Ardbeg 10...smells like a dumpster fire of band aids and pine tar...doesn't taste much better either. The Elijah Craig, however is magical! Like others have suggested, 4 Roses Single Barrel is really good for the price point. Can we talk about how good Wild Turkey 101 is for right around $20? Keep up the good work on the videos, brother!

Excellent list. I think of all these, Elijah Craig SMall Batch is the most underlooked and under-appreciated. It is my favorite budget daily (I get it for $23 a bottle).

Great list! Started to widen my horizons by venturing into whiskey/bourbon/scotch during a walleye fishing trip to Canada. I'm a huge ipa/craft beer fan (and red wine when going out with my wife and no I don't have a problem)) but really enjoy a pour after dinner....I just treated myself with 2 new ones I had never tried 9Merry Christmas!), Ardbeg 10 ($55 gift pack here in Phoenix) and Angel's Envy ($36 during the once a year sale at Fry's Grocery Store). I agree with Elijah Craig and believe 1792, Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve and Larceny ($25 here in Phoenix) are excellent for the money. I hope everyone is able to enjoy the holidays with family and friends and a toast "To all of us hard working men and woman for a memorable Man Shit 2020!"

So I'm and island boy and grew up on spiced rum, specifically Haitian rum. If you know the 8 star it burns your soul but i loved it. Recently i wanted to get into cigars and whiskey and came across this channel. I bought the Dalmore and i think just being in Jersey the price was $70, but...........HOLY CRAP!! Guys its smooth with so much flavor. Couldn't get a davidoff but hey found a drink. Its so good I kind of don't want to drink it cause i want it to last haha. Thanks Jeremy!!

As soon as I heard your description of the Ardbeg 10 I knew I needed that in my life. I love it!! I had a bottle of 8 year Elijah Craig that I bought after a recommendation. I liked it. However, I took a small flask of it Pheasant hunting a year ago. It was cold out and we had been finding nothing due to the wind conditions. When I finished hunting, I sipped a draw off of the flask. I don't know if it had something to do with the exertion or the temperature but all of the harshness that it usually there was gone. It literally tasted a bit like orange marmalade. I thought I was going nutty so I had a couple of friends who are also into whiskey give it a shot and they noticed the same flavor profile. Much smoother, much sweeter. I loved it. When I got home and was rested I took a drink of it and it was back to its old self again. Don't know what the science is behind that but I liked it.

Just turned 50 mid April. Have not touched whiskey since I was 22-23 years old. A friend bought me a bottle of four roses single barrel and its pretty decent. I picked up the Elijah Craig today. Will give it a try this evening. Buffalo Trace is easy for us to get in Missouri so It will be my next purchase due to all the recommendations I have received. Might have to look at that American Whiskey too.

I generally do not like pairing my whiskies and cigars. But when I do I have had a hard time finding the best combination. I will say that the ardbeg 10 and Kentucky fire curred cigar is the perfect pairing. They compliment each other so well. The cigar smells like Peat but the taste is like a delicious barbecue sauce. It is also very smoky and again compliment a perfect pairing.

Speyburn 10 year, it's about 30 bucks in my area and it is absolutely amazing.
Super buttery nose with a great sherry sweetness and a slight earthy taste.
If you want a budget Islay scotch just to see if you even like the heavy peat and saltyness that comes from the region try McClellands Islay, not as good as laphroaig or ardbeg but it gives you a $20 sample of what to expect and if you think you could handle it go for the more expensive one.

Your wife is a terrific sport!! I have never been able to go near the sugary cocktails. I love bitters and I adore Campari. Islay Scotch is fabulous and for a bourbon, I thoroughly enjoy Woodford Reserve. The Woodford Reserve stands up well to a large "good and clear" ice cube, and doesn't get too diluted. I want the flavours in a Boulevardier or Old Fashioned to stay strong. I love Michter's American Whiskey over ice to sip slowly and enjoy! Great value for the price. I spend about $75.00-80.00 per bottle at a minimum for decent bourbon but I do love an Elijah Craig as well! You are right on - terrific quality for the price. It's fabulous for an Old Fashioned. Woodford Reserve is my favourite - so delicious and smooth!! Oh, hey, I'm a Canadian!! I am in Vancouver. It's mild and warm here - well compared to other parts of Canada. So, we don't all love maple syrup!! Lol! Vancouver is pretty much like Seattle for climate. I know many Americans think we live in Igloos but it's not the case!! Gorgeous provinces - come and visit!! Vancouver has a very sophisticated whiskey spirit culture. Very laid back city! My husband and I have done the Woodford Reserve Distillery tour! It's exceptional!! Love your videos!!

Count me in as a subscriber...whisky and cigars...giddy up! Dalmore is one of my favourite scotches, discovered while in vacation in Scotland a couple of summers ago. I always have a bottle of it on hand with a Glenlivet 15. Bourbon is growing on me so I tried the Woodford Reserve Double Barrel and it’s fantastic! Available in Ontario at the LCBO for $69.99 a bottle. It’s right up there with Blanton’s for me...love it and it’s going to be a permanent bottle in my house selections.

Great commentary, Have the last (3) in my collection, EC SB is the straight up go to, on any given evening. Dalmore was great but it has been a number of years. Was just telling a friend of Ardbeg, will have to find a 10yr. Tonight, will pour a drab of my WRDO. Glasses up!!!!

So I cheered when he said Dalmore cause I've had a Dalmore Cigar malt. It's expensive but the flavor is amazing.
Also when mentioned small batches, it reminded me of my favorite small batch Bourbon. Long Branch Wild Turkey. It's currently my favorite Bourbon and it's for under $50.

I walked in one week to buy some, the store had some Buffalo trace. Next week that was gone but eagle rare was in its spot. Those two are damn good. Cheers

Best whisky I ever tasted was Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or 12 years. This whisky is not the most expensive and it will blow your mind! I also like oak and maple strong bourbons so I will definitely try the Woodford double oaked. And it's available in Canada but it's 72$... Thanks for taking the time to suggest these fine products!

I too have visited the woodford distillery and loved it. That is where I discovered the double oaked bourbon. Needless to say, it is my go to drink now. I enjoy watching your videos and take note of your comments when describing flavors of whiskey, scotch and bourbon. I’ve been hell bent on bourbon for a number of years now and am just starting to open up to trying other types like Canadian whiskey and scotch. I must admit, scotch is a bit of a challenge for me since the flavors are so different from my usual bourbon. The scotch that I’ve tried simply taste bland. Maybe I just haven’t found the right one yet. I’ll be taking notes from your videos and thanks for making them.

    • @JeremySiers
      @JeremySiers  4 роки тому

Try some Lagavulin or Ardbeg, definitely nothing bland about those. they are a bit of a challenge and waaaaay different than bourbon. You’ll either love it or hate it 😜
I have found after drinking isle scotches like Ardbeg when I go back to bourbon they are even sweeter and I pick up on things I didn’t before. It’s a fun experiment for whiskey lovers. Cheers 🥃
