Took me 8 years after I retired to buy my first luxury watch and I bought the Aqua Terra 41mm blue dial with the blue band. Got a great deal on a used one from my local watch dealer. No box or papers but came with a two year warranty all for $3300 dollars. The year on it is 2020. I love this watch and wear it a lot. I have a 7 inch wrist.
Same situation I went through with the AT. Was obsessed with the black 38mm in 2020 until I tried it on, but I was underwhelmed by the dial. Loved the size. Then later I was intrigued by the green. Could just about see it fitting me when I tried it on, but not sold. Then I saw the white/silver 38 and fell in love. The blackened hands and the slight shimmer of the dial for me are perfect. Have the OEM leather and the bracelet. Love both looks. It’s really like having two completely different watches. I think the 38 looks perfect on your wrist. Great presentation as always Andy
Just purchased the 38 in Black. An elegant, everyday watch with 19mm rubber strap. This video helped me decide. Thank you It reaffirms my exact thoughts.
I tried on the new colourful 38mm Aqua Terra models this week. They feel quite small and dressy to me but they’ve done a really nice job. A adjustable clasp would have been nice but I wouldn’t wear the bracelet tight because it’s a small light watch. They definitely did the right thing changing the date window before release. It looks really good and ties in visually with the applied markers. The bracelet is a little work of art too.
Lovely graphic presentation of the watches… very slick. Thank you. The 41mm Green does look good imo. Also, loving the new ‘Jubilee’ style bracelet on the vibrant coloured dials
Thank you for the detailed comparison, I was already heading to the 38 and this finally convinced me. Since last year only, I started to wear smaller watches, Khahi Field 38mm, Big Crown Cervo Volante 38mm and a bit larger because diving watch the Yema Superman 39mm: wearing watches correctly sized for my wrist is finally much more enjoyable everyday, and even the speedmaster reduced at 38mm is now back on my wrist after being left appart in the box for years
I have the 41mm AquaTerra in the lighter blue dial with horizontal pattern. It’s sort of a “steel blue” color. The 41mm wears nicely on my 8 inch wrist. Fantastic watch and one of my favorites!
I have 7 inch wrist. Im afraid it will wear too small for me. But you say you have 8 inch and it wear perfect for you.. i havent tried it since there are no omega store in where i live. Some online shop listed it for $3300 used 2018 very good condition. Really caught my eyes but confused of the size hahaha. Idk how it fits in my wrist.
My wrist is 7 inches as well and I have the same 41mm AquaTerra as this gentleman. I have had it on my wrist for 2 years now and its stunning. No regrets not going with the 38mm. Love the way it sits on my wrist. Extremely comfortable and accurate. Easy to wear with dress shirts due to its low height. You will not have any regrets. @@ganbatte1260
When I was looking to buy a moonwatch, the green aquaterra really caught my eye. However that only came in a 41mm which actually felt a lot bigger on the wrist compared to a Speedy Pro 42mm! I eventually opted for the iconic Speedy as it wore smaller but I would have really struggled to make a decision if they had the same green in 38mm - I think Omega missed a trick there!
I have the 41 in black with the Omega strap/deployment clasp. It looks fantastic and is very light. This is my travel watch so the one hour jump time adjustment is wonderful. With my 7.5 inch wrist it is the perfect size for me. I also have the 8800 in a Sea Master 300m. Great watch but prefer the 8900 for time adjustment.
I just purchased the 41mm dark blue, with the light blue Seamaster writing and numbers at 12,3,6 and 9. This also has the 8900 but the older version of the movement in. Hopefully it turns up tomorrow.
Very good review. I love the details and comparison with previous generations. not often tackled. Worth pointing out that the 8900 mechanism is doubled barrelled for extra precision in spring balancing, rather then using it for reserve. One of the best three hander movements ever made. In terms of size, i have a smallish 6.7" wrist but the 41mm is the only one. The short lug to lug is great and it looks great on the wrist. The 38mm to me looks too small and doesnt have the same presense.
