Got 3 bottles of 1792 Full Proof Single Barrel Select for $50 each. One is being gifted to my brother in celebration of his graduation. It’s one of my favorites and easily worth $100 in my book.
I know I'm a year late, but I just started watching your content. But I bought a bottle of Nelson brothers Greenbrier sour mash....I really love it. It mixes well, and is great on its own. $38. I mix whiskey sours at parties and everyone loves the whiskey and always asks what it is.
For my tastes the Wild Turkey Rare Breed and the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof are fantastic values. Rare Breed is the brash young upstart and ECBP is the mature older gentleman. I have multiples of each in my supply.
I just passed your channel on to a couple of buddies at work who are getting into bourdon. I told them you guys are a great source with a lot of good bourbon content! Please keep doing what you do!
Just recently got into bourbon. Almost 45 years old. Your channel is one of my favorites and has guided me well on my journey. Thank you for sharing your experience and all your hard work. You have a beautiful bar.
Im fairly new to bourbon but ive really enjoyed bulleit, beam devils cut, 4 roses small batch, and redwood empire rye. I think theyre all great for the money.
Old Forester 1920 is my personal favorite and the rear bread is in my top 5 , hear in my area of Massachusetts it runs between $49 and &58 dollars since the summer of 2021 , also old grand dad 114 and Early times bottle and bond are not available in my Area, but I do have 11 of the 15 bottles you highlighted today all of them well worth the price and very enjoyable
On almost all bourbon review videos I skip ahead to get the bottom line, but I watch yours all the way through - very informative, no fluff. Well done.
One thing that I would personally like to see when you do these reviews of multiple bottles, is to provide a list of the bourbons you are presenting in the description. This would help so we could take a screenshot of it and forward it to an email or a printer, etc.
@@CameronLestagez Came here to say this. No offense, but if someone wants a written out list, just Google it. Creators on UA-cam spend a lot of time on these videos and should not be expected to create options that allow the viewer to not even watch one second of the video.
Love this list. One of the things that I think sets your show apart is that it is approachable for everybody. This list give people really good bourbons that they can actually put their hands on.
Russells and Knob Creek 9 are at the top of my list. I think those are two that I keep backups just in case the age statement gets pulled. I'm glad to be seeing more videos like this recently. People need to be reminded that there are some great values out there and they don't need to be chasing unicorns.
On Christmas my son and I tried a bottle of Blade and Bow. On Thanksgiving we tried a bottle of 1792. I enjoyed the lesser priced 1792 over the Blade and Bow by a considerable margin.
thanks for your honest reviews.. If you have never had The Clover single barrel you are missing out...50.00 bottle here in myrtle beach sc...another one of my newer favorites is driftless glenn a total wine pick. Flavors are up there with hundred dollar bottles...thanks foer your honest reviews...
Amazing video and this is so helpful. The one I currently have from this group is the Coopers craft 100 proof amd I love it for $30 in my market. Highly recommend to anyone who likes bourbon with cherry cola notes.
Found your channel when I was having trouble with refrigerator ice making my evening Manhatten or Martini smell like sewer water. Making my own ice from Spring Water thanks to you! I have always used something low end like Jim Beam or JW Dant but I bought 4 bottles in the 35-60 range and now I drinking more straight. With the 100's of labels out there your channel keeps me from going down the rabbit hole. Four Roses SB my fav so far, one of your strong recommendations. I prefer drinking over ice or with water due to a strong cough reflex and I want to recommend the James Bentley Whiskey Glasses. They are double-walled to prevent heat/cold transfer and condensation. Comes with two glasses and two spherical silicone ice molds. Under $50 from Amazon. Thanks again for a very helpful channel. Born and raised in DA REGION!
Great video! One of my favorites (not on your list) is EW BIB. Up until this past year, I could grab a 1.75L bottle for $27 out the door. Now I'm paying about $32- which I still think is a good deal for what I'm getting. I love it neat, but will sometimes put an ice cube in it. No doubt that it punches well above its price point. Surely can't go wrong with the OF 100 proof either! Fantastic stuff on the cheap!
