FYI- turning the shifter knob while in drive mistaking it for the volume knob (like a knob would do) does nothing other than a message pop up indicating that it's not possible while in montion.

The transmission selector knob is hear the steering wheel nowhere near the info-tainment system you would have to be a complete moron to mistake the two, if you do you should not be driving any vehicle at all as you would be too dumb to do so.

Seriously, you get used to the rotary knob really quick and actually grow to like it. It frees up space in the console and is quicker and easier than than the column shifter believe it or not. They are ahead of their time....I mean the new F150s already have introduced a folding shifter, well why not just do a rotary? Ram Trucks are amazing. Nice review.

I was fully ready to pop for the crew limited. We drove it at night and the 12" screen was just to distracting. The the leather seats were to hard for my wifes comfort, so we hoped into a Bighorn 4x4 Crew cab and we bother loved it as it was a little less bling, but still really super nice interior. The 8" screen was perfect, the upgraded cloth seats were to her comfort. And, I said you just saved me about 20k, and I love this truck! I like the crome with super white color with dark tinted all windows. I added AMP Research disappearing side steps at a local truck place. The the USA roll up black cover over the bed, these are both pricey but really well made, my truck deserves the best

Got a Bighorn/Lone Star Crew Cab 1 month ago. So much better than my 2011 Ram. No comparison. Made a 500-mile roundtrip out of town and averaged almost 22MPG @ 75MPH (mostly flat highway). Would have been nice to justify the Limited but it is a truck after all. Got mine for 15% off MSRP in rebates. So far, so great! A really good review BTW.

I know this is an older video, but it told me something that I was quite surprised to hear. That would be the turning radius of the new Ram. I sold a '13 F-150 Crew Cab, and you couldn't turn that thing around in a 40 acre field. I now have a 2020 Ranger. Nice truck, but it just ain't the type truck I'm used too. So I'm going back to a full size. I just ordered a '22 Ram 1500, and I was already prepared to carefully pick my turn around points again. But when I heard the turning radius on the Gen5 Rams, I don't have to anymore. Thanks to the great down to earth, everyday guy video sir. I just subscribed. :)

I just had an audition for a RAM commercial just a minute ago ( crossing fingers) and I love your style "shifting lanes" !! Keep an eye out on LA casting as you would nail it. Greeat work on this video as your personality is down-to-earth and that makes you very likeable and that agrees with people who are buying anything especially large ticket items. Excellent information while weaving in personality and occassional humor, what an easy going blend that works for sales, commercials, acting or entertaiment!! I really liked how you pointed out that the owner is a woman and Courtney and I are both in the same field (banquet management) so I can TOTALLY relate! This was a fantastic video!!! Nice choice Courtney! subscribed

Anthony, Sometime when you take your truck back to the dealer, check out a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited or a Laramie Longhorn. Both should have the reclining rear seat. It's nowhere like the front, but it's enough to help make you more comfortable.

Had a Dodge Laramie back in the day (late 80's model) full size regular cab 8 foot box. Anyways I drove that forever lol...no issues sold it and the guy that bought it ran it several years and it still looked good till it's demise! Then I bought a Quad Cab Dakota and it too ran for a long time with the only issue being a rack and pinion replacement. Again I sold it to my friend who drove it several years till it's demise which was way past the time expected to live! Now I own a 2012 Toyota Tacoma Quad Cab and love it also with zero issues, thus I almost bought another Toyota but bought a 2019 Ram Crew Cab with the 6'4" box. Very nice truck!

The ladies are purchasing this truck like crazy. I just purchased a Ram 1500 and I'm a total girly girl. At first I was thinking....why should I get this manly contractors truck, but I absolutely love it. I do feel great driving it, like you said because of the size. A lot of women are purchasing this truck too because it makes a great family vehicle because of all the extra room. Sometimes people stare at me driving this big truck because they dont picture a business woman in heels to be riding a pick up. I still get questions from people asking, "why you get that big pick up truck?" I'm like, why not get it. I had a Dodge Journey before and my blinker would be on and people would speed up and not let me get over. Not anymore. When I turn my blinker on to get into the next lane, the other cars fall back for sure and allow me to change lanes. I love this truck. Not just for guys anymore. Ladies are driving this beauty now, in large numbers.

You forgot to mention that Ramcharger was also a 4x4 back in the 70s, 80s, & 90s that competed with the Blazer and Bronco. As far as the best truck ever, it's usually the first one you road in with your grandpa. Even if it wasn't the best, it was your grandfather's truck, so that made the truck the best, for me it was an 86' Dodge Ram D150 with the 318.

The reason people buy pick up trucks is they are what cars used to be, that is they had room. If you’re going to buy or lease a fifth generation ram truck, understand that they do not have all of the bugs worked out yet. Probably every one of these trucks is going to have a window leak at some time in its life. Mine has been riding around with duct tape on the rear window for more than a month as they chose to use a plastic frame that cracks and leaks. The 2020 and even 2021 models still have this problem.

I was stuck with a rental for a week in Seattle. If you have the smaller center console screen, the gear shift knob is right by the volume knob which is by the fan control etc. I don’t know how many times I reached for the wrong one. This is just a crazy stupid design. The accelerator pedal was nearly vertical with no way of adjusting it as far as I could tell. Since I was doing a lot of mountain driving, I found this very fatiguing, and it made a blister on my foot. The rental had no running boards, and, coming in at just under 6 foot tall, I had to grab the steering wheel and climb into the damn thing every time. Then I had to hop out when exiting. By my own calculations, I obtained about 8 mpg even though the truck said I was averaging around 21 mpg. This was with a lot of highway driving to neighboring states. When in the city, I parked it and took public transportation as it is just too big to fit comfortably into parking lots or garages in a crowded city. I'm used to driving an SUV, but this isn’t the first pickup I’ve driven. On the pros, it does have lots of power, the rear view camera was nice, and it sits up over most vehicles. Because of all the cons, you couldn’t pay me to buy a Ram.

