  • Police say a Fletcher woman is mauled by a pair of Great Danes and is now fighting to stay alive.
Police say the animals belong to the victim's relatives who live nearby. Officials say the woman entered the animals kennel, and was viciously attacked. It happened just before 9:30 Monday morning. Fletcher police say 58-year-old Gail Lanning was attacked by two Great Danes in a fenced-in yard off Poteat Street Extension. Police say a neighbor saw the attack occurring, and called 911. When officers arrived, the dogs were no longer attacking and Lanning was found lying on the ground. She was taken to Mission Hospital.
They were serious injuries that she sustained from the dog attack, says Chief Erik Summey of Fletcher Police.
The two dogs involved are currently quarantined at the Henderson County Animal Shelter. At last check, the victim was in critical condition.

uraprettykitty Yes they do. I had one attack me last week while I was walking down the road in my neighborhood. Luckily, he didn't bite my skin, but he put two holes in the back of my shoe and caused me fall to the ground and scrape my hands and knees on the pavement.

Yes, even a breed known to be a "gentle" giant can and will be aggressive without the proper training. People have to remember they're dogs first before they're domesticated pets.

They're beautiful dogs I hope like hell they don't put them down considering they were in their kennel and in their fence if the dogs don't know you well enough to care for him then you shouldn't be f****** messing with them

1:08 the small one is the one that supposedly attacked. Looks like a mix breed. Also from what it sounds like, the caretaker/victim wasn’t sound enough to give them care. From the looks of it, those dogs were probably kept outside in a cage 24/7. .

No wonder a GreatDane especial shouldn't feel enclosed in a cage it should have at least more room they are considered "very large" dog breed it isn't right even if it was a shelter to put them in a cage a lot of GreatDanes get closterphobic...

People should know about breeds " first they are animals" then they are breed, the. They are name . first of every dog needs proper training , from a Chihuahua, to a Great Dane , and their needs, especially Danes , you can't grow them in a cage , breed them when a female is in heat , and just give them water and food , then sell the puppies , the way these Danes were kept is wrong , and I would really want to know the whole story behind it. Its sad , that these beautiful dogs probably gonna end up in the green mile :( because another so called "breeder" did not trained them , and kept them close . they are Velcro dogs they need to be beside their humans ! And as you can see in the video , the female just finished with a litter . :(