Even Williams I think is fantastic and it’s super cheap. It’s great for mixing and is not bad for sipping straight. Also Woodford reserve is one of my favourites. Super cheap as well.
i really like all of them, since ive been watching you guys , i have been buying all kinds of the ryes, and the bourbons, thank you.had to build me a bigger cabinet, haha
I had already tried several of these. Knob Creek and Wild Turkey 101 are my favorites listed. I just bought a bottle of 1792 ($29.99 in Abilene, TX) and it is quite good. Not as good as Knob Creek, but still pretty good for sipping.
Great list 90% are currently at my bar….. I will agree with you the old Forrester 100 is so solid and great to mix cocktails drink neat or over a cube of ice…. knob Creek‘s are so delicious in just about every expression they make… Elijah Craig always reminds me of a good cup of coffee in the morning that’s great To sip… comforting and very earthy if that makes sense…. as usual a fantastic list with prices skyrocketing everywhere staying under a reasonable budget is quintessential nowadays
A great list, all great pours. Here in TN WTRB has been $52 for quite a while Old Forester 1920 is at $65. Too much for the 1920 but the Rare Breed is still a bargain to me.
All solid choices! I stopped chasing allocated whiskeys and started chasing good available whiskeys. i have almost every bottle on this list! Old forester 1920 is absolutely delicious! Love your channel man!! 😊😊 cheers!
If you get a chance go to a whiskey bar or some liquor store allow tasting (ask them). Find what you like. WT101 has been my go to with Rare Breed being my special. Russell's reserve recently is replacing both.
Hey Kurt, great videos. My wife and I just started on our journey of experiencing bourbons and other whiskeys. These videos that you and your son do are very informative and have helped us to start at the start. The first five bottles we have now unopened are Wild Turkey 101, Rare Breed, Maker’s Mark (Bill’s Recipe No 46) French Oak, Maker’s Mark Cask Strength and an Irish Whiskey called Red Locks. Thanks again for the videos. Now to get a couple of your Glen Carin glasses. 👍🏻
I have all those bottles except for Early times BIB, Old Grandad 114, Coopers Craft those I have never seen in my area, and the Jim Beam and the Elijah Craig not sure if I've ever seen the Nulu in my area either but I have all the rest of those bottles and I enjoy all of those. Great video!
So nice to see a channel that doesn’t dismiss the Jim Beam, Knob Hill and Elijah Craig bourbons. They deliver for the price and you can even use them in cooking without cringing at the price. Well done.
Thanks for info on Rare Breed! In Czech republic still for 790CZK, which is 33,50 dollars... Going to buy some more.... Still do not understand how Rare Breed can be so easily bought here and for such a price, while most of your list is not even sold here unfortunately....
I love Four Roses small batch. When I can find it, Buffalo Trace. been drinking the 86 proof Old Forester most evening. I am all about budget (4 kids).
You picked a bunch of my favorites. I can't afford to buy a lot of bottles so I generally follow your lead. Wild Turkey 101 is my main go to. I love that Rare Breed though and I keep it for special occasions. Here in Oregon, it's $44.95 which is a great buy! Thanks for your work and your shows.
You are correct, sir, that Wild Turkey 101 is "the bomb." It would be a bargain at twice the price. Definitely my "go-to" bourbon. Nice to know I'm not the only one.
Great list. had most, gonna have to pick up russells 10 and knob creek 9... I also use OGD 114 for cocktails and will use WT101 for cocktails and infusions too. so many best bang for your buck. thanks for all the hard work and sharing. cheers
I slept on bottle that I enjoyed over the regular wild turkey is the Wild Turkey Rye 101 $17 I almost finished the whole bottle during the 4th of July holidays.
