Fun fact: His heart is not significantly bigger than a usual dog's heart. The differences between breed's organs are nowhere rational to the differences in the size of the skeleton. For example, Chihuahua's brain and eyes are too big, Great Dane's heart is too small. Even thought the body tries to compensate this in various ways, his heart will always be too weak. It will be damaged pretty soon due to the pressure. This is why he has no stamina at all and won't live longer than 10 years (Which would be the ideal maximum). Dogs of moderate size live 12-16 years, smaller dogs will live longer. This is an edit to state my point in a better way. 🐾
@@none_o_ur_bidnis They're wrong about the size but this breed has a lot of heart issues and they're called the "heart break breed" because of it. They're also right about the short lifespan. Most Great Danes don't live past 8 -10 years old.
we just got a Dane and I love him so much. they are the sweetest! Ours is a "mini" Dane, kinda the runt of the litter at 110 lbs. He has a birth defect in his front right paw so its way shorter than the others and he doesn't have a real ankle, paw, toe or paw pads. He requires special wrapping every day to protect it and a prosthetic to get around. but we dont mind the work because he brings extra happiness because he knows we take care of him. His name is Nemo because why wouldn't it be. He makes everyone he sees happy... unless he gives you a great dane punch with his prosthetic, then you're not as happy lol
Mine was like that too. I think it’s common in American breed Great Danes, which mine is of as well. The American breeds are crossed with Grey Hounds, which is what gives them that shape. The chest becomes less pronounced as he’s started to fill out (he’s 4 yrs old now). I think Zeus is just 2 yrs old in this video, and that’s about the time they stop growing vertically and start growing horizontally, which is when he’d start to fill out too.
Yeah and he looks severely underweight. Probably eating some bad cheapo food like Iams or Purina too.. they lack nutrition in the first place.. Danes are super expensive to feed. He probably requires twice the daily intake of a human in calories.
@@VARY78 lol you must be blind, this dog is quite skinny so clearly he doesn't weigh that much and is lazy, he is probably no more than 165 pounds so all he needs is around 2500 calories a day, about the same as an average man.
@kyle he does eat about 12 cups of food a day. 6 in the morning and 6 in the evening. He doesn’t always finish it all though. I’m his momma, so I know 😊
I’ve worked with great danes. Oh my gosh. The only time they are ever “unruly” if that is even the right word, is when they are recovering from anesthesia, and they can’t help it at that point. Beautiful, if not a bit smelly, dogs.
Respect to the woman for not listening to the others and treated her dog with love and dignity as one of her family member, by not riding him like a horse. She is right, Zeus is a dog, not a horse, just because he’s big, he’s still a dog.
My Great Dane is Gunner. He’s 38” tall at the top of his shoulders. Just wondering how tall is Zeus at the shoulder. Gunner is the love of my life and my best friend to boot! Dane’s are the best dogs. He’s very understanding, highly intelligent and has such a huge heart.

Really big dog. 220 freaking lbs cool. But on the note of big dogs lifespan i've heard bigger dogs have a shorter lifespan than small dogs. Generally speaking. I wonder why that is. Anyone know why?
@@martinberglund1065 they grow faster than small dogs that trigger tumors and other diseases, why? growing fast means many cells and many cells means many cells die. Cancer cells are like cells that refuse to die
@@martinberglund1065 this is just my guess, but i believe that due to their size they carry heart issues and other health conditions which shortens their lifespan
@@exzendalami8820 Makes total sense. Tnx for explaining. Me being a Goo of emotion i feel It's such a shame their size or rather quick and explosive growth resulting in an increase of cellgrowth/death makes these big magnificent dogs prone to cancer and other health problems. Meanwhile the little bark monsters live way longer, generally speaking of course. Small ones are cute too though don't misunderstand ☺️
I saw that you like in Keller, TX? (From your husband's t-shirt.) We live in Weatherford, and we adopted Gantu in Dallas last August (was on the DFW Danes site). It’s sad they have a short live span…..I have a friend who rescues Dane’s and it breaks her heart every time they pass.
Not true. That's ridiculous.
@@none_o_ur_bidnis They're wrong about the size but this breed has a lot of heart issues and they're called the "heart break breed" because of it. They're also right about the short lifespan. Most Great Danes don't live past 8 -10 years old.
@@dangerbirb4981 the claim about the size is what I was referring to.
Most dogs live 10 years
Minus mine that ended up living only 3 years. Cancer took him.
My Dane was 11, but I was very blessed.
When a dog is taller than you: *Sad short noises*
If you look closer, the hooman is just too small.
He looks so animated and cartoonish due to his size 😲 hope zues lives a long, happy and healthy life
He’s so cool. If I could I’d love an opportunity to meet him someday
Enjoyed watching your enriching content
I also have a Great dane named Maximus and people always ask me If it's a horse.
Same! Mine has the same name! He’s a tuxedo though. What yours like?
I’m not gonna lie if I woke up in the middle of the night and I saw Zeus walking around in the dark. I’d have a panic attack.
we just got a Dane and I love him so much. they are the sweetest!
Aww i love this! My family used to have a great dane and they are wonderful dogs! I miss you Shilo ❤️
What a beautiful little boy. I miss mine everyday.
