This reminds me back in the later 70's my dad was looking for a new vehicle that would double as a hunting rig. We went to several dealerships including IH. The Scout II's had paint bubbling up from rust all over! Brand new on the showroom floor. Those IH's were built like tanks but the quality really slipped towards the end. So good to see you bring one back on the road. They are getting rare!

I was able to visit the Red Power Roundup in June 2022 in Springfield Ohio. All International, Farmall, McCormick Deering etc. There will be experts related to that show that could answer any question June 15-117 about this truck. Next year will be in Grand isle Nebraska June 15-17. Highly recommended.
Talking about the double wall bed sides, I think it was Studebaker to pioneer that in the 50s. A lot of orphan brands like studebaker, amc, international etc often introduced innovative ideas but sometimes didnt market them well.
Cool old truck, to bad IHC didn't start using corrosion inhibitor till 79 or 80 which was the end of production pickups, scouts and travelall. It was always interesting guessing what components they would have for drivetrain, carberation and such, they could pass just about anything on the road except a gas station.
@@rsprockets7846 My father in law worked for IHC, so just about everyone in the family had Scouts, Terra's, Traveler's in sport and rallye configurations. Didn't seem to matter if you had a 304, 345, 392, power and torque went up with cubic inch increase but didn't seem to effect mileage. Mine were always 9mpg towing or not, the 4 bangers got a little better mpg.
I'm an over the road truck driver and I'm sitting here in traffic all backed up because of an accident and life was starting to suck but then I noticed there's a new video from Mortske, definitely reduced the suck by about a factor of 10
Pretty sweet. Liked that Duff made that Cow go home that was awesome. Liked #840 That truck pretty kewl, really like the fact that is had a manual gear box for both going forward and the four wheel drive, none of that push button CRAP and the manual front locking hubs are a plus as well. Other than the manual transmission built similar to my Dads 1993 F-150 XLT front locking hubs and manual four wheels drive gear box, awesome truck!
@@MortskeRepair Yeah, you're RIGHT it is and that's why it's awesome. To many buttons switches levers knobs in these newer vehicle's, need to get back to how they use to be made. Simple. How much wiring and relays do you think is in that Truck a heck of a lot less then the newer Trucks these days, and why for what, because people are LAZY that's why, GPS why because people don't know how to read a map. Ask your Dad how much more simple life was. I love your video's man you just make my day when you put another one out, and sometimes I get a real good laugh. I am only 36 years old, but I love manual roll down windows so much better, same with seats that you have to pull up on the lever and pull the seat forward way more simple and if it break or stops working it mechanical and pretty simple to fix. What I'm saying is that electrical just adds something else to go wrong. Plus if you add electrical and mechanical together you have to figure out witch one went BAD the electrical or the mechanical part could be something as simple as a blown fuse or as extreme as a slit in a wire somewhere or a bad relay. You see what i'm saying, LOLZ. You have a good one my friend and God Bless.
"It's a Aspen, you can tell it's a Aspen by how it is", I'd like to have been there and ask him, "well how is it then", haha, just to hear how he answers that!
That tie rod looks like the one in my Scout. IH wasn't thinking when they put it there. First thing to hit. Mine was reinforced with angle iron welded to it. Another thing that isn't legal here, but it worked. Every UA-camr I have seen tries to adjust the carb on a cold engine. The engine MUST be at running temp with choke full open before you can adjust the idle speed or mixture. I was adjusting carbs before EFI existed.
Internationals were excellent trucks, super tough. I liked the fact they had the distributor in the front like Ford but had the firing order and cylinder numbering of GM. I had a 1972, 4 speed, 4x4 that I bought with a blown head gasket for $50. I thrashed that truck and could never get it stuck in mud or snow.
The bodies weren’t much good on those old Internationals, in fact I think they started rusting right from the factory but they did seem to have solid drive trains, Great video Mortske
Growing up at home 🏡 Dad was a logger an he had a lot of those pick-ups. Most all was 3/4 ton with a 345. I'm here to tell ya, if those tires could get ahold of something 😏, it would climb a tree. Great 👍trucks 🚚as far as I'm concerned 😟. Really enjoy 😉seeing this one. Thanks for sharing 👍.

Mortske Monday never fails to put a smile on my face! Time to put on my Mortske Repair shirt and grab a sammich! Cool International truck by the way! You don't see many of these anymore. A friend told me they were driving one of these when they were younger, and rolled it on its side. They said they and some friends pushed it back over and drove it home. Tough truck! Don't let Duff try it though lol.