What a great show! Thank you so much for all your hard work. Being new at collecting bourbon I really appreciated this information and was pleasantly surprised to know that I have had most of these bottles at one time or another on my bar. Only one I would add is Eagle Rare which is hard to find in my area but one of my all time favorites. My son just got me a bottle from Virginia at $40 and I think that’s a great value too for some fabulous juice. 🥃
I currently have 12/15 bottles you selected. I personally like the OGD bonded better than the 114 but both are solid. A few others I like that are great value are Jim Beam Double Oak, Larceny Small Batch, and Very Old Barton. I believe u have reviewed them in the past. Keep up the good work!
Great list once again!! Rare Breed here in South Dakota has always been around 50-55....still worth every penny in my opinion 👍 I am also not a fan of most Jim Beams however the Double Oak is a good pour.
I would love to see Wild Turkey release the Rare Breed Unchillfiltered here in the US. They do it for the rye, but not the bourbon. Kurt, I'd love to see a mini-series of videos for someone just starting to build a bourbon collection. What are the first 5 you'd buy? The next? The next? The next? I've become more of a Scotch drinker, but I still want a good core of bourbon choices in my bar.
I would think that would probably be too similar to some of the other videos they have done to make it worth while. I mean this video alone is a good start for your first 15 bottles, and then they have alot of videos recommending their favorite $30 bourbon's, then step up to their video on favorite $40 or $50 (i forgot the number) bottles. They have done this for bourbon''s, ryes, scotches, etc.
You boys drink cheap in your part of the country! On 12 Dec 22, I picked up a bottle of Knob Creek #9 at our local ‘Idaho State run’ liquor store for $39.95 + $2.40 State Tax, totaling a whopping $42.35!! I liked the #9. It was very good but a little mild, maybe sweeter tasting, than I prefer. I remain a Wild Turkey devotee but certainly wouldn’t turn down a Knob Creek #9 moving forward down the road of life… I appreciate your ‘crew’s’ fun approach to introducing people to our country’s rich Bourbon heritage..
You've put together a really solid list of recommendations, most of which are widely available, even here in Oregon (except the KC SiB, which I never see). Well done. Cheers!
Great list! Had them all (except for the last one) and totally agree. I was also shocked to see the Rare Breed for $56 at my local Binny's a few weeks ago. I used to get it at Costco for around $42, but haven't seen it in a while.
I like the 4 Roses small batch way better! You need to try Bradshaw bourbon! It is one of the best bourbons for under $40!! Also Wyoming Whiskey reserve is off the charts! Enjoy
Great selections. I've had 14 and agree they are all fantastic. Even though prices are creeping up, how awesome is it that we have so many great choices for premium juice that range from cheap to at least reasonable? Money a major contributor as to why I don't get into Scotch as much.
I recently found George Dickel Single Barrel 15 year old TN Whisky. While technically not a bourbon, it's close enough in my view and currently my best buy recommendation at ~$60. I definitely agree with your Old Foster, Early Times, Coopers Craft, and Jim Beam selections. I'd go with Elijah Craig small batch over the BP. I'd add Chattanooga 91 and 111 as well as Wheel Horse to your list if you can find them.
Rare breed here in Charlotte NC is $52 also. Our favorites right now are, woodinville straight bourbon whiskey. High west bourbon also very good. Nelson’s green briar Tennessee whiskey also surprisingly very good. Jesse James American outlaw bourbon, $16.95 80 proof was also one of our favorites
Thanks for the big list! No one can limit their fav’s to just 5. That said, I just bought a new handle of WT101, and can’t believe how good it is for the $$$. I have a couple other great bottles handy for company this weekend - WT Rare Breed and Woodford Double Oaked. The 101 stands up pretty good against them for half the price.
I just bought a bottle of Rare Breed because of your recommendation. I live just east of Cincinnati and paid around 54 for it. This was worth every penny. Wow is this stuff good. Got it at our local Kroger's store only bottle they had left and I have never seen it before.
Nice list. Not super hyped about 1792, but I wouldn't turn down a double. Wild Turkey > Old Forester. Not crazy about Russell's. Love Knob Creek and Old GranDad. Discovered Cooper's very recently and love it. For me, the best bourbons foe the money are: Buffalo Trace, Balcones Pot Still, and Rare Breed.