I have the 41 mm small seconds it is quite chunky and heavy for the style of watch .. I’m 6’3 and 7.5 but tend to prefer smaller watches these days so it would be 38 mm if I were to buy again . Nonetheless I do like it but had to take it off the bracelet and pair it with a padded leather to really enjoy it had a clunky Vibe on bracelet and felt a little heavy for my tastes I think the small seconds is around 164 grams
Got to try the new 38mm yesterday at the omega boutique at the Trafford centre in blue and green and they were the first they had received since the release last year. They were very nice and fit perfectly on my wrist but we're just to shiny to be an everyday watch. I prefer the IWC Mark XX on bracket with a blue dial
AT vs. Mark XX - That’s an interesting comparison. Wouldn’t have necessarily thought of it, myself. But, I see where you’re going with it. At the end of the day, I still think one could own both wo/it being redundant.
I've got 38. Worn a 41 that my friend has. The 38mm Aqua Terra case for me is a great fit whereas the 41mm is just too big. However, the rubber strap is a little slim and would have preferred 20mm instead of 19mm. I prefer it on the bracelet as more presence. On my 6.5 the 38 is preferable but I think 39 would have allowed wider lugs.
Have you ever considered the older model with 8500 caliber? Ive got my aqua terra skyfall for few years now, still running perfectly. It has 60 hrs pwr and jumping hour hand same as 8900 but in 38mm size. Plus the bracelet is fully brushed 🤓
The Terra cotta dial is made from machined brass to get that Sun ray effect, maybe that justifies the higher price ..38 mm for my 7.25 “ wrist is just right and I have the Planet Ocean as well..
I’d be tempted with the new Exp 40! Or the blue dial OP41 (actually measures 39-40 I think) Alternatively, the GS 9F quartz models in 40, blue dial especially, might be worth a look?
I tried the shades as well as the teak dial AT. The teak version looks really nice on computer. When I tired in on, the dial/glass is very reflective (one cannot notice that on your video). The shade looks very nice on hand. The bracelet is like the Rolex day date watch. All in all, the shade looks better for me.
Thanks for this video mate! I am so torn between 38 and 41. I love the green and how unique it is. But the 38 works much better on my wrist. I might hold off a few more months to see if they get in the new green 38 in ADs. I haven’t seen them arrive yet here in Toronto.
I think the 38 looks perfect on you. It really is a beautiful watch which is definitely on my radar too. It's a shame they don't do the terracotta with horizontal stripes.
I’m currently looking for the 38 white or blue dial in the leather strap option in the gray market, but I wish Omega could’ve fitted the 8900 in the 38 case…
Great comparison - the Aqua Terra range of watches really stand out to me. The green dial would be my preference, though I agree it seems Omega could offer it in the smaller case size. I do tend to wear larger watches, at 42mm and 44mm, but feel a 38mm would make a great daily watch.
Hi, thanks for the review! Now they do the green in 38mm 🎉 One question - have you considered the 41mm with small seconds - the dial definitely does not seem big on my 16.5 inch wrist. Yes, the physical size is same as 41mm central second hand but the dial is absolutely fine with the visually smaller central s3ction of the dial and the small seconds dial. Thanks!
Nice but think you should consider the 40mm de ville tresor with the glass case back so you can see the wonderful manual movement without the rotor blocking it
I decided on the 41mm for two reasons, the more accurate 8900 double barrel movement and the fact most of my watches are between 40 to 42mm. The 38mm felt more balanced but for the same price the movement did it for me.
- I completely agree. I found the 38mm Aqua Terra looked best on my wrist too especially given the fact it’s a polished dressier looking sports watch along the lines of a DateJust.