Thanks for sharing with us. I, personally, have always had a distaste for the old international trucks.....but the more I see (few to be seen around NW Arkansas) the more I like and respect them. Overbuilt is a good frame of reference to the way those units were built. Good times and Duff stole the show once again. If I was closer I'd snag that one for a crisp $1500! Nice
While in high school during the mid 2000's my first vehicle was a 71 1010 pickup and a 73 fully optioned travel all that I bought from the original owner. Let's just say I stuck out! I've been an international fanatic ever since.
Ah, right hand thread wheel studs. I had a fun experience with a Kaiser CJ5 where someone had swapped the front drums side to side so it didn’t match by vehicle side. Threw me for a loop, thought they were cross threaded at first and narrowly avoided ruining the studs with an impact before I figured it out.
Excellent video Mortske Repair :) those trucks made Hamilton Ontario Canada till 1980 when factory closed up 345 V8 4 barrel carb Holley CFM 1000CFM with choke cable knob in dash and Transmission be Creeper 4speed with Bow Low First gear Eaton D18 Manual transmission and rear be 355 to 456 ratio! Fuel tank be 25 to 60 gallon fuel tank! Rare see one those disk on front most them Drum till 1974 with Power Brakes and Steering! Lucky out didn't get split rims on this International pickup! filter is like Fram 8A on Small one or Fram 8A big one plus 345 take 5 quarts totally on both oil filters , plus fire order same small 350 V8 to , plus timing is +1 degrees and fuel pump had originally a glass bowl bottom fuel pump plus see this change to GM but got fuel filter on intake fuel line ! Manual is standard option a fluid type and amazing trucks Mortske tell you too ! Got excellent find too! Also Alternator be Delco Remy be 70 or 90 amps they got internal Regulartor plus use low amps 30 to 35 amps on when head lights or heater on do 70 to 90 amps ! Also Mortske does that one have Choke control on Carb because on Cold Starts need away out then 5 to 10 mins push to 1/4 out so get Engine warm and then push in to off! To that International is First year didn't put key in dash on on right side they put Coulmn like Modern vechiles are and add radio to that truck easy too ! Side markers lights on back box and plus front fenders to to for Turn Signals! Surprises me that Truck did have West Coast mirrors and with turn signals too on them plus Radio antenna too! Also if want put Muffler on those trucks put Round from Farm tractor that my late dad and late Uncle did to there 1968 International 1 ton !
It’s Seer a cuse, love Internationals, drove a International Scout with a blue tooth power steering mount and frame about 13 miles home from a farm auction, it was rather exciting
Thanks another great video! I used to have a 1972 IHC 1210 4x4 short bed. Yes, from the factory. IH made some interesting trucks. It originally had a 345 and manual 4 speed but the original owner decided to drop a mopar 440 and 727 three speed auto in front of the factory NP205 transfer case. Mine had a dana60 with Detroit locker in the back and a dana 44 up front. My guess is your has a Dana 44 in back and maybe a 33 up front? It had drum brakes all the way round guess IH decided to put discs up front by 74. Fun trucks, too bad body parts are non existent these days.
You're probably off a bit on pricing, the truck could be worth treble that... did you see the paint marker on the firewall, looks to be a production line QC marking, lol also "OK'd by Bob". The transfer case alone, if it were refurbed, could be worth what you're asking for the truck.
YES!!!! Slingshot engaged should not be part of your YT vocabulary. Glad to see the ole IH running once more. JB works great. I once used it to seal a plastic overflow tank on the 'welded' seam.
The electrical system in this body style was GM in origin for the most part. The headlight dimmer switch and the map/cabin light were sourced from the 67-72 GM trucks. I know because I once owned 2 3/4 ton 4x4s at the same time as a "take two to make one truck" project.
I checked the EGR valve the one behind the carburetor big round one do they get tendency to leak take it off and fill it with JB well and you can use it back in that City where you're at
2 of my uncle's had international scouts. One had a scout pickup he used for plowing snow. One uncle owned a few of them. One is gone now and one is still living. I always wanted a scout maybe one day I will have one.

Cool International truck by the way! You don't see many of these anymore. A friend told me they were driving one of these when they were younger, and rolled it on its side. They said they and some friends pushed it back over and drove it home. Tough truck! Don't let Duff try it though lol.