Absolutely love your channel! Got my last bottle of Rare Breed for $44 at a big box store in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area about a month ago. Now they're out of stock, but I can find it at several other stores around me for $52 to $58. I'm afraid the price at the big box store will go up significantly when back in stock. When I compare it to other barrel proof bourbons, I do think it is worth that higher price- just love it- my favorite... but dang, it is just insanely incredible in that 40ish price range. Oh well- can still get a 1 liter bottle of good ol' 101 for $25. Hope that price stays where it's at. I can't believe I can get it for that price when I love the flavor profile so, so much!
At MSRP is right. It's a solid value at 30, 40 tops but that's not happening anymore. People need to stop buying eagle rare and drive the price down. Nobody should be paying $60-70 or even more for that. That's a perfect example of overvalued.
Have never seen an ECBP store pick so that’s cool! I left out allocated bottles but you are absolutely correct! ER and Buffalo Trace are fantastic buys at retail.
Solid lineup. Like Trenton in your Old Forester full line review, I think I like the 1910 a bit more than the 1920. I need to have them side by side to confirm, but the 1910 is smooth and delicious. I've got most of those bottles. Glad you put MM cask strength in. One of my overall favorites, and well worth anything under $40.
Excellent lineup 👏 Pretty tough and highly debatable category but can't disagree with any of those choices ( sure others will ) Always looking for the best VALUES in bourbon and this definitely highlights 15 of them - at different price points. Great job!!
This was my favorite bourbon video on UA-cam. If you ask me? #1 Evan Williams bib #2 old grand dad 114, and #3 wild turkey Rare Breed. Is game theory optimal if you wanted the best in test. merica 🇺🇸 Mike
Your first 3 are 3 of my all-time favorites! Rare Breed has always been $69 here. Everything you laid out I have not tried is on my must buy list. I take my KC Single Barrel neat, but will try over ice. I would've added regular EC small batch to that list.
Rare Breed has always been in the $60ish range out here in northern CA. Costco had it for $52 the last time I picked some up. Never seen in under $50. But only been collecting for less than a year.
I appreciate your honesty and brevity. If this is not the most comprehensive bourbon review...please show me. Four Roses Small Batch is my go to bourbon. UA-camr since 2015
Just found your channel. I always stock 11 of the 15 you mentioned. I started two years trying to rank my bourbons weighted by costs for everyday sipping. In the early 2000's my wife got a bottle of 23-yr-old Pappy Van Winkle for $125 and I thought it was the best bourbon ever back then. My local liquor store currently has a bottle for $9,999. It will never taste that good for that price. I'll take a bottle of Wild Turkey 101 any day for the taste at a reasonable price.
Love your videos. My favorite every day burbon was four roses single barrel .... until i tried old foresters 1920. Only problem is it's 70.00 were I live.
I have settled on the Knob Creek 9 and the 4 Roses Single barrel as the best price/ quality ratio and as my house bourbons. But any of these are solid suggestions and this video has my wanted to return to the 1920. Cheers
@slb drinks RB in my area is over $50, but I've recently seen it at Sam's Club for $46. We also have an unclaimed freight store that has a great alcohol section, including Bourbon. They have F1910 and 1920 on sale for under $50 each.
Just recently tried Wild Tuekey's Rare Breed Rye barrel strength. It was nice. Here in middleTennessee, the regular barrel strength was about $54, the rye about $65.
You have one of if not the best bourbon/whiskey drinking channels on youtube. No pretense, no arrogance and no hipstery nonsense. Thank you!
That hipster nonsense really puts me off. Kurt is kinda like Jimmy Russell....simple with no bull sh*t
Agreed! Kurt is relatable with a great family and content almost as good. The real deal!
I second!
100%
You mean the pretense and arrogance of constantly using "notes of" followed by "vanilla", "caramel", etc.? 🤣🤣

I like Evan Williams single barrel, too. Very smooth.