Hi, The Aqua Terra would be my choice if I could only own one luxury watch. However, I don’t like the polished centre links of the bracelet. I would prefer a fully brushed one. I’ve got a 18.5cm wrist which is about 54mm broad. So, I could wear both sizes quite well. I like the smaller size a bit better because it looks even better on my wrist. But I wanted the calibre 8900 because of its jumping hour hand. And I would like to wear the watch on a leather or rubber strap as well. But 19mm isn’t an ideal strap size. And therefore I would pick the 41mm on the Omega rubber strap with an additional premium leather strap as well. Best regards, Claus
I bought the blue dial in 2023 for $6200. I found it top heavy, no micro adjustments poor lume crown hard to work with, and I changed the strap to a Artem sailcloth which made it lighter. I then got the call from AD for Rolex submariner Starbucks and that watch did not have any of those issues my Omega had.

Maybe Andy you should take a look at the New Tudor Black Bay 39mm on the 5 link bracelet. My current wrist watch check is the 41mm Green Aqua Terra on black rubber with deployment clasp. Keep the Great content flowing my friend & good to see a respectful community on here 👍👏
Well, since I'm 6'5" with a 9 1/2 inch wrist, it wasn't a hard decision if I was going to get the larger watch. Now if I can just find a shoe store that has any size 15 shoes in stock.
Great post Andy, thanks. I love my 38mm AT and it fits my 6.75” wrist well BUT the bracelet does have a slightly annoying lack of flex (see it at 6:03 in your video) caused by one side of the clasp. Doesn’t stop my enjoyment but worth getting the best possible fit if you get one. Maybe less of an issue if you wear it a bit looser though?
Wish I could get my hands on a 38 to do a comparison. I can wear the 41, but it looks bigger than what I want it to. Course I don't think the 36 Explorer looks bad on my wrist either, can't seem to get my hands on one of those to buy either though, so we'll see. Thanks for the vid, I do think the 38 would be better for me, but agree with your comments on the movement comparison w/ the 300.
I was interested in the Saffron 38 model but the price increases just caused my interest to wane. Maybe a secondhand model once they work their way through the retail buyers.
I do wonder why Omega’s product ranges are so complex and seemingly overlapping. It strikes me that in this case (pardon the pun) a 39.5mm diameter model in all the dial colours would easily substitute for both 38mm and 41mm models, which in turn would be more efficient and profitable for Omega (these are after all about twice the SRP of a BB, so far from vfm anyway), as well as giving purchasers the availability they desire. Win-win. Or am I missing something? 🤔
Love the 41mm, but as always it is down to the lug to lug distance. I’m an Omega fan anyway and this could be one for the shopping list. Great video by the way😊.
Probably my ultimate "everyday" watch but the price seems insane to me. I remember when these were somewhere between £2,000 - £3,000, but now I'm in a position to spend that sort of money I've been priced out.
None, I go for the rare 43mm Aqua Terra GMT 231.10.43.22.03.001 💪🏽😤 lol, I hope Omega gets back at this model and make more color dial variations, specially a green one 🤞🏽.
It seems that all the Watch brand prices have been rising frequently and regularly. At the moment Tudor seem to be then only brand that are offering real bang for your buck. Soon a Rolex Sub will be costing 10k retail. I am after a chronograph. I have my name on the Tudor panda white dial version. It’s been at least 1 year and a half since I done this. Not owned a Tudor before and thought with my spend history I would get this far quicker, considering I have purchased 3 Rolex models retail with the AD. But it seems that they don’t get many at all. Anyway looking at the omega speed master sapphire sandwich chronograph. I remember when you could pick one of these up for £3000. They are now retail over £7000. The older version came with better box and accessories. I think I prefer the one that was discontinued more. I suppose as it’s an iconic model that’s why the price has shot up.
41 > 38 > (can’t believe I’m about to say this) quartz > new model 38. Does the 38 sit better on your wrist than the 41? Yes. But, we’re talking about A vs. A-, not some huge aesthetic disparity. In contrast, I cannot get past the significant differences in specs of the 41 vs. the 38. All AT’s strike me as WAY overpriced at MSRP. But to price the mechanically inferior 38 the same as the 41 borders on unconscionable.
