Change the Windows power plan to high-performance using Windows Mobility Center believe me, your fps drops and stutter issues will instantly disappear and you'll have a much improved experience. Also please share this info with others as they may not know to do this and have these issues with there new laptop. 😆
Do you think it will lower down the CPU temp? The CPU temp goes above 90c when gaming, and I am just playing GTA FiveM. Kind of a bit worried right now lol.

I would really appreciate a test and tutorial on repasting and on a laptop cooler and how much of a difference this would make - also how much of a boost the 16 GB of RAM would bring, thats propably interesting for many people out there stuck with low RAM on a laptop :) You also mentioned Throttle Stop and another program to limit power consumption and temperatures, maybe this could be included in the vid aswell? This would be like a general "upgrade your laptop" video - I would totally watch and spread this, if you decide to make it :) As a funfact though: In Europe this laptop is only sold with 16GB of RAM - I don´t understand the 8 GB version at all :D

@@nexus0130 the process is very easy. Take the back cover off, then once you have the cpu/gpu cooler assembly visible, disconnect the battery then unscrew the 12 screws that hold the cpu/gpu cooler. Once you unscrewed, you can flip the assembly and rest it ln the battery. The fan cables are long enough for this, no need to disconnect. Just carefully handle it. Once flipped, clean the old paste. Use toilet towels/paper and white alcohol. Just damp the paper and slowly work the paste off the chips and cooler plates. Do not touch the thermal pads. Leave them alone, don't finger touch them, grease and dirt will transfer from your fingers. Once cleaned, apply a quality thermal paste. I found that spreading thin and then adding a bit of thermal paste in the middle, works best. The spread ensures all area is covered and the middle rice drop ensures that no airgap is stuck between the plate and cpu/gpu. Reassemble using the numbered pattern. Don't over tighten the screws. Same for the cover. Don't be a barbarian, be gentle, feel the screw when in and don't force it, otherwise you will strip either the screw or or the nut/cover leg. Once done, reconnect the battery and start and test before closing the plastic cover. When you turn the laptop over, don't sit it above screws or tools that could short the board. If it starts and initial numbers look fine, close it. Again, low pressure on the cover screws, so you won't strip the threads or sitting legs.
The same laptop (literally same specs) in my country comes with 2x8 GB RAM 3200mhz for the same price! I think it’s a great deal and I am planning to buy it this month.
When getting this notebook, it's important to get the latest bios version installed. Mine came with "FB01" and it had some stuttering issues and got pretty loud. They optimized the power limits and fan curves with version "FB03" a lot. In power savings mode it can play simple(!) games for up to 3hrs on battery, too. It's pretty much passively cooled at this point at a room temperature of ~20°C. I'm very happy with this notebook now (it came with 16gb of RAM). It's a great deal imo.
Mine has an i7 16gb of ram with a 4060 i think its even ddr5 if im not mistaken yes mine came with 8gb sticks in it at 4800mhz 512gb storage with an i7 12650h

Brother in christ 8GB of ram in a 2023 laptop especially with those specs is a literal war crime the laptop is chugging because it's constantly running out of RAM and uses disk pagefile instead. Buy it a proper 16GB jedec ram kit and you will see a world of difference

@@Ace_Saan It's worth what I paid. If you run an FPS at 2k rez you will need a laptop cooler. I bought one for $12 and it works fine. I hung a 32" monitor on it. The laptop screen is OK but I would not use it for gaming. It's fine for other stuff.

I just ordered a new 230w charger in order to validate if it works. I buy a MX4 thermal paste, im planning change the paste but i dont know when. Hi, I need a decent battery life and semi portability for a backpack, of reasonable size. I’m thinking of getting either the G18 or the Alienware M16. Which one does better over all? In a previous comparison you didn’t know the temps of either but you guessed the G18 would have better temps, which laptop is overall better which would you recommend and why?
I think about buying a compatible voltage PSU of 200 watts or 240 watts to reduce PSU heat (and may give extra juice to the laptop) + A surge protector + Limit the CPU voltage with intel XTU to reduce the throttling (with buying this laptop). What do you think about this idea?
Awesome review. Out of the box it overheats and shuts off. After 10 minutes in the refrigerator it will work again. CPU is locked so Throttlestop and Intel XTU won't work. However, using MSi Afterburner and a decent cooling pad I am able to bring CPU temp down to 75-80c and GPU temp down to 65-70c with no decrease in performance. The sweet spot for my setup is 800mV @ 2100 GHz. Using Unigine Heaven as a benchmark I was able to increase the score to 5573. Note: This is on a triple monitor setup using the minidisplay port to DP and HDMI with the laptop display off and backlight, camera, touchpad disabled. Typically when a laptop overheats, it should just throttle the performance to lower the temps. If it is shutting off entirely, I would recommend returning for a replacement because sometimes you simply won’t have your cooling pad with you.
I need help finding a good gaming laptop for myself. My price range is $1000-$2000, and I only play games such as Dawn of War 2, Company of Heroes, and Sons of The Forest. I was looking into getting a ROG Strix g18 but I feel like it will be over kill for what im going to be playing. Hi, I just got this G5 KF laptop today and my cinebench results are low in comparison around 10,000. It only runs at full power at 4.2ghz on P cores for a few seconds then drops to 45W and 1.5ghz. Temps are low around 60-70C when the power drops. Do you think my laptop might be faulty or if perhaps Gigabyte changed how it performs in order to reduce temps? I am in Best/High Performance mode in power settings.