Got 3 bottles of 1792 Full Proof Single Barrel Select for $50 each. One is being gifted to my brother in celebration of his graduation. It’s one of my favorites and easily worth $100 in my book.
I'm a huge fan of the Old Forester line. The 1910 is wonderful!
This new 1910 label is 🔥

Love your characterization of the bottles!
Elijah Craig Small Batch is the only thing in my cabinet. I like Woodford Reserve as well, but for the difference in price I will stick with ECSB.
I’m addicted to ECBP after drinking it at a local bar! And already have the Turkey rare breed, great taste my friend 👍🏻
I just passed your channel on to a couple of buddies at work who are getting into bourdon. I told them you guys are a great source with a lot of good bourbon content! Please keep doing what you do!
A perfect old fashioned in my opinion.
2oz - OGD 114
2-3 dashes of angusturia bitters
.5oz of Demerara syrup
Garnish with orange
The 114 is not available where I shop but the bonded is. That also makes a good old fashioned.
Love your recipe!
Just recently got into bourbon. Almost 45 years old. Your channel is one of my favorites and has guided me well on my journey. Thank you for sharing your experience and all your hard work. You have a beautiful bar.
OGD 114, Knob Creek 9 Year and Four Roses Single Barrel are in my current rotation.

That was the intention. Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are magnificent buys at msrp but most never see them. Sad
I have eagle rare, buffalo trace, and Blanton's
But still a fine bourbon me and my buddy love and I have to lock up is Penelope
But my two cheapest and favorites are larceny and Yellowstone they are great for sipping or mixed drinks

💯 agree!
Knob Creek for sure. It's my favorite
Knob Creek single barrel reserve for sure it the best. But widow Jane runs a close 2nd

I will always champion JTS Brown. Great bourbon for about $20. The higher proof one is awesome on its own. The lower proof is a great mixer.
The drink of choice of Fast Eddie Felson from The Hustler!

Great list once again!! Rare Breed here in South Dakota has always been around 50-55....still worth every penny in my opinion 👍 I am also not a fan of most Jim Beams however the Double Oak is a good pour.
Same here in Florida. I’ve only ever seen the Rare Breed at $50-$55. And I too agree that it’s worth the value. The Rye as well! YUM!
Rare Breed is $48 in central florida. worth the price. great list. i enjoy your channel.
I also would love to try a rare breed nonchill filtered! Appreciate your recommendation!
Well done. Cheers!
Wild Turkey Rare Breed Bourbon $53.99 - $58.99 (750 ml depending upon which store you go to) in Georgia north of Atlanta.
Great list! Had them all (except for the last one) and totally agree. I was also shocked to see the Rare Breed for $56 at my local Binny's a few weeks ago. I used to get it at Costco for around $42, but haven't seen it in a while.
Binnys had their Buffalo Trace barrel pick earlier this week.....maybe too late FYI ....its really good
So our area in general has seen the biggest increase it looks like. Not cool.
Understand that. Scotch can be a bit more of an investment.
Excellent presentation. Very thorough and honest.
I believe Trent has the Dickel 15. Need to give that a try!
Came across a bottle of George Dickel bourbon. Till then I thought that Four Roses was going to be my go-to. Now I have two!
Tennessee whiskey, by definition, a bourbon. So, any Tennessee whiskey can go on a bourbon ranking list.
Boy you named a few I have never tried! The Woodenville was in my original list of 20. Great buy!
I appreciate the hours put into this video for us to watch
Labor of love lol
Great job across the board, can't disagree with any one of them .
Great options!
Good stuff!
I just bought a bottle of Rare Breed because of your recommendation. I live just east of Cincinnati and paid around 54 for it. This was worth every penny. Wow is this stuff good. Got it at our local Kroger's store only bottle they had left and I have never seen it before.
Always,ALWAYS an informative and entertaining show!!
I LOVE Old Tub. Dont know what it is, but it really does it for me. Thats my fav for the price.