Thank you for the video. The 38 mm is a movement downgrade. It has the 8800 instead of the wonderful 8900. In my opinion it is not worth it except if one wants the colorful dials ot has a thin wrist.
I disagree. I think the 8800 is the better movement and I've owned both. The 8800 is thinner and the quick set date is FAR superior to the jump hour hand. The 5 hour difference in power reserve would never be noticed in real life.
40 mm would be the perfect size for this watch .. 41 is too big and 38 is too small ... But if you have to choose between 41 mm and 38 mm having as a reference point the 40 mm, you should always go with the 41 mm ... Beter have it bigger than smaller
38 all day long. For a three hander to be over 39mm, it has to seriously justify the size with thoughtful design (so neither Omega or Rolex). Dive watches, chronos, yes - they justify their size, but a simple >40mm three hander will wear far bigger than even a 42mm diver/chrono. Ie gawping. Big difference between what sells to blokes in a jewellers (always bigger) and what is a good design proportion. I'm 6'2, 85Kg, 18cm wrists and wouldn't go near a DJ41 with a barge pole! 36 all day. Classic. I'd say 34 is massive for most women (my wife's 31s wear similar to my 38s...), unless they wear it like a bangle...
Take your build and height into consideration. The 38 looks perfectly sized for you. I’m 6’3” and 15 odd stone and, say, my 41 Datejust fits me perfectly and looks proportional in a full length mirror. It’s weird how they go 38 then 41 almost in a his and hers offering. Already the red dial 38 is in high artificial demand. Omega here doing a Rolex. Release in reduced numbers then discontinue to hype secondary prices and get interest going in the brand. As a business model this sucks. I was asked if I’d like to be put on a waiting list, yes for an Omega, and I left the shop laughing in their face. Omega will never give you the same feel as Rolex but makes for a perfect daily beater that you don’t care if it gets scratched up so much. As for expression of interest Omega can do one. Even Tudor trying this bull for selected models. The watch game is a joke these days.
Plus - no bracelet adjustment. That’s a deal breaker. Simple as that. Been there done that. Unless you like them permanently loose flopping about. Shudder.
AT fantastic good looking watch, but you have one already the perfect watch 39 mm and 11 mm thick. You pay more for AT than Seamaster 300, some will say Seamaster 300 give more value for the money. I have large issue with Omega thickness. Other watch brands can make it under 12 mm thick automatics watches. AT is for me a dress watch and should not be thick. for you 38 is good looking for me 17,5 it to small and 41 AT is to present for a dress watch. AT is not a complicated watch. Time and date, but 13 mm thick is a joke for 41mm. If they made the 39 mm with under 12 mm i will be there

Love the 41 side by side- but on the wrist 38 all the way. I bought it in Summer Blue - it is quite blingy, tho
Man, what a great watch! Hard choice between the new Shades AT and the 'old' AT.... If I had the budget I would add both for sure!
Now they do the green in 38mm 🎉
One question - have you considered the 41mm with small seconds - the dial definitely does not seem big on my 16.5 inch wrist. Yes, the physical size is same as 41mm central second hand but the dial is absolutely fine with the visually smaller central s3ction of the dial and the small seconds dial. Thanks!
Yes - I do like some of the variation with the small seconds.
Nice but think you should consider the 40mm de ville tresor with the glass case back so you can see the wonderful manual movement without the rotor blocking it
They make the 38mm with the green teak dial now so no need to compromise on that anymore.
I decided on the 41mm for two reasons, the more accurate 8900 double barrel movement and the fact most of my watches are between 40 to 42mm. The 38mm felt more balanced but for the same price the movement did it for me.
Great channel name! First time subscriber.
I have very similar collection to you and I went for the 38mm on my 7 inch wrist and it’s perfect size with the lack of that dive bezel
how big is the bracelet on this new 38mm aqua terra? big enough for an 8" wrist?