Would a laptop CPU boost at all times if the cooling would be better with GPU load? Like 175W on GPU and around 100 depending on CPU? Or is it always limited by the BIOS? I'm between 2023 and 2022 Legion 5/7 Pro. Can somebody tell me how stable is the 4000 series GPU on Linux like the kUbuntu daily build. The 4nm would work better for battery life. I would use it for Blender rendering, web browsing.
Anyone facing the problem using the second ssd slot? Most of the time it disappears or halt. Even i have tride to swap the main ssd with that, same happend for the main ssd as well whenever connected to the secong slot.

@@viliuspra0314 tbh this is kinda strange. Sometimes it cuts off power and sometimes does not. Entertainment mode limits a little bit the performance but nothing too crazy. The laptop is a good deal in my oppinion. Only bad thing is the cpu temp, and the power addapter. Everything else works fine. Also I have 16 gigs of RAM, it is needed and works incredibly fine.

Hi I bought this laptop few days a go and I got some performance issues anything seems normal but Watch dogs legion on ultra settings with dlss on i got 50-55 fps Cyberphunk2077 on ultra settings with frame generation i got 60fps and it constantly stutter Green hell capped at 40 fps and even on low settings I got the same frames. Literally same. I’m trying to play hogwarts and it’s playing like RuneScape in 2005. I had an Aorus 15P and it had the control center where you could adjust the GPU/CPU settings to overclock them and it ran god of war at 120 FPS. This G5 has newer, upgraded hardware and runs like crap so far
I fond out what is going on first of all all it has to do is beacause of the windows install you have to make sure that you uncheck optimise for this pc beafore creating an iso/usb image and then install the nvidia driver vrom the NDD not from the geforce experience
I have a 2070 super laptop from them, the price was great althought bulky, again, the price was insane, the only issue is that they did't offer a custom software for controling the rgb, gpu, cpu etc, they were using some OEM control software that stopped getting updates, so I cannot upgrade to W11, other than that is a great solution if you want to get a beast laptop cheaper than the big brands.

Raising any laptops up off the ground a little bit (~15deg) will significantly improve the temperature

No it doesn’t work like that they most likely stopped production on 30 series and “old” laptops are being heavily discounted brand new sealed

I think about buying a compatible voltage PSU of 200 watts or 240 watts to reduce PSU heat (and may give extra juice to the laptop) + A surge protector + Limit the CPU voltage with intel XTU to reduce the throttling (with buying this laptop). What do you think about this idea?

Awesome review. Out of the box it overheats and shuts off. After 10 minutes in the refrigerator it will work again. CPU is locked so Throttlestop and Intel XTU won't work. However, using MSi Afterburner and a decent cooling pad I am able to bring CPU temp down to 75-80c and GPU temp down to 65-70c with no decrease in performance. The sweet spot for my setup is 800mV @ 2100 GHz. Using Unigine Heaven as a benchmark I was able to increase the score to 5573. Note: This is on a triple monitor setup using the minidisplay port to DP and HDMI with the laptop display off and backlight, camera, touchpad disabled.

Typically when a laptop overheats, it should just throttle the performance to lower the temps. If it is shutting off entirely, I would recommend returning for a replacement because sometimes you simply won’t have your cooling pad with you.

Hi, I just got this G5 KF laptop today and my cinebench results are low in comparison around 10,000. It only runs at full power at 4.2ghz on P cores for a few seconds then drops to 45W and 1.5ghz. Temps are low around 60-70C when the power drops. Do you think my laptop might be faulty or if perhaps Gigabyte changed how it performs in order to reduce temps? I am in Best/High Performance mode in power settings.

Would a laptop CPU boost at all times if the cooling would be better with GPU load? Like 175W on GPU and around 100 depending on CPU? Or is it always limited by the BIOS? CPUs can boost pretty high but laptops prioritize GPUs.

I'm between 2023 and 2022 Legion 5/7 Pro. Can somebody tell me how stable is the 4000 series GPU on Linux like the kUbuntu daily build. The 4nm would work better for battery life. I would use it for Blender rendering, web browsing.

Anyone facing the problem using the second ssd slot? Most of the time it disappears or halt. Even i have tride to swap the main ssd with that, same happend for the main ssd as well whenever connected to the secong slot.
This is only around the 3060 at high tdp. Just get the Legion 5 with the 3060 way better laptop overall at the same price point.

@@viliuspra0314 tbh this is kinda strange. Sometimes it cuts off power and sometimes does not. Entertainment mode limits a little bit the performance but nothing too crazy. The laptop is a good deal in my oppinion. Only bad thing is the cpu temp, and the power addapter. Everything else works fine. Also I have 16 gigs of RAM, it is needed and works incredibly fine.

Hi I bought this laptop few days a go and I got some performance issues anything seems normal but
Watch dogs legion on ultra settings with dlss on i got 50-55 fps
Cyberphunk2077 on ultra settings with frame generation i got 60fps and it constantly stutter
Green hell capped at 40 fps
and even on low settings I got the same frames.
Any idea what it can cause this?

Literally same. I’m trying to play hogwarts and it’s playing like RuneScape in 2005. I had an Aorus 15P and it had the control center where you could adjust the GPU/CPU settings to overclock them and it ran god of war at 120 FPS. This G5 has newer, upgraded hardware and runs like crap so far
I fond out what is going on first of all all it has to do is beacause of the windows install you have to make sure that you uncheck optimise for this pc beafore creating an iso/usb image and then install the nvidia driver vrom the NDD not from the geforce experience
Enable high-performance mode in Windows power plan by typing in Windows Mobility Center which should fix your stuttering issues. 👍

I have a 2070 super laptop from them, the price was great althought bulky, again, the price was insane, the only issue is that they did't offer a custom software for controling the rgb, gpu, cpu etc, they were using some OEM control software that stopped getting updates, so I cannot upgrade to W11, other than that is a great solution if you want to get a beast laptop cheaper than the big brands.
