much for sharing 💚

So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it really adds a great finish to the dish ☺️
What is nutritional yeast and is it that it tastes nice? Or is for nutrition? Lol….
Brilliant recipe thank you.
Prefer the grated version texture but much prefer to blend for ease and my daughter prefers smooth
This looks amazing and you explain it so simple and well. I'm cooking my first ever vegan pasta today. It's ok to use fresh tomatoes instead of can ones, as I have acid reflux and can't use tomatoes.😊
Thank you! You sure can, just make sure you use juicy tomatoes to create a nice sauce. I hope you love it! 😊
To reduce the acid in tomatoes just add a teaspoon of sugar
Love this recipe. I hope you will come back on UA-cam😊
Thank you! I will hopefully soon ☺️
I made this tonight and it will be a staple…sooo good🥰 I subbed mushroom broth for the red wine.
So happy to hear you enjoyed it!! ☺️

I cooked this for supper today and I genuinely cannot believe it's not meat! Amazing recipe. Thank you!
I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed it, Andrew! Thanks for sharing :)
Okay, this is almost identical to the recipe I use at home, but with a bay leaf and nutmeg. Excited to add them in to see what it brings to the table.
Let me know how you go with the extra flavour additions 🙂
Was really good. I added diced mushroom for a more meaty flavour.
So happy to hear your enjoyed it ☺️ mushrooms are always a good idea 👌🏼
This recipe made me subscribe. Looks amazing. Will make this tomorrow. Thank you.

Can I do this with dry lentils if so when should I put them in? Looks delicious can't wait to make it!
Cook them separately in salted water then drain and add them in at the same time as you would the canned ones. I hope you enjoy it!

I did add it in at 2.46 in the video 😊

After adding the spagetti to the sauce can you freeze it with the spagetti in it or shoulc freeze it wuthout the spagetti
I would recommend freezing the sauce on its own :)
were the lentils precooked? or do they have enough time to cook if you throw them in uncooked? great recipe and video!
Yes they were, they come pre-cooked in a can. Enjoy!

Is that regular pasta or lentil/pulse pasta? I’m trying to figure out if lentil pasta has a better texture than normal gluten free pasta.
This is just regular pasta ☺️
@@HeartfulTable okay thought so. Thank you 😊

That is the first time I've ever seen or heard of nutritional yeast.
Welcome to the world of possibilities!
Delicious but I like my spaghetti separated!!! 😂❤
Eat it whichever way you like!
Is the yeast necessary, I've never heard if it before? Any substitute for it?

I'm going to try this recipe today but I do not have nutritional yeast. Will that be alright or will the taste be significantly reduced? May I ask why so many vegan recipes use nutritional yeast?
It will be fine without it. In a vegans world, it adds that ‘cheesy’ umami flavour to foods 😊
What can I put in instead of wine please?
You can just leave it out ☺️
@@HeartfulTable thankyou
Are there substitutes for the wine?
You can just add more water or vegetable stock ☺️

Hi! What kind of lentils did you use?
Brown lentils 🙂
@@HeartfulTable Thank you! Can't wait to try this out :)
Are you related to the minimalist baker?
No we are not 😊
Is it for 2 persons or higher?
This recipe serves 6 people.
I watched this twice and can't see where the lentils are?
They're added at the 4:07 mark :)
you need to add a lot more salt to the pasta water!!
Salt is always to each persons own taste!
