Welcome back for another Game of Thrones: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms video. In this video, I will be talking about HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. This new Game of Thrones Prequel Series is based on George R.R. Martin's three novellas, about Dunk and Egg. A century before the events of Game of Thrones, there was Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. Executive produced by George R.R. Martin, Ira Parker, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has received a straight to series order. HBO has already begun casting this series. Casting director, Lucy Bevan, posted a message on her social media, looking for actors for HBO's lead roles in their upcoming series. Let me know what you think down below. Thanks for watching!

HBO trying to be like Disney and milk as much of its IPs as possible. This show is not going to fair well and I predict 1/4th the viewers as HotD which is already a bomb in REALITY outside of the shill media. You have to look outside of mainstream for the numbers they downplay. Its basically going to be like Ahsoka and the last MCU series, barely able to stay above 1 million because HBO is shortsighted.
They should have gone with something fans of Game of Thrones would have actually held an interest in seeing. Either a story about the time the White Walkers were created or a sequel series to show what happens to Jon, Sansa, Arya, Bran and the other surviving characters.
Oh good, I was worried that GRRM was going to have to work on WINDS but its nice to see that he has more important things to work on.
I'm extremely excited about the Dunk and Egg show. The 3 novellas are just amazing, definitely some of the best stories I've ever read. Now hearing HBO is turning it into a tv show is dream coming true for me ❤

What is up with the episode count for these seasons? It use to be 12-22 episodes back in the early 2000s. Now everything’s 6-10 episodes per season….. wtf
Budget, inflation, recession, 2020, the writers/actors strike, maybe? This show was filmed 2011-2019. Life was so unbelievably different back then.
For dunk and egg their isn’t much source material so good luck getting 20 episodes out of it

I remember when there were 28! New series had 13 and they actually ran them all, even if the series was not picked up for a second season!
I 2nd this question. At minimum it has to be 10-13 but I'd prefer more.
Dunk and Egg is so good. There are so many tidbits that make a lot more sense if you are familiar with the lore of the series. The third book was also masterfully written, it took me three reads before realizing the hidden meanings and easter eggs that Martin has written.
Many people will say Henry Cavill for Duncan and i do agree he would be a great choice, i think Will poulter is better because Duncan is very young in the first book. and now after Guardians 3 Will is built for the role
As someone who read A game of thrones at the age of 16 , now 43 ..i don't care anymore, I sung this writer's praises but the hard lesson I have learnt is that starting a story no matter how great that start is means nothing if you only barely get past the halfway point throughout many decade's.Just let it die already.

Martin just does not care. Dunk and Egg are side projects same as all his pseudohistorical books about Westeros are. Meanwhile ASOIAF remains unfinished, same as it were in 2011. But, HBO will not be milking that cow for long.
I'de love to see Karl Urban in Westeros. He would kill it as any charcter in GRRM's world. If they wont let him be the new Logan, Let him be Dunk.

I'll always follow your channel my friend. But banking on George to write just isn't an obtainable goal anymore (hasn't been for a long time) but i would love a limited series based off the material we have, even though there will be no end game.

People want Aegon's Conquest, Doom of Valyria, The Long Night, Robert's Rebellion, and the Jon Snow show where Kinvara resurrects Dany.

I think they might gonna do aegon the conquest after hotd, two main shows in once is too expansive and it should be only one by time. And valyria has no solid material to work with. We know they begging and they end, but nothing more. Would be hard have somenthing good out of this when the writer himself hasn't explore it. Dunk and egg is a good history with book to be based on, which is very good, and it will not took the audience from hotd, only complemet it

Have to point out thats way too long for a plug of a sponsor. The writers/actors isn't ending, it maybe making headway but its far from over. HBO/WB/DIS by law cant be looking for casting for any GOT content because they currently dont have the rights to do so. Martin hasn't lifted his contract suspension with HBO as of this moment. This person on socials thats says shes the casting dir is creating false claims, you are reporting on those false claims. Ive know doubt there maybe something GOT related in the far future but it isnt now, Martin & HBO have to reach an agreement on the existing contract plus a new one after the strike is over before HBO can do anything GOT related.