Hi,
The Aqua Terra would be my choice if I could only own one luxury watch.

Pick a color and wear it a lifetime.
Great video, thanks!
The new bracelet on the shades is MILES better than the "teak deck" aqua terra. Tried both on and its night and day!
I like them both! Would go with the 41mm though

Or am I missing something? 🤔
No you’re not. 100% agree.
Love the 41mm, but as always it is down to the lug to lug distance. I’m an Omega fan anyway and this could be one for the shopping list. Great video by the way😊.
i think you can swap the bracelet with railmaster all brushed bracelet
Qual o valor ?
Probably my ultimate "everyday" watch but the price seems insane to me. I remember when these were somewhere between £2,000 - £3,000, but now I'm in a position to spend that sort of money I've been priced out.
38 by a contry mile. The lack of bezel means this watch is all dial, so 41mm looks huge, in addition to being heavier and thicker.
Hi Andy, what is your wristsize?
6 3/4”
@@TheEnglishWatch thank you, exact the same as mine!! So 38 it will be.
What is your wrist size mate?
6.75” / 170mm
What's your wrist size please Sir ?
6.75”
@@TheEnglishWatch thanks !
You won’t regret the Speedy. Yes, it’s more expensive now, but you get a lot of relative value compared to others priced similarly.
The elusive 38mm AT in Terra Cotta
41 > 38 > (can’t believe I’m about to say this) quartz > new model 38.
Does the 38 sit better on your wrist than the 41? Yes. But, we’re talking about A vs. A-, not some huge aesthetic disparity.
In contrast, I cannot get past the significant differences in specs of the 41 vs. the 38. All AT’s strike me as WAY overpriced at MSRP. But to price the mechanically inferior 38 the same as the 41 borders on unconscionable.
If you love the green dial, it might be worth waiting for a bit - Omega could release a 38mm with the green dial.
Yikes! Never realized there was such a price disparity between the Aquaterra and 300M.
i do like the under rated Railmaster
Thank you for the video. The 38 mm is a movement downgrade. It has the 8800 instead of the wonderful 8900. In my opinion it is not worth it except if one wants the colorful dials ot has a thin wrist.
I disagree. I think the 8800 is the better movement and I've owned both. The 8800 is thinner and the quick set date is FAR superior to the jump hour hand. The 5 hour difference in power reserve would never be noticed in real life.
I hope that one day a 36/37 nodate will be launched
I want that red 38mm in a 41. I'd buy it today.
40 mm would be the perfect size for this watch .. 41 is too big and 38 is too small ... But if you have to choose between 41 mm and 38 mm having as a reference point the 40 mm, you should always go with the 41 mm ... Beter have it bigger than smaller
I'm thinking of buying this watch ⌚
38mm def looks better on your wrist. I actually think on looks the quartz comes out top though.
I tried an Aqua Terra at the AD I was disappointed, too shiny or blingy in the flesh.
Buy the 41.
It has more presence on the wrist.
THE END
Go for the 41 please, small watch make you feel like a little girl and big men use bigger watches
Lol
Not having quick adjustment on this watches is a big let down and that’s why they are sitting at the Omega store and no one want them.
The shades range actually sells well. Many stores were out of stock for ages.
38 for my Wife Saffron colorway and 41 for Me Terracota colorway
Shudder.
The 41mm.
Aqua Terra is a beautiful watch….just not £5800 beautiful 😬
datejust 41 is actually 39 mm
Smaller looks classier
Should be a 40mm or 39mm only. 38mm to me is too small to be a true man’s watch and 41mm might be just a little too big for a dial only watch.
The bracelet keeps me from purchasing this.
If they made the 39 mm with under 12 mm i will be there
What’s your wrist size?
6.75” / 170mm
38mm looks the best in my opinion.
Its so simple for me. I have a 6 inch wrist. 38mm is normal on it, 41mm is not.