Love this list. I have tried or own several. My personal limit is $60 for bourbon. So many great bourbon's for $60 or less!
No doubt!
Agreed!
Here in central KY, Rare Breed is also $50-$55 now. Used to be $40 regularly until recently.
Rare Breed at Total Wine on Long Island is $54.99
Rare Breed $ 47 in ID. It's increased around 5-6 $. Still a good buy, cheers.
ECBP Store picks are always a buy in my book.. also I would add Eagle Rare at MSRP to this list
Rarely see Eagle rare. Actually saw a bottle yesterday for $70.... pass.
At MSRP is right. It's a solid value at 30, 40 tops but that's not happening anymore. People need to stop buying eagle rare and drive the price down. Nobody should be paying $60-70 or even more for that. That's a perfect example of overvalued.
@@BigBadJerryRogersagreed. I did pay $30 for regular buffalo trace and had a couple pours from it with no regret, but
Have never seen an ECBP store pick so that’s cool! I left out allocated bottles but you are absolutely correct! ER and Buffalo Trace are fantastic buys at retail.
Honestly Rare Breed is my favorite bourbon I have, absolutely fantastic.
My area is been at $50 for a long time
Solid lineup.
No doubt! 1910 is a wonderful bourbon as well!
Best value for me is the OF1920, so good on so many levels. Jackie Zacan made big moves while at OF.
Anxious to try her new venture, Hidden Barn.
Would love to find that Hidden Barn here soon!
Excellent lineup 👏
Pretty tough and highly debatable category but can't disagree with any of those choices ( sure others will ) Always looking for the best VALUES in bourbon and this definitely highlights 15 of them - at different price points. Great job!!
Thank you!
This was my favorite bourbon video on UA-cam. If you ask me? #1 Evan Williams bib #2 old grand dad 114, and #3 wild turkey Rare Breed. Is game theory optimal if you wanted the best in test. merica 🇺🇸 Mike
As always from SLB and gang…great show and great list! Couldn’t agree more!
Find myself going back to the old forester 100 and coopers craft over and over again
Your first 3 are 3 of my all-time favorites! Rare Breed has always been $69 here. Everything you laid out I have not tried is on my must buy list. I take my KC Single Barrel neat, but will try over ice. I would've added regular EC small batch to that list.
EC was in my original list of 20.
Rare Breed has always been in the $60ish range out here in northern CA. Costco had it for $52 the last time I picked some up. Never seen in under $50. But only been collecting for less than a year.
Jeez. I can get rare breed here in TX for $46. Maybe I should start buying more bottles. Russel's SiB is $63 for me.
Rare Breed at Woodman's grocery store in Rockford IL. $45, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof $60, Knob Creek 9 year $29 and Wild Turkey 101 $20.
I appreciate your honesty and brevity. If this is not the most comprehensive bourbon review...please show me. Four Roses Small Batch is my go to bourbon. UA-camr since 2015
I’ve had a bunch of medium & high end bourbons. I keep going back to Woodford & wild Turkey 101
Completely agree! Great buy on the 23 yr congrats!
Love your videos. My favorite every day burbon was four roses single barrel .... until i tried old foresters 1920. Only problem is it's 70.00 were I live.
Oh, that is a bit of a price bump on the 1920.
Wish I could find Early Times BiB...!?!
Old Grand Dad BiB is a great pour for a great price.......! Love the 4Roses sb also...!
Love your vids. On this one you picked a couple of my favorites, 4 Roses and Knob Creek 9. I'd add Buffalo Trace to the list IMHO.
Rarebreed in Boca Raton Total Wine and More its 45 bucks as of 2 weeks ago... however there werent many left.
Decent buy.
Excellent list, although I'd swap out one of the old forester for Evan Williams Single Barrel. Old Forrester is just hit or miss for me.
I agree totally with everything you said especially the wild Turkey man people are missing out on a great bourbon
Just recently tried Wild Tuekey's Rare Breed Rye barrel strength. It was nice. Here in middleTennessee, the regular barrel strength was about $54, the rye about $65.