The Game Of Thrones shows operate under the U.K.'s system. It is not affected by the strikes. That is how season 2 of House Of The Dragon completed production over the summer.

I'm surprised that there's an 'announcement' about 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' first. Not that there isn't excitement about this series, but I get the impression that there's more excitement about 'Snow', and yes, everyone has been trying to keep 'Snow' under wraps, which is why nothing has been 'officially' mentioned yet. It'll be interesting to hear what gets announced next... 😇🙏
This is why GRRM cant finish anything! Because he's always messing with these shows!! I think its great that were getting another show! But these things take a long while before it ever comes out, if it does! Were probably looking at 2025 or 2026! That's too far out to get excited about anything! I want him to finish his frigging BOOK!
For a second I got frustrated that Tim Cham got cast for AKOSK.
I’m excited for more Got shows, but if we want to have George oversee the new shows, he needs to let someone else finish Winds of Winter or Dream of Spring. People are losing hope for even Winds at this point because it’s taken so long and even though George says that he’s over 3/4ths of the way done with it now, I really don’t think he feels much love in finishing the series himself because the main story points have already been told. With the other novellas and stories coming out in the universe though, I feel he would just enjoy doing that more at this point because the shows haven’t caught up to him.

The Dunk and Egg stories are my favorite things GRRM ever wrote but I don’t understand how they’ll turn that first novella into an entire season. Seems like two episodes max. Also can’t wait to see who they cast for Dunk. That’s a tough one to find.

Duncan isn't "any ethnicity", he's also white. They are already planning to force diversity not in accordance to the books/novels and to the canon as established by George. They've done it in HOTD with the Velaryons but it could have been excused somewhat due to their unique characteristics as sailors and traders, their travels in certain places and their origin in Essos. But here, what is the excuse? The official graphic novels already established how he should look like.
What would change narratively if Duncan was black?
If it isn't apart of the story the race of the actor playing the character doesn't matter. This is an artistic representation of a work of high fantasy not a recreation of an historical event. He doesn't have to be white.
Any ethnicity also means that the actor could be white.
Regardless, Im sure they will be able to choose a very talented actor for this major role.

Love the novellas, but I do have some concerns for this show.
1. Theyre unfinished and while it should be quick to write more, George's actually taken longer on these than he has Winds of Winter
2. Im not sure an entire season needs to be dedicated to each novella. They really should be more "episodic" probably 2-4 episodes per storyline. I just think 6 episodes would have a lot more filler than is needed
Hopefully theyll get it right though, if George can publish more stories and they can nail the pacing, I'm totally down and excited for it. Really charming and fun tale in the GoT/ASOIAF universe
More like 6 episodes of 40 mins each not to forget there are fights like the Trial of the Seven so they might show most of those fights... I think 6 episodes or 4 hrs of screen time is optimum anything more or less would not have gone down well

Lmao HOTD ending was the most watched ever for HBO. So basically super duper hit.

They started to combine the shows ratings with streams when the show lost over 80% of its viewers and 2 different companies showed that the streaming numbers were falsified. HBO even had to apologize to its shareholders.
Them and Disney, the only two companies to be so publicly shamed they had to address their own shareholders.
That's making assumptions no one wants to see Dunkin and Eggs story. I enjoyed the book and I'm sure there are plenty of others looking forward to this.

Its Aegon V... not Aegon IV as the person said. The story happens during the reign of Maekar I, granson of Aegon IV and son of Daeron II.
Maekar has a son called Aegon who would become Aegon V, brother to maester Aemon. The last great and good king of Westeros before Daenerys.

@@HardHatEugeneI’m assuming you haven’t read the books Duncan the tall and Aegon V have a huge impact on the modern timeline. Duncan’s trial means Baelor breakspear doesn’t sit on the iron thrown meaning the Targaryen succession plays out completely differently. Dunk also saves rhaegar and Aerys during the tragedy at summer hall, no Duncan no Robert’s rebellion, no Robert’s rebellion.