THANKS FOR ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO MORTSKE AND DUFF DOG!!! SO GLAD TO SEE THE DUFF CAM IS BACK!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice
Right on
While in high school during the mid 2000's my first vehicle was a 71 1010 pickup and a 73 fully optioned travel all that I bought from the original owner. Let's just say I stuck out! I've been an international fanatic ever since.
That's awesome! Love them Travelalls!
Oh boy!
It’s Seer a cuse, love Internationals, drove a International Scout with a blue tooth power steering mount and frame about 13 miles home from a farm auction, it was rather exciting
good stuff!
Yep you got me twice with the spider thing thanks had to change shorts, keep up the hard work love your videos, fuuuunn!!!
Bahaha glad to hear it
Duff sure likes the classics. He's smart. Just like Mortske. You trained Duff well
Thanks Doyle
Great video makes people like me learn and get motivated thank you 🙏 keep up the great work
Glad to hear it!
YES!!!! Slingshot engaged should not be part of your YT vocabulary. Glad to see the ole IH running once more. JB works great. I once used it to seal a plastic overflow tank on the 'welded' seam.
2 minutes in and already that front bumper is worth the admission price. Internationals rock!
One of my dream trucks. I got a 70 1100 4x4 that is my current project but one day I'll get my 74 or 5 200 4x4
You did real good in getting the old corn binder running again , keeping them running is a real lot of fun
Thanks John!
I once had a Case trencher that had axels like that , Dana 44s is what I was told 😁 Thanks for sharing Mortske
yeah it sounds like expected for a corn binder fresh off the farm, but I'm digging that front bumper it's killer
The electrical system in this body style was GM in origin for the most part. The headlight dimmer switch and the map/cabin light were sourced from the 67-72 GM trucks. I know because I once owned 2 3/4 ton 4x4s at the same time as a "take two to make one truck" project.
Thanks for changing the outro song back to the old one. The new one was good but this is more fitting for the older rigs in my opinion.
I didn't know we ever changed it
Mortske needs a tire sponsorship!
Goodness yes!
My first truck was a 74 IHC 200 with a 345/727/4:11. I loved that beast. The D series is absolutely beautiful to me.
I checked the EGR valve the one behind the carburetor big round one do they get tendency to leak take it off and fill it with JB well and you can use it back in that City where you're at
Thanks Chin, I didn't really want to sleep tonight. You're a real standup guy.
Glad to help
First post of yours I've seen in quite a while.Welcome Back
55! Easy, gonna turn that box side into wing and take off like a crop duster. Awesome video. Thanks for another entertaining Monday 👍🏼
Our pleasure
Yet another excellent Mortske Monday! Glad you spared the Super Scrapper and used that pocket knife instead. 👊👍
2 of my uncle's had international scouts. One had a scout pickup he used for plowing snow. One uncle owned a few of them. One is gone now and one is still living. I always wanted a scout maybe one day I will have one.
👍Good stuff! Brings back memories as my Gramps had 1 like this. It’s granny gear low would pull a house off the foundation! 👍🇺🇸
Cool ole pickup. Doesn’t look too chewy. Good start for someone.
I think so too!
Cool vid as always …..I keep seeing glimpses of that old orange bump side…fav truck of yours!
I keep thinking how fun it would be if that had a 460 😊
Hey Mortske I’ve been out of town for the last month have I missed anything I love that old international I get that sucker running just a cruise around town
Congratulations Mortske. Another successful start. But, that International going to need a bunch of Love. Would make a great restoration project for someone. Make a deal and flip it.
That's the plan!
The variety up in the great North is amazing
International stuff..😁👍
You got that right!
Love the IH !! Wish I was closer I might actually buy it from you
Great video!!! 😊
Young kids would have no idea how to turn the hi beams on & off!!! That brought me back a couple days lol
❤❤❤❤love to Duffers ❤❤❤
I took my 58 cadillac in for an oil change, new guy walks to the front stands there looking at me ...then says POP THE HOOD! uhhhh yeah right. Lol.
Hey! I noticed you tapped the "+" on the Milwaukee tire inflator to get to 20lbs, you may already know this, but if you push and hold the "+" it jumps up in 5lb increments so you can get to 20 or 30lbs quick.
Thanks for another entertaining video.
Good call!
Nice job, love your commentary and Duff, well he’s just a star
Thanks!