Mine is almost 14. Honestly i don't wanna go through what you're going through
I'm so sorry u lost ur doggie it must be very sad hope u get another one soon ❤👍🏻
Fr it hurts so bad when you lose your pet 😪
Is that chest structure normal in Great Danes or more pronounced in Zeus because of his height?
Yeah, it’s more pronounced in him then in most Danes
Chest looks normal to me, proportional to his size.
I thouht the same!
I watch videos of Cash 2.0, he is also a large great dane, but his chest isn't like that. 🤔
You are correct! He’s a 2 year old anerucan Great Dane. They have larger chests. He’ll start growing out soon ☺️
Aww I love that big dogs like this think they are small and chihuahua's are so full of attitude.
When he turns 18 the family is the one which moves out
I've never saw this kind of horse before, he's adorable
Great Danes are by far one of my favorite dogs! Zeus is beautiful.
Our Dane is Tucker... Hes our big boy at 3 ft 2 inches but more european and thick. They are the best most loving dogs!
Of course you should've named him tiny.
Looks like VFX edited btw amazing 👍🏻
Great danes are defenition of a gentle giant
He is truly a wonderful animal. And he has a great family.
He's so graceful!
I miss my Great Dane. Abby had the same spots and colors as Mr. Zeus.
The amount of food needed to feed that dog is probably more than what the family is eating.
What a rude thing to say. And no we don’t buy cheap food. He’s a BABY- only two. They grow until they are 3. We spend about $100-150 on for a month.
@kyle he does eat about 12 cups of food a day. 6 in the morning and 6 in the evening. He doesn’t always finish it all though. I’m his momma, so I know 😊
@@brittanydavis8304 how much does he weigh? How many calories a day does he eat?
I’ve worked with great danes. Oh my gosh. The only time they are ever “unruly” if that is even the right word, is when they are recovering from anesthesia, and they can’t help it at that point. Beautiful, if not a bit smelly, dogs.
I just love this video and story and this dog and this family.
There family is awesome. I was lucky to have her husband as my hockey coach this year and they are amazing people
I remember when i was 10 years old, i could get curious to see how the tallest dog would look
I'm really looking forward to this interview.
Sadly Great Dane’s have short lifespans…Their hearts are just too small to support such a huge frame.
The so called heartbreak breeds like boxers :(
yea :(
You can clear see this great dane is more tired/lazy than others
i thought danes had big hearts?
That boi is BIG
Rip Zeus 😢
he died already??
@@allysonrose4661 Great Danes don’t live for that long, most big dog breeds don’t because of their heart problems.
That is my teacher! Im so glad to see you teacher from last may 23! This is from anaya and i like your dog so much!
1:13 That baby is fascinated by Zeus 😂😂 adorable.
"He loves to walk around the neighbourhood"
Sheldon Cooper, Ph.D who just happens to live nearby: "I'm going to write a *strongly* worded letter to the dog owner, strongly worded indeed."
We had a giant dog growing up. He was 220lbs. I would ride him like a horse when I was 3-4 years old and my parents weren’t looking lol. He only lived to be 7
Really big dog.
@@mabelameba Makes sense i think that sounds reasonable. Sad though. Their big size makes them both magnificent but prone to short lifespan.
Small ones are cute too though don't misunderstand ☺️
i’d love to see him on a walk with cash 2.0 😭 imagine two big dogs out on a walk 😭
That's a full grown man he should pay his rent and get his drivers licence
Rest in Peace Zeus💐💐
What a friendly giant!
Amazing dog
Look how big this dog is
He's probably a nice dog, but if I saw him walking towards me at night, I'd probably have a heart attack.
He’s so big they should breed him for sure
Rest in heaven Zeus😢😢
Now that's a beautiful horse.
A barking horse.
Lol
What devious tomfoolery is the common household dog performing?
I’m liking this comment purely for the exhibition of writing techniques.
I would name him Tiny Tim.
@@stephensaltau6481 I would name him Scooby doo.
I saw that you like in Keller, TX? (From your husband's t-shirt.) We live in Weatherford, and we adopted Gantu in Dallas last August (was on the DFW Danes site). Gantu is 3 inches taller than my late Osborne (assed from cancer in Jun 2022), but Zeus seems bigger than Gantu. Wow! Hope to meet Zeus one day.
PS---Both of my Danes are Merles, as well.
Nice name for the dog lol
indeed
what da dog doin 🤨
The downside is dogs that big simply don't live very long. Enjoy him while you have him.
I can only imagine his monthly food expense. Lol. Never mind the other end of it........
😂😂😂
If he eats just regular dog food it would be less than $100 a month.
"his water bowl is the sink"
Alright, now teach him to do the dishes then I'll be impressed.
Cant fool me lady, thats a pony.
The last GBOWR Tallest Dog dane named Zeus died of natural causes at age 5. These huge dogs often don’t live long.. some breeds have life expectancies of 8 or under. He’s very impressive and very sweet but I don’t think I’d want people to see this kind of massive size as desirable 😕
Thanks for your concern but his parents are 8 and 11. He’ll be just fine!
I have a giant rottweiler too. I'm 5'3 and he's probably like as tall as my abdomen. However, his first name was so cute. Sprinkles or Mochi. Then, my parents changed it to "Spike" cuz they said it was ridiculous.
on his hindlegs he's over 7 feet tall, he'd tower over 99.9% of humans