I would love to see here on UA-cam a real world owner comparison between any year dodge ram and any year ford pick up truck and a comparison of the repairs. I know personally in the “real world“ being family to several very large heavy bridge building contractors companies ,Who have owned ford , Dodge and gmc/Chevys the Fords have had the majority of the breakdowns and the Chevys a distant second with the Rams far behind .that spectrum, would be many different year models to that point , they no longer have ford (any) in their fleets so you can extrapolate there confidence in ford products since they no longer own them. Most trucks used in these construction companies will be outside the warranty in a year and 1/2 then the company has to pay for repairs or use the company mechanic ,who has personally said his words “I am done working on ford products“ extremely hard to diagnose certain problems, too many special tools and the parts are astronomical, and anybody who drives a Ford’s nose ford continuously changes parts . I would love to get figures from him on average cost of repairs over 3 to 4 years ,and believe me the power stroke even the newer ones, Are the worst offenders ,and the most expensive to maintain and fix while the Cummins with the simple engines are out in the field continuously. On that note I will post a video on my channel of my 13-year-old 260,000 hemi dodge pulling my nieces 2014 eco-boost w/100,000 miles into the driveway six months after she purchased it . She would not listen but she has seen many ford commercials. I told her it’s not a problem just get your credit card out you’ll be fine.

Would really want to see a 250k plus review. Had a Dodge Ram 1500 1995 in 2001. Had. HAD. Damn thing had the dashboard warp and slipping auto tranny at 130k. Dodge had such a bad rep and it stuck. Left a bad taste in my mouth. But it’s true. Tundra haven’t really done any real update for years. Makes me jealous of all the other brand. I love my 2010 tundra to death. Bought brand new. Have 260k hard working city driving. Still ticking strong. But Daddy need a new mule. Ram look so good, but tundra was the one that came through. But that bad taste back in 2001 still there. Is there anyone out there with a real good experience with ram 250k plus. Not the power wagon, 2500 and 3500 and disiel are not fair comparison. If you don’t think ram is the best just talk anybody who drives one for 200,000 miles which most ford owners do not drive past their warranty I know two guys who do that very thing buying a truck every four years saying how great they are and never putting more than 60,000 miles on one vehicle ram runs flawlessly and has zero serious problems compare that to the F1 50 that still has issues even with the doors staying closed for the last four years and they build up in the same new trucks and you have to get it fixed after you own the truck! why would ford do that I’ll tell you why because they have the parts on hand, and they can write off the repairs for more than they cost but they don’t care about their clients the stupid Bluetooth systems fail continuously had my buddies a whole entire dash had to be swapped out because of the Bluetooth components not working took them a week to do this! Stay away from F1 50 before you can resell it you’ll have to fix all the technology that doesn’t work in it and it will cost you thousands like my friend he will never buy another Ford all his failures happened at 80,000 miles it cost him $2500 more to drive outside of the warranty and he got killed on resale value!

Scott wads that’s how I know you know nothing about trucks, or vehicles in fact. Rams are not work trucks like the Tundras. A Tundra will last 3 times longer than a Ram hands down. The ram has all this fancy technology crap just to make sales to girls and clueless men who want a truck for show. Ram use all this fancy technology as a cover for their lack of reliability. @@francisprevel1 the cabin materials and design are very poor compared to newer vehicles. Infotainment system, while better this year is still not very good. The engine, while very reliable is underpowered compared to competition and, from the owners I know and largely what I've read, the mpg is actually worse than claimed. No full led lighting option. Very old transmission that needs more gears. The vehicle needs to use different materials and shed weight. Needs to improve payload. More USB and power connections.
If I only used it for work here and there I wouldn't care, but I drive 150-400 miles per day. I use the bed for restaurant equipment. As a daily driver, comfort and mpg improvements matter a lot. Having better interior and tech inside matters because I have little kids and will use it as a family vehicle. There are a lot of people that want the same things I do. The other companies are giving people that. Toyota needs too as well or they will never sell nearly as many as the other brands.

    • @francisprevel1
      @francisprevel1 5 років тому

John Galt I agree with a few things you said but underpowered? The beast can tow more than 10 000lbs. Horsepower isn’t everything when it comes to power in a truck. I know it doesn’t really prove much but go on UA-cam and type in Toyota Tundra vs the other brand of trucks. The Tundra always wins when it comes to tug of war. So power is clearly not an issue with the truck.

Why did I buy my 2019 Ram Bighorn? Well, I'm a truck guy, and back in the seventies a muscle car owner as a teenager. I've owned three Rams in the past twenty years, and I like them. When comparing Rams to the "cars" that the auto makers are pushing on the public, it's a no brainer. They're creating the ugliest cars I've ever seen and I don't want to be caught dead in one, let alone own one. The Ram looks great, is a great drive, and it's a good utility vehicle. Truck bed, four wheel drive option, "crew" cab. And yeah, I love the rotary knob and Sirius XM. But man, today's "cars" all look the same. Cookie cutter cars with zero personality or flair.
